The Overton Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is located in the
delta region where the Muddy and Virgin rivers flow into Lake Mead (although
most visitors only see the
Muddy
River side). The WMA has
extensive, seasonally flooded marshes, saltcedar and willow thickets, honey
mesquite and screwbean mesquite thickets, a few big cottonwood trees, grassy
fields, and several ponds with different depths.
The Muddy River and the Virgin River converge just below this point. This is where the town of St Thomas is located. The Atlantis on the Muddy as dubbed by Maureen Whipple.

This is the easiest place in Southern
Nevada to see Wild Turkeys, and it is a great place to see
waterfowl and wading birds in season.
Mark loves to help his Grandpa Stan keep the water changed on the right fields and the hay all mowed.
Grandpa Stan can name all the
waterbirds (e.g., American Coot, Bufflehead,
Ruddy Duck, Gadwall, Mallard, Northern Pintail, Redhead, Northern Shoveler,
Canada Goose, Tundra Swan, and Eared Grebe, plus gulls and terns the flycatcher and the best one the BS bird!
