OUR LOVE LETTER TO INDIAN COUNTRY

After seven years, IllumiNative sunsetted as an organization at the end of 2025. Over those years, we partnered with Native thought leaders, Native-led organizations, creatives, non-Native allies, and others to reclaim our power as Native peoples and build movements that fueled systems and narrative change.

While IllumiNative has officially closed our doors, we hope that this website can serve as both an archive and a guide for the changemakers, advocates, community leaders, and others who will continue the work to advance self-determination, justice, and equity for Native peoples.

ILLUMINATIVE’S FINAL IMPACT REPORT

Since IllumiNative’s founding in 2018, we’ve seen significant shifts in Native representation and in turn, in non-Native people’s perceptions of our identities, cultures, and priorities. Our final impact report represents our collective wins across Indian Country over the last 7 years and the partnerships that made it possible. What we’ve built is more than a moment, it’s a lasting legacy of impact. Thank you.

OUR FINAL RESEARCH

In our closing moments as an organization, we conducted our final research to gather critical insights into the priorities of Native peoples today and the perceptions non-Native people have about us, our cultures, our stories, and more. We hope you can use this research, and the lessons learned along the way, as you continue the movement to build power for Native peoples.

PROJECTS & CAMPAIGNS

We amplified contemporary, accurate, and authentic representation as a means to  disrupt and interrupt the erasure of Native peoples.

In partnership with Native-led organizations, community leaders, Tribal Nations, artists, and creatives we executed projects and campaigns that dismantled harmful stereotypes, educated and engaged Americans and key institutions, and advanced contemporary narratives about Native peoples.

Explore the projects and campaigns below to learn more about our approach and impact.
