About the challenge

Welcome to the second Ingenium STEM Hackathon of 2024, where the brightest minds come together to create, innovate, and provide education for learners of all ages. This Hackathon will cover majority of the summer and more, starting on July 11th at 12:00 AM EST and ending two months later on September 11th at 12:00 AM EST. Regardless of the amount of experience you may have, don't be shy to join our hackathon!

What to Build

For the Ingenium STEM Summer Hacks 2.0, participants are encouraged to create innovative and impactful projects that address various aspects of social good. Your project can take any form as long as it aims to make a positive difference in society. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  1. AI-Powered Community Support Platform: Develop a platform leveraging AI to provide resources, support, and connectivity within communities.
  2. Intelligent Tutoring System: Create an AI-driven tutoring system that offers personalized learning experiences and helps students improve their academic performance.
  3. Sustainable Living Recommendation Engine: Build a recommendation engine that suggests sustainable living practices to individuals and households based on their lifestyle and preferences.
  4. Healthcare Predictive Analytics: Design a predictive analytics tool to help healthcare providers anticipate and prevent health issues, improving patient outcomes.
  5. Disaster Response AI Assistant: Develop an AI assistant to aid in disaster response efforts, providing real-time information, coordination, and support to affected individuals and responders.
  6. Inclusive Social Platform with Sentiment Analysis: Create a social platform that promotes inclusivity and uses sentiment analysis to detect and mitigate harmful content.
  7. Mental Health Monitoring and Support System: Build a system that monitors mental health indicators and provides timely support and resources to individuals in need.
  8. Civic Engagement Chatbot: Design a chatbot to encourage civic engagement, educate users on civic duties, and facilitate participation in community initiatives.
  9. Elderly Care AI Companion: Develop an AI companion to assist elderly individuals with daily tasks, provide companionship, and ensure their safety and well-being.
  10. AI-Driven Local Business Support System: Create a system that uses AI to support local businesses, offering insights, resources, and tools to help them thrive.

Remember, your project should leverage technology to solve real-world problems and create a tangible impact on society.

For your submission to the Ingenium STEM Summer Hacks 2.0, please ensure you include the following:

  1. GitHub Repository:
    • Share a link to your GitHub repository containing all the source code, documentation, and any other relevant materials. Ensure your code is well-documented to help judges understand your implementation.
    • Include a README file with a clear description of your project, the problem it addresses, the solution, and the impact it aims to make. Provide setup and usage instructions.
  2. Google Docs (for No-Code Projects):
    • If your project is a no-code solution, provide a comprehensive Google Docs file detailing your project. This should include the problem statement, your solution, the impact, and how it addresses the topic of social good.
    • Include screenshots, diagrams, and any other relevant materials to effectively convey your project's features and functionality.
  3. Online Project Link:
    • If your project is deployed and available online, provide a link to the live project. Use platforms like Vercel, Heroku, GitHub Pages, or any other hosting service to make your project accessible for the judges to view and interact with.
  4. Submission Video (Optional):
    • You may include a video (up to 3 minutes) demonstrating your project. This video should walk through your project, highlighting its features, functionality, and user interface. Mention the technologies used and how it addresses the topic of social good.
    • Upload the video to a platform like YouTube or Vimeo and provide the link in your submission.

Make sure your submission is well-organized and easy to navigate. Clear and thorough documentation will help judges understand and evaluate your project effectively. Good luck, and we look forward to seeing your innovative solutions for social good!
