In the demo/example, one of the buttons has the condition in the form of “pnc_flags.get(‘door_unlocked’) == True”. To hide that button, you can add

$ pnc_flags["door_unlocked"] = False

into the correct label.

Under the hood, it’s a screen and therefore everything on that screen (that being the items) disappear when it disappears. One solution could be to show a “fake” version of the item in the exact same position.

I don’t support feeding my code to AI/LLMs.

By default, Ren’Py shaders are applied to individual images, using the image’s relative coordinates. To fully apply this to a layer, I’d recommend showing a Layer() displayable with the CRT shader applied. The “mesh True” transform property could be of help in this scenario.

The example files is a bit misleading, I admit, because it indeed uses image buttons, which I styled to look like text within a frame. The framework looks for image files located in the

gui/pnc/

folder.

The point and click screen works on jumping to whatever string the screen returns. Since the inventory code also returns some values, the loop label interprets True from lines 301 and 308 with the same weight as if that return came from the point and click button. You could add a condition in the pnc_loop label that check if the returned value is True and jump back to the loop, or you could modify the combine_check function from the inventory system to return label names.

It’s disabled by default so it doesn’t throw errors when trying to use the default assets. You’d also need to add a “link” to the screen by having a button with a ShowMenu(“flowchart”) action, which for a default project will be in the navigation screen in screens.rpy The flowchart.rpy file has a basic operating guide for the framework as well.

From what I understand, your calls of the new_node and unlock_node functions are either referencing the description of the name of the node, when they should be called with the label name.

Did you define your flowchart segments, images and any other features as documented in the in-file documentation or did you put the script as it is and ran the game that way?

Thanks for the suggestion about the fixed script update.

About the mouse positioning, the current algorithm takes the value as it is in the cursor. I’ll try to figure out an algorithm that can allow for lax mouse positioning. If you’re in the DevTalk discord server, I’ll post some progress reports there.

Thanks for the observation! I’ve implemented your suggestion (now it only calculates the mask size during init)

The get_size function was actually provided by Feniks a long time ago when I asked in DevTalk and I’ve been using it since.

Would you mind if I update the bar (and other stuff that uses get_size)? Of course you’ll be mentioned in the credits as the one who suggested this change.

Thanks for checking, it should be there now. I had uploaded the wrong version of the file instead, so now I changed it.

Updated the standalone file to include get_size, that was an oversight on my part since I’ve copied the CDD code from one shared file that had the definition once.

And about the demo instructions, I looked at the wrong line in my code, so jump ff_bar_demo should be the correct way.

The PC version of the demo project should be able to support Linux. If you look at the downloads, you should see a Tux/penguin icon - marking it as Linux-compatible. Ren’Py as an engine has Linux support by default.

Standalone .rpy file will work on all supported operating systems.

It should appear if you right-click or press Esc - it’s part of the pause menu.

The reason why it throws an error is because the current_room variable is set to None and that there’s no list of buttons called None_buttons

To be a little technical, the plugin tries to load buttons by looking at the current_room variable, adds _buttons to its value and tries to load the string result as a variable.

If you have a list of buttons (in the correct format) that ends in _buttons (ie. bedroom_buttons), the current_room variable must be updated to “bedroom” before jumping into the pnc_loop label.

The license - if any - would simply state “feel free to use it in and modify for your game, just credit me”

I’ve deliberately made the plug-in barebones even down to the graphics, so that people can customize it to fit their games - including persistent variable support.

I don’t mind it being in your blog. In fact, you’ve made it easier for Japanese developers to work with my plugin (including your modifications) now that they have documentation for it in their native language, so I support this.
