birdsofshore and isinuyasha's journals this morning thought why not. I did it twice, as the first time I wasn't sure what a few of the tropes were. I think this is reasonably accurate for my ranking of these particular tropes.
Since I'm not particularly involved in fandom these days and don't get much time to play, the main question I asked, was what usually grabs my attention in summaries and makes me want to explore further; thinking of mainly the HP and Merlin universes.
I think the trend is, give me story and emotions! Think I'm pretty much over PWP these days...

As usual, I'm struggling to get it done because I over commit and procrastinate too much. Hoping to have it finished within the next 12hrs!

I have a few WIP I've all but abandoned hoping that one day I might find the time and inspiration to pick up the pieces and try again. I'm relatively content with those.
But there is one story that has been bugging me. I started it earlier this year for the MerlinRBB and though I was relatively determined to finish the challenge, even writing for a month or 2 after the fest had wrapped up, life happen and the drive to write petered out.
If I remember correctly, I think I have like 20k worth of story so far and it hasn't even really hit it's peak yet.
When I last looked at the fic in an attempt to write some more, I found I felt I'd lost or totally changed the characterizations as well as any reference to side characters I'd had in the beginning of the fic. It almost felt like I'd tipped the tables on the characterization of the main pair.
Anyway, I've still have an outline for the ending and I reckon that might take another 10k or so to flesh out.
I have some ideas, but haven't convinced myself on how I should tackle:
a) Finding the drive to write again
b) The wayward characterization
c) Getting back into the story
Suggestions?
I'm thinking of setting a goal to finish it by the end of the year, too.

My Thoughts:
This story is a totally awesome cross between Merlin and James Bond (Casino Royale feels)!
The plot is well thought out, the way the AU world is set drags you right in and the character back story are there too.
Like all good M/A, the chemistry is there from the start and they way it is built upon throughout is wonderful to read.
The story will keep you spell bound and wanting more until the very end.
It may have taken me a while to come back and read it all due to RL, but I'm so glad I saved the link and this story wasn't left lost in lj history.
