The New White Chalet~ A Summer project

This post has nothing to do with pottery, but a project that I took on this summer. It was transforming my garden shed into a little cottage~chalet~playhouse. It got done just in time for a very special party that I held for some GREAT girlfriends. Stone Pottery

Some new stone pottery is fresh out of the kiln, with lots of serving pieces!

This large oval serving platter measures approx. 13" across, making it quite the high rimmed platter.

This new creamer / small pitcher is my new favorite piece!

He has such a cute round belly! :)

And here is another new creamer / pitcher....

making it more oval and giving it a more modern feel.

Small batter bowls....ready for stirring up a batch of brownies~

~Journaling~

Not long ago, I started journaling on a daily basis. It was a friend or two who spoke of journaling and how much they loved it and loved looking back over the years past, of different things that had too soon been forgotten. When I started looking more into journals, I became swooned by how neat the books looked and felt and how "handmade" they were. There are many types/varieties and pretty much anything goes, when it comes down to jotting down your words or thoughts.

. It was the handmade ones that I really connected to with the embellishments, the everyday paper ephemera that really caught my eye with all it's textures, layers, and mixed media.

Then, I found another type of way to make journals. Using old,vingtage books. Something about the way they feel, smell, the worn edges of the covers, the faded color of the binding. Plus vintage books always look neat!

So, from there I found a few vintage books and began the process of making them into journals....journals for art, for words, for thoughts..... ....for memories.

Square Trays

 

So, it's been forever and a day since I posted.   I thought I would show you some snap shots of one of my favorite pottery pieces.

 

I ABSOLUTELY love using our square trays!  They are VERY unique, completely HAND MOLDED, and they just have a great character about them.

 

Do you see those little stars stamped on their CUTE little rolled handles? 

 

These trays are used to hold everything!  MORE than just food!

 

I have one sitting out to HOLD some of my favorite everyday pieces of jewelry.

 

 

Of course FOOD and snacks do fit well on these too!

 

The possibilities are ENDLESS.
