FAQs

What is Silent Network Authentication?

IDlayr Secure SNA connects directly with mobile networks to deliver a deterministic mobile verification result giving you 100% certainty of the mobile number that is connecting to your service. This SIM-based mobile number verification means no user input, no waiting, no guesswork and no false positives. Learn more about IDlayr Secure SNA here.

Which countries do your solutions cover?

IDlayr solutions are live in 20+ markets, including the USA, Canada, Mexico, UK, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Germany. Contact us to learn more.

Does this work when a user is roaming?

YES – if we have coverage of your user’s home network, then this service works wherever they are in the world. Because the mobile IP address that we are checking is supplied by their home Mobile Network Operator (MNO), wherever they are in the world, because that MNO owns the SIM card.

How do you handle Dual SIM phones?

If there are two SIM cards, IDlayr SNA will verify only the SIM card that is connected / enabled for mobile data.

What about eSIMs?

eSIMs are supported in exactly the same way as physical SIMs.

Can you prevent SIM Swap fraud?

YES – IDlayr provides the ability to check if there has been a recent change of SIM card, indicating a potential fraud. Armed with this information, your teams can choose to reject an authentication request or take the user through a higher friction “Step-up” check. Read more about our SIM Swap Solution here.

Do IDlayr solutions work over WiFi?

IDlayr solutions can silently switch the mobile identity authentication check to run over the mobile data channel, even if the phone is connected via WiFi. Learn more about our Edge Case Handling here.

Do you offer demo / testing environments?

Yes! We can offer a IDlayr Demo & Testing Environment – a suite of demo apps, sandbox tools, live testing environments, plus professional services support, all designed to help you learn, demo, adopt and deploy mobile identity technology quickly and easily. Learn more here.

What kind of fallback solutions do you offer, if Silent Network Authentication is unavailable?

IDlayr Reverse SMS is the solution for these coverage gaps. It offers a high-security, low-friction fallback for SNA that works wherever your users are, using an approach that strengthens – not weakens – your security posture. More about IDlayr Reverse SMS here.

How does your solution help with payments?

SCA-compliant (Strong Customer Authentication) payment authentication can be achieved by combining silent possession-factor verification with a biometric to deliver, secure, low friction payment or step-up authentication. This streamlined method can reduce checkout delay and improve both the user experience and conversion rates.

How can you help protect against AI Fraud?

AI cannot fake possession factors. Using the cryptographically secure SIM card as a possession-factor is a very effective method for preventing remote, AI-based, attacks. The binding between the SIM card and the mobile number creates a secure digital identity that provides a foundational trust layer for mobile identity and any associated credentials.
