Ironwise Performance Score
What is it exactly ?
The Ironwise Performance Score (IPS) is a comprehensive metric designed to evaluate an athlete's performance over time. Every single result of the specified athlete is compared to all the results of athletes with the same gender and weight category in the Ironwise weightlifting database.
The IPS is calculated by assessing several performance indicators across all competitions an athlete has participated in. Each indicator is measured as a percentile relative to other athletes with similar profiles.
The current IPS is an average of the specified indicators below with all the same weight.
A percentile is a way to understand how a particular number compares to a group of numbers. Imagine you have a big group of test scores, and you want to see how well one score did compared to all the others. A percentile tells you what percentage of the scores are below a certain number.
For example, if your score is in the 90th percentile, that means you did better than 90% of the people who took the test. Only 10% of the scores are higher than yours.
Percentiles are used in many areas, like in schools to see how students are performing, in medicine to track growth (like how tall you are compared to other kids your age), or in any situation where you want to compare a value to a larger set of data. It's a handy tool to see where you stand within a group!
