Science in action: Shaping the future of energy and security
In the early 1950s, the Idaho National Laboratory became the nation’s test bed for nuclear energy research. It has returned to those roots and become the place where the latest advanced technologies and fuels are validated. The lab’s mission, however, is far more varied than that. INL’s research portfolio spans critical minerals, high-performance materials, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, grid resilience and integrated energy systems. As we strive to transform the world’s energy future and secure our nation’s critical infrastructure, INL is one of Idaho’s largest employers, committed to serving its community and the state. We stand ready to address all of our nation’s energy challenges.
