Matt Andersen - The Hammer and The Rose Tour
When Matt Andersen steps on stage, he brings a lifetime of music to every note he plays. His latest album, The Hammer & The Rose, is a veritable garden of heart; a (mostly) delicate collection of tender folk and stirring soul numbers that find the New Brunswick-born songwriter thoughtfully tending to the most important things in life. Andersen’s stage presence is informed by decades of cutting his teeth in dusty clubs, dim-lit bars, and grand theatres all over the world, delivering moving performances that run the gamut from intimate to wall-shaking.

ESO Classics: Benjamin Grosvenor Plays Britten
Celebrated British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor returns after a 12-year absence to perform Benjamin Britten’s energetic Piano Concerto, written when the composer was 24 and known for its rhythmic drive and inventive orchestration.
At its premiere, a critic wrote cryptically of Brahms’ final symphony, “It is like a dark well; the longer we look into it, the more brightly the stars shine back."
Malcolm Forsyth wrote his celebratory Jubilee Overture in 1964 when he was 28, four years before he moved to Edmonton and became a member of the ESO. Don’t miss this intriguing concert juxtaposing music of youthful exuberance and wise experience.

Headpins and Toronto The Legacy
Headpins released their debut album Turn It Loud in 1982, which quickly went platinum and topped the charts for six weeks, with the hit single Don’t It Make Ya Feel. Darcy McDonald joined the band on keyboards in 1983. Their second release, Line of Fire, was another multi-platinum success, and included the hits Just One More Time and Feel It (Feel My Body), resulting in the band touring Europe with Whitesnake at the beginning of 1984.
Torontos first album, Lookin’ for Trouble, was released in 1980, and lead single Even The Score was a minor hit, just missing the Canadian Top 40. Head On (1981) followed, after which Costello and Fox left the band to be replaced by Gary LaLonde (later of Honeymoon Suite) and Barry Connors (later of Coney Hatch). The band was nominated for a Juno in 1981 for Most Promising Group of the Year along with Loverboy, Martha & the Muffins, Red Rider and Powder Blues Band (winner).
