ABOUT

I’m just a simple museum professional, trying to make my way through the galaxy…

I created @museumshift as a form of therapy. I love the field, but sometimes I just need to complain and point out the absurdities I can’t say out loud in professional spaces. Plus, I have far too much TV, movie, and fandom knowledge than I know what to do with. I probably could’ve done something different with my life, but I’m proud that it all gets put to good use here. From poking fun at museum sterotypes to celebrating the quirks of archives, galleries, and collections mangement, this account lets me share my field through the lense of pop culture.

Career-wise, I’m a cultural heritage professional with over fifteen years of experience managing collections, exhibitions, and institutional operations across museums, galleries, and archives. My work spans collections stewardship, historical research, and organizational leadership in complex environments, with a focus on sustainable, behind-the-scenes work that allows institutions to function smoothly.

Personally, I love traveling and experiencing other cultures, especially by studying foreign languages. I’m drawn to off-the-beaten-path archaeological sites and museums, and I will inevitably end up in a cemetery. As a kid, I was the outgoing, friendly, sporty one who could fit in most places, and I loved my interests unapologetically – a combination that never left me. I still get unnecessarily competitive in sporting events, but I can just as easily go down rabbit holes into cryptids, the paranormal, or Star Wars, BtVS, and horror movie lore that nobody else really cares about. Somehow, I’ve managed to pass as normal and respectable enough to work in museums, archives, and galleries, even though my vibe is 100% VHS rental store clerk.

I really wish I could find a way to combine my love of the museum industry with my encyclopedic knowledge of movies, TV, comics, and fandom. While I haven’t figured out exactly what that looks like yet, for now, this account is where it all comes together. Lucky you.
