Hello, fellow fandom warriors, it's that time of year again!

The 2016 Inceptiversary is barreling towards us, and with it, the all-time-fave, Round-Ups begin July 1st!

What are Round-Ups?

Think about all the Inception fics, fan art, fan vids or meta posts you’ve loved and cherished from AO3 to Livejournal, FanFiction.Net, Fanlore, Dreamwidth, and tumblr too! Now you can help other fans discover and love them too!

Round-Ups allow participants to link 3 -10 fan works through themes of their choosing, from the most adorable to the most angst and intrigue-driven, and right down the rather bizarre and...unique.

Sign ups begin on Sunday June 26th and will continue through the event until Sunday July 31st, but posting begins on Friday July 1st, so head over the calendar! Each week is a different grouping of themes so make sure you don't miss out!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

1) SIGN UP FOR A POSTING DATE using this calendar

Please write your Tumblr, LJ, or Twitter name, a theme you picked, and a way to contact you in the field of the day you’d like to make your post.

The theme / trope / kink you choose should be fairly narrow, such as: “Works where Arthur plays a musical instrument” or “Works where Eames isn’t actually British,” etc.

This year we have 5 major theme groups, one for each week in July:

week 1 (Friday, July 1st -Thursday July 7th) RARE PAIRS

week 2 (Friday, July 8th-Thursday July 14th) AU - ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSE

week 3 (Friday, July 15th-Thursday July 21st) FLUFF/ CRACK

week 4 (Friday, July 22nd-Thursday July 28th) ANGST

week 5 (Friday, July 29th-Thursday August 7th) PORN

When signing up for a posting date:

• Choose the date in the week your specific theme falls into. (Example: if your theme is "Saito x Yusuf", you should sign-up for a day in the RARE PAIRS themed week.) If your doesn’t "fit" into any of 5 major themes, sign up for ANY SUNDAY!
• Do NOT pick a theme that has already been claimed.
• Unless all dates in your theme week are full, do NOT choose a date that has already been chosen.

2) POST YOUR ROUND-UP when your date comes up

The Round-Ups should be primarily posted to Inceptiversary Round-Ups Collection on AO3.

POSTING TO AO3

Sign in, go to http://archiveofourown.org/collections/Inceptiversary_Round_Ups and click on Post to Collection button on the top right of the page.

IMPORTANT: please, add the “Community: inceptiversary” tag.
In the Archive warnings and Additional tags, use warnings and tags that relate to the works you provide.

In the Work text field you MUST:
·         Give a 1 paragraph description of your theme / trope / kink and why you chose it. This is to qualify the post as meta.
·         List a minimum of 3 works to a maximum of 10 works.
Be sure to use all relevant warnings and tags for each work. If there are no warnings on the pieces you link, please add any you feel are necessary. If you are linking to a NSFW image, please add a NSFW warning. If it is a piece of fic or meta, include a brief summary.

Each linked work should look like this:
Link: http://yourlink.com
Title: Choose Wisely
Creator: SplinklyDots
Warnings: Dubcon, NSFW image, etc.
Pairing(s): Cobb/Mal
Rating: R
Summary: Cobb takes Mal shopping for guns.

Do not repost the creator’s content in your Round-Ups! Only post links to their work so that they may receive proper credit and comments.

POSTING TO LIVEJOURNAL AND TUMBLR

As long as the “Community: inceptiversary” tag is added, your Round-Ups post on AO3 will be automatically posted to Inceptiversary tumblr blog (thanks to a script by lezzerlee)!

Along with posting to AO3, feel free to:
·         Reblog/ post your Round-Ups on your Tumblr blog.
·         Make a Round-Ups post on Livejournal / share it with Inceptiversary community on LJ.
Always make sure to use the #inceptiversary #themeroundup as well as any additional tags that relate to the works you provide. (video, fanart, illustration, graphic, podfic, meta, etc.)

As many now know, Archive of Our Own has become a thriving platform for fandom works, especially fan fiction. It’s features, such as bookmarking, a search function, and collections have made it the one of the top destination for finding fan-works online.

Inception fandom’s hay-day existed in a time of upheaval and change. It was the during the downfall of LiveJournal, the blooming of Dreamwidth and the rise of Tumblr. The transition to new platforms might have been hard for some fans. And for others, the effort of transferring works may have seemed unimportant, or like an insurmountable task.

But we feel that archiving Inception fan-work is very important! Finding past work on LiveJournal is hard to many people in fandom due to works being posted to decentralized, individual accounts. Access to work has been lost due to locked accounts, dead communities, forgetfulness, and general lack of use. Some new fans have never even used LiveJournal, and don’t know any of the communities to find fic. We’ve tried to track down resources for people to find all the great work, but you could make it easier!

This challenge is to encourage you take on that task of archiving your work to AO3. We know many of you have beautiful artwork and writing that only live on personal journals, kink-memes, or in comment threads.

Inception fic-finder has been holding down the fort on finding Inception fic that is hard to search for, or that people may have never bookmarked, and have gotten buried over time. But we feel that creators can help!

Post all your old work to AO3! Get new comments; find new fans. Let people rediscover your fic, and bookmark it easily for them to re-read again and again!

We know it’s a lot of effort to put in, but we think it’s worth it.
