A word of warning about the comments in all the linked articles:

nothing like bringing up feminism in a gaming website to bring out the shitty in people

This is from the comments and it is so very true.  There is the occasional non rage-inducing one here and there but the majority, from what I was able to wade through, were pretty terrible.

When I initially read this article, my hope was that this would bring about discussion and awareness surrounding sexism in gaming - both with developers and gamers.

What has happened since then is a formal response from the developer, and some interesting and thought-provoking articles.

As a woman who plays and loves games, I've experienced quite a bit of sexism.  Whether it be a guy I'm cooping with doubting my ability to handle a BFG or the constant litany of misogynstic slurs applied to girl gamers and female video game characters.  As much as "feminist whore" bothers me, it's bringing this issue out into the open.  And, to me, that is actually a very good thing to come out of this.
