Across Europe, hostile drone incursions are increasingly testing the resilience of national and critical infrastructure — from energy grids and harbours to transport hubs and airports. These incursions and provocations expose vulnerabilities, test response systems and signal the potential for more targeted attacks in the future. Furthermore, they also function as instruments of psychological warfare, creating uncertainty, undermining public confidence and imposing operational and economic costs even when physical damage is limited.
This panel asks: how do we protect airports, energy and transport networks from malicious unmanned activity while preserving safe, functional airspace — and how can we build interoperable, cross-border and cross-sector C-UAS frameworks that actually work in crisis?

The session explores how defence, industry, and infrastructure operators can detect, assess and respond to hostile drone incursions in real time. Focus is placed on operational coordination, interoperability of C-UAS systems across sectors and borders, and how shared standards, data and doctrine can strengthen Europe’s collective resilience against malicious unmanned activity.

This presentation will detail the end-to-end development of an autonomous flight control architecture for Dufour Aerospace’s Aero-200. The system is designed to manage all phases of flight (hover, transition, and cruise) through a unified control architecture, envelope protection, and trajectory guidance. By combining model-based control synthesis, gain scheduling, and control allocation within a structured development pipeline, the team has progressed from high-fidelity simulation to software- and hardware-in-the-loop testing, and ultimately to subscale and full-scale autonomous flights.
