Edit: All perfumes have been posted on eBay here. You can still buy them if you're interested, but you'll have to compete with whoever else might come across them.

Need to get some cash together yet again, so I'm selling some limited edition perfume oils I'm not especially attached to. Shipping is $5.35 anywhere within the US regardless of quantity. There is no purchase limit and everything is available on a first come, first served basis, so don't wait around if you see something you absolutely have to have.

How to order: Comment on this post with which perfume(s) you'd like to buy. I'll reply with confirmation and then PM you to set up payment and shipping.

Requirements: A shipping address in the USA, the ability to use PayPal, the ability to receive private messages, actual money

Now to the good stuff )

I've done everything I can under the circumstances: I've voted (absentee ballot due to ill-timed moving shenanigans), I at least contributed to motivating my step-brothers to vote, and I've talked to all sorts of people about various relevant issues in an effort to get them thinking and willing to vote. From here on out it's news, food, and eventually booze because no matter what happens I'll be too wired to sleep otherwise.

Good luck, America! We're going to need it.

What a year it's been! It's the big night already, so let's cut to the chase and load you up with goodies before the little monsters come a-calling. If this is your first year or you're in the mood for some classics, don't forget to check out previous years' installments of Trick or Treat!

Too much spooky fun for one night, but I'm sure you'll manage somehow )

Sure did go a long time without posting. Mostly because there hasn't been a whole lot to post about. Not so at the moment! I finally caved and started selling tarot readings on Etsy, so if you know anyone who might be interested, please point them to The Wise Eye so I can provide insight for money.

Thaaat's pretty much it. /shrug

did I pass the acid test? )

Okay, for the time being, definitely smaller pictures and only when you can edit the post right after. Got it.

J finally realized that even the two of us combined are no longer capable of giving Bowser the attention he needs, so today I took him back to the SPCA for her. Even though he's not actually my dog and I never wanted him to be, it broke my heart to turn him in because I'm the one who's mostly been responsible for him for nearly a year now. He's a sweet dog, even if he is a huge butthead, and he's also still young and already neutered, so I'm confident he'll pass the temperament test and get adopted into a good forever home soon enough.

It sucks that it wound up this way, but I hope J has finally learned her lesson and will hold off next time she wants a dog.

Friday I rear-ended somebody. It wasn't too bad, we were both able to drive away after we reported the accident and exchanged info and all that, but then Sunday my radiator sprang a leak. We thought it would be fine to drive only as far as the service center Progressive wanted me to go to today for a repair estimate, except today I had even more leakage from coolant that had apparently waited until I opened the tank to start dripping forth. Mom got Phaithon towed over to Bob Sumerel instead, so I'm carless at worst and sharing with J at best until that's resolved.

Today I also received my first jury summons. As much as I'd love to do my civic duty, I have only a handful of things I could actually wear, so I hope it doesn't last long.

In fandom news, I finally had to stop tracking the AO3's Marvel Avengers Movie Universe tag because it's just so frustrating. It feels like my first round with Supernatural all over again: most everyone seems to be interested in writing the things I just don't want to read. Mostly, I want longfic of more superhero adventures with a side of character relationships that actually make sense within their particular canon. I want Loki redemption because a) I'm one of those weirdos who actually cares about him and b) I think Asgard is a realm of dicks for reasons that only sometimes relate to him. I want to be able to have fun in this fandom outside RP, but I don't know how much I'll be able to.

So yeah, there's that.

This is a friendly reminder to my fellow US citizens to get registered to vote if you aren't already! GottaVote is a quick, easy resource for getting prepared no matter what state you live in: it tells you your state's registration requirements, when you need to be registered by, ways you can vote if you don't think you'll be able to make it to your polling place on Election Day, and even helps you register by mail if necessary.

Depending on your state's requirements, it's not necessarily quick and easy, but given recent changes in some states' laws it's a lot better than flying by the seat of your pants.

You know what? Disregard my January post about browser text clippers. They're okay--well, Chrome Clipper is okay, I never had any luck with the hotkeys for Clippings--but system-wide text expanders are even better. I recently came across an old Lifehacker post about text expansion programs, which work a little differently from the aforementioned browser add-ons but are so much better for it. Rather than Ctrl+Shift+Whatever or navigating a right-click menu or some such thing, you just type a string of characters you've previously defined and, no matter what program you're typing in, your text expansion program will replace that string with a big glob of text.

The program I'm using, the Mac-only TextExpander, includes some optional predefined HTML and CSS, so for example I just have to type in ,img to get this code: <img src="xxx" alt="xxx" width="xxx" height="xxx" border="xxx" align="xxx" />. Since it has fields you need to fill in, it opens in a separate window where you can input whatever info you have or cancel the whole thing. It's easy to create your own snippets, you can choose whether it works in all programs or only certain ones, and so far I really like it.

So! If you have certain things you type out a lot, you might want to give one of these programs a try!

I still have so many thoughts and feelings about The Avengers that they're bottle-necking when I try to get them out, but get them out I will!

Obviously, this is the point where we cut for spoilers. )

So anyway, I loved The Avengers to pieces and I'll be seeing it again for sure. I don't know that anything will compare to the experience of seeing it at midnight in a theater full of tired but still so excited marathon-enduring nerds, if any other audience I see it with will laugh at as many of the funny parts or as loudly, but I look forward to it anyway.

Once I've slept, there will be a proper write-up and proof of swag and so on, but basically I loved The Avengers and want to cherish it and keep it with me always. If you like Whedon flicks or superheroes or awesome action movies, you will probably like this one too.

Sometimes I forget my sister's almost as much of a nerd as I am, and then she goes out and buys her own nerd shirts for the Avengerthon today. Now if only she'd finish getting ready so she can buy Bowser's new cage and we can get a move on.

Hour and twenty minutes until Iron Man!

Just finally joined Kiva, since they're running a promotion where new users can loan their first $25 free (it's funded by An Anonymous Benefactor), and now I have an invite so other people can do the same thing right here. No idea how long the promotion's running, so if you're interested and don't already have a Kiva account, you might want to go for it sooner rather than later.

You can learn more about how Kiva works here, but basically it takes the whole Kickstarter/crowdfunding idea where a bunch of people each chip in a little bit of money to get a project going and turns it into a loan, which means instead of the warm feeling of helping a project you believe in and swag, you get the warm feeling of helping a small business you believe in and your money back.

I know I had other things I wanted to include in this post when I started, but I don't remember what they were anymore so this is all you're getting. Kisses!

Driving home from Walgreens, this month's survival kit in the passenger seat, Metallica on the radio. So begins Shark Week of April/May 2012.

Cut for people who don't care about periods. )

Today I went out to an actual real live comic store because it's one of those areas in which I would like to support my local businesses.

Just not this one, because it sucks. Here's why: )

I may take a look at a couple other options, but they don't seem to be any more convenient than this one so it'll probably be a while.
instantramen: ink bottle, brush, and papers (scribble scribble scribble)
I'm sitting here with my fic notebook open to the current page, looking at the spot where I'm supposed to write more, and what I really want to do is go to the next page and see what happens next. Except I haven't actually written any of that yet, so it's just blank pages through to the end of the notebook. Foiled again!

Background: these days I've been carrying a couple of Moleskines in my purse. I bought one back in February, because it was shortly after the Super Bowl and I was looking for something I could easily carry around with me for occasions when I'm bored and writing seems like a good idea. It was just the right size to slip into my purse, so I bought it and cracked it open and now I see why people love them so much. That fresh, woody smell when it's new! The crisp, narrow lines stretching the entire width of the page! The floppy cover, which takes so well to stickers!

Yes, stickers. I was bored with the plain black cover as soon as I bought it, but that just makes it easier to customize, so I went and wound up buying some nice scrapbooking stickers to decorate the outside. That wound up becoming my original writing notebook, because more recently I bought a second, identical notebook for fanfic. It has different stickers on its cover so I can tell them apart without opening them. I can fit both of them, a normal reading book, and other more normal things in my purse all together and still have enough room that the book's the only thing that has to go if I'm sneaking pop and candy into a movie.

Mostly, though, I just really love my notebooks.

Just got back from seeing The Cabin in the Woods. I can honestly say I loved it, although I do wish it had done a little more to actually subvert or better examine the tropes it called attention to. But hey, you know what? It's Joss Whedon, you can only expect him to get so far before his id takes over. Spoilerrrrs )

I finally--finally--got a (nice, shiny used) copy of Dragon Age: Origins and am enjoying it so far! I'm still quite early in the game, having only just met the dude who enchants your items, so who even knows how long it'll take me to finish, but I can already see myself becoming a Bioware devotee in the future.

UM FUCK YES. The AMC Theatre down in Newport on the Levee is among those participating in the Ultimate Marvel Marathon (or as I like to call it, the Avengerthon). I just bought a ticket for myself because I don't expect anyone else I know around here to be as hardcore as I am, but I'm passing the information around in case anyone decides they are and can actually get there.

this is just about how I feel right now )

If any of you out there in Internet Land are Android users like me and haven't heard, Box is offering a free, permanent upgrade to any new or existing users who get their Android app through March 23rd. You get 50 GB storage and the file size limit is increased to 100 MB*.

Box is a business-oriented but not -exclusive file storage service, and this current promotion offers twice the storage space you would normally get when upgrading for $10/month. You don't have to use the account with your phone after you get the app if your data plan sucks and are in fact encouraged to access it with your computer, so if you can think of anything you could use 50GB for, do it now (where "now" means "as soon as is convenient for you").

* Obviously, these numbers are relative to what you'd normally get with a free personal account rather than any of the paid account levels.

Nothing terribly important's happened for most of that time, life continues apace. However! This month I was finally eligible to upgrade my phone, so now I've got me a Samsung Epic 4G, which is basically just Sprint's particular version of the Galaxy S. It's so nice! Got the Feeds & Updates widget hooked up to my Twitter, got my emails connected, got widgets for weather, the moon phase, searching Duck Duck Go, power controls, and the task manager, got some nice wallpapers transferred over, and I even have a nice little charge bar at the top of my screen that gives me a better idea of how much battery I actually have left. I also have a screen protector and five games, which is really more than I need for emergency entertainment but whatever.

Now I'm shopping for things to customize the outside of my shiny new phone. Got to have it all!
