Code of Conduct

HOW2026 is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants.

We expect everyone involved in the conference — including speakers, attendees, organizers, sponsors, and volunteers — to treat each other with courtesy and professionalism at all times, both online and in person.

Inclusivity and Respect

We welcome participation from people of all backgrounds and experiences. Harassment, discrimination, or disrespectful behavior of any kind will not be tolerated.

Prohibited behavior includes, but is not limited to:

• Offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or national origin
• Sexual images or language in public spaces, talks, or presentations
• Intimidation, stalking, or following
• Unwanted photography, recording, or persistent disruption of talks and events
• Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention

Enforcement

Participants asked to stop any inappropriate behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If an individual engages in harassing or disruptive behavior, the conference organizers — in consultation with the Code of Conduct Committee — may take any action deemed appropriate. This includes issuing warnings, revoking access to the event without refund, or contacting local authorities.

Reporting a Concern

If you experience or witness harassment or inappropriate behavior, please report it as soon as possible to conference staff, volunteers, or the Code of Conduct Committee. All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality.

Conference staff can assist with:

• Contacting venue security or local law enforcement
• Escorting attendees to a safe location
• Arranging alternate accommodations if necessary

We take all reports seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every participant.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all HOW2026 conference venues and events, including workshops, sessions, breaks, social activities, and online interactions related to the event.
