Merry christmas everyone!!!!
Spent last night (christmas eve for us) working at the pub. Most people were pretty nice
I said merry christmas about 1000 times last night hehe
So today we are going to the pub again for our orphans christmas with the other staff that have nowhere else to go either heh.
its gonna be good fun.
Rang my family after i got home from work last night at 2:30am, which was good because it was about 2pm christmas day there.
So I know I'm a bit late for you guys but its only just christmas day here!!!!!
So Merry christmas guys and dont forget its CASEY'S BIRTHDAY TOO!!!!!

some things have changed since i was here 6 years ago. a lot of things have gone from bad to worse unfortunately.
but we are still managing to have good times though.

So we arrived with no problems in coxim.
my goodness its very hot here already.
i have a bit of bad news that i discovered when i got here.
my host father has a heart problem and will have open heart surgery tomorrow. my host mum is in campo grande with him. its only my host sister lis, her son, and my host brother tulio at home at the moment. so they had to get a neighbour to com and pick us up from the bus station.
my host sister hasent seen her dad since he went into hospital 2 weeks ago. and she cant get time off work to visit him.
hopefully all will go well tomorrow and my host mum will return in a few days. my host dad has to stay in the hospital for two weeks after the operation to recover.
so anyway hopefully everything will go well and i´ll see them both soon.
otherwise we are just trying to aclimatise to the heat and humidity.

So the two thermometers outside on my verandah are not in agreement with
each other.
one says 11 degrees....the other says 15 degrees.
shall we compromise and say it must be around 13 degrees?
or shall we just say that after very hot summery japan days, australia feels like
a walk in freezer?

So if you`re interested you can go to this site and it will give you some simple info on what your birth year is and who your patron buddha is accordingly (according to japanese buddhism anyway.)
i think its interesting.
this is the link to my patron buddha`s homepage (hehe) from there you can go to `who is your patron deity` and that`ll tell you what your birth year is and which buddha corresponds to it.
then you cen search the site for infor on your buddha or just go to the buddha menu. (hm I`ll have fried buddha for dinner today)

Yesterday it was raining and I was bored
so I decided to read Oscar Wilde`s `The Picture of Dorian Gray` (First pub. 1891)
I must say I like this book very much. I knew the basic storyline already but had never actually read it myself.
I highly reccomend it to anyone who likes this sort of thing.
I loved reading it and coming across classic lines like `there is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about`.
That line happens to be in the beginning of the book and there were other classic lines but I got too involved in the book so I dont know where to find them, and can`t be bothered searching through it for them.
However I very much like the preface written by Wilde himself.
These are just snippets. You do not have to agree with them, and they may not be right or true to you,
but i find them thought provoking. And that is good.
`Those who find ugly meaning in beautiful things are corrupt without being charming. This is a fault.
Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope.
They are the elect to whom beautiful things mean only beauty.`

So i havent been doing updates from japan as ive been sending out big emails
and also casey is the laptop hog hehe
but i was wondering if anyone hasnt been recieving my emails that would like to
just tell me and give me your email address and you will be added to my list.
we are just hanging out at the youth hostel in asakusa doing washing and trying not to spend any money. i am wearing the last of my clean clothes.
we went to a bar last night and stayed til 2am when it closed, so we slept in this morning which was nice. there are lots of different people staying here and its cool to just hang out and compare notes on what we think about japan and cool places we have been.
so when we get our passports back from the brasilian embassy next friday we will head off to nagasaki and more adventures! hai!

Thanks to everyone who sent me love and hugs.
Yesterday I had the honor of bearing my Nan's coffin. And also lowering her into her grave.
(No I didn't drop her)
Reality is the only word I have to describe that.
I am back in sydney but have to work tomorrow and Saturday. If anyone feels like hanging out on Sunday
that'd be cool.
I don't really know what I need right now.
I am so good at pretending things are normal sometimes.

on friday i got a phone call from my mum telling me my nan had passed away that morning
and then in the same comversation she told me that my dad's aunty had also passed away thursday night.
(my dad's mum passed away when i was a month old so his mum's sister kindof filled the nan position :)
needless to say i was quite upset.
so today i am going to my great aunty's funeral and tommorow my nan's.
feeling pretty crap and antisocial- being strong for my mum has meant that i have not allowed myself time to really think about it
and i feel funny... like nothing at all.
just empty

So I thought I'd share with you all my big news.
I got my uni results: P,P,Cr,Cr
and
I will officially GRADUATE with a BScDipEd on 28th April 2006!
so no more uni for me....at least until I go back and do my PhD.... :p
and this news just in ....my brother is getting married in September 2006. Wow its going to be a big year!

just spent the last few days at my folks house
was nice. went to my sisters yr 12 formal she looked gorgeous.
my mum has started playing with a drumming group. the guy who runs it is Indonesian and he has japanese taiko drums soooooooooooo coool!!!!! i want one! and also other drums on which he teaches ppl indonesian rythems. sounds bloody awsome.
so yesterday he had a workshop at my mums school and we went along and helped. did i say i want a taiko? want want want! he makes his own. a lot of work, but he said that you can pay $10 000 for an average one. guess i'll be saving for a long time eh?
just heard back from NOVA they've offered me a position with them next year!!!! we havent decided exactly whats happening yet so i guess we've got a few decisions to make. but i at least know i'm worth employing so i should be able to find work if i dont go with them.
next tuesday and thursday i have exams then its off to earthcore!!!!!
bollocks i got a lot of work to do before then
