Sisters and Squirrel Holes

Image

Kallyn loves to cuddle up to Brielle on our papa bear chair while she watches her movies. She insists on letting her it in her squirrel hole (the little nest in the nook of your knees when you curl your legs up) and on this day she was so comfy she fell asleep!

The girls feel so special and growed up when daddy lets them play with his I-pod touch.) He's downloaded a few fun kid apps that really get them partying! Image
This one is a game where you tilt the i-pod to steer a duck through obstacles as it flies south. You have to watch out for trees, rocks, and haystacks. The girls purposely crashed the duck into the objects and they thought it was histerical! Well, daddy and I thought they were hysterical laughing and playing together!

Bigger is better? and the baby's doing WHAT!!!

Actually, in this case, my new smaller computer is better than my old cinderblock brick laptop. Faster, more portable, doesn't have to forever be attached to a wall in order to suck power, and best of all, Eric stayed out all night after Thanksgiving to wait in line to get a kicking deal for me! So what does this mean? Well, hopefully it means more posts!!!!! with more pics!! However, untill I make time to find time to back post everything that has happened this semester I will only be focusing on posting present events! Starting with our latest genius...
Brielle is officially walking!! Although she crawls if she really needs to book it somewhere (or away from somewhere!) She's taken up to 9 steps at a time. Tonight she also figured out how to blow kisses and give hugs, although it's more of the squeezing grunt sound she makes as she leans into you! And when she mimicked our blowing kisses she discovered how to make the sucking kiss sound! She was so pleased with herself! My great grandpa Morgan used to call that sound a "Smackers on the Beezers". On Monday she discovered clapping and now she claps ALL THE TIME!!!! And she's even figured out how to sign "more" for eating time. If she ever sees us eating anything she starts clapping her hands but using more of her fingers as she starts licking her lips! SHE LOVES food! She eats anything I put in her mouth. She's crazy for refried beans, bananas, applesauce, carrots, and Cheerios. But she gets excited for anything edible! This morning she ate 3/4 of my Malt-o-meal that i added frozen Raspberries to cool it off. I couldn't shovel it in fast enough! I'm so glad she's a good eater!

She's not quite walking yet, but...

this week Kallyn keeps hollering at me that "Brielle just stood up all by herself!" but when I look it's always too late and she's fallen on her bum or her hands and knees. But all yesterday evening she was standing herself up!!! She goes from crawling in the middle of the room then she stands herself up! Just like you and I would! Crazy! But she's not quite ready to walk yet. She likes to stand all by herself and is just content to balance there forever. A lot of Up-Down movement, but no forward motion yet (thank goodness!)

So You Think You Are Crafty....

A super cool idea, I wish I had time to be crafty and make a blog about it!!! Here are 10 moms who have done just that and they are now joined together in a really cool weekly project. If you're crafty, or just like admiring imagination that has become beautiful, check it out here:
So You Think You Are Crafty

It's that time of year - busy time!!

Late in September I got a new calling. 1st couselor in the Primary. SO I said goodbye to teaching the old ladies in Relief Society (which I absolutley LOVED doing and was so sad to stop) and I ventured off to work with their kids and grandkids in Primary. On top of that I started working once a week. I am a Breastfeeding Peer Couselor and I work with expectant moms and new mommies struggling to give their babies the best start! The best thing about it is that I get to take my kids to work with me! Although I think I can get a lot more done if I didn't have them!!! And I think they overpay me for bringing my kids to work.

Add the hubby in his last year of law school, Kallyn in her first year at Kindergarten where we can no longer get away with our spontaneous routine, and all the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season.

Point- I am falling behind on updating the blog!!! I really want to put all the pics I have taken and give all the updates for the girls, but it seems that it'll have to be put on hold, or at least the pictures (they take forever to upload!) We've been doing a lot of things together, had some fun visitors, and a lot of holiday fun. So my postings have been adding up in my post list, but they are all saved as drafts becuase I want to put up pictures to go with them. All in due time I guess!

Kallyn's getting so growed up!

Kallyn has been really sweet to her mommy lately. The other day I asked her to clean up the play room and her mess in the living room so we could have FHE after dinner. She decided that she could do better than that. Instead of cleaning up her mess she figured my mess in my room was more important and a bigger need (my bedroom is back behind most of the apt so i NEVER go in there until late when I'm going to bed, so I still haven't unpacked my things and organized my space - I know! It's been like 3 months and yes, I am going CRAZY!) She tried to explain that she put something special in my room for me, but as a terrible multi-tasker I didn't quite understand what she was saying untill the next day I go to get dressed and I can't find ANY of my shirts! the box was empty! Kallyn had unpacked for me and folded each shirt nicely in my dresser drawers! I am sure she may have had a not so secret hidden agenda behind it all, but yup! It worked! She got out of cleaning up the playroom and I love her even more and more everyday!

Image
Another sweet sign of her devotion she surprised me by doing the dishes! I love it! Of course nothing's coming clean in the wash, but she spent a good 20 minutes trying to figure out how it will all fit! (We have a tiny dishwasher, but she was so determined!) She's going to be a great mommy some day!!! But for now I am so glad that she's my little monkey girl!
Image
Notice she even found room for the plastic disposable cups!

Quick!!! Someone throw a pillow!!!!

Look what my baby started doing yesterday!
Image

She's just a few days shy of 7 months. She's so pleased with herself! She'll balance for a good 10 minutes. She stands herself up on the furniture and she flails her hands up with a cute little squeak then just before she goes down she grabs back onto the furniture. She's so smart and intent on being like her sisters!

Flashbacks

7-4-09
What a perfect place to live in to experience the celebration of our country's birthday!! We had so much fun spending the 4th of July in Washington DC. Eric's parents came to celebrate with us and our experiences at the Nation's Capitol will be hard to top!Image
Eric took the girls to the Parade in front of the White House. Check out their sweet spot! Although, at this point of the day everybody is camping out for spots to view the fireworks.

Sharing a HUGE slice of watermelon with Grammy

Image
Playing with the baby, tossing a football, reading, makin friends with the spanish boy behind us learning how to play UNO = LOTS OF FUN

Check out our spot we camped out ALL day for. We got there just before noon and the fireworks started just after 9pm. But we found ways to entertain ourselves.Image

We were able to meet up with some old friends - Alyssa, Robbie, and Phara (Thanks guys for all the fun!)

CHECK OUT THE VIEW!!!!! This was the most awesome celebration EVER!

Flashback to birthdays...

Image

When Grammy and Granddad Fish visited us in DC back in July we had a little birthday party for the girls on the rooftop of our building. Grammy spoiled them with new shoes (always a hit with Allison) and clothes, and endulged their talents with toy microphones! Thanks for the fun!

Kallyn's in Kindergarten!

Image
Kallyn started school this year. After much debate and thought we decided do Kindergarten at Walker Elementary where they teach K-2 grade. She is in the afternoon class which allows us to continue our slow mornings and late nights. Sigh. When will I ever see a morning again?

Image
Although I dreaded the day I'd have a kid in Kindergarten I kept myself together pretty well, untill we dropped Kallyn off and Allison gave her big hug then tried to follow her into the school. She gave me a look like "I'm not allowed to go with her?" She was so lonely the first few days, but now she kind of likes the one-on-one with me. I'm enjoying the time with her, too. But BOY! I miss Kallyn!!!
Image
Kallyn and her Teacher Mrs. LaRochelle on "Back to School Night" where she showed us her classroom and we met her new friends. I am so amazed how Kallyn has grown up so fast! She most definately is my little ray of sunshine.

She's six months!

Can you believe it! Time has flown by since this angel was once in my bulging belly! She's an expert crawler, she climbs up to a stand on everything even if it tips over! She's fallen off the bed a few times because she climbs up and over mommy and daddy in the mornings when we are just not wanting to admit that it's morning yet. We've learned and now she stays in her bed and she actually sleeps through most of the nights! It also helps that she's been eating cereal so she doesn't have to eat every 2 hours! Here's the first try:Image
It didn't help that the girls insisted on her using her new pink pocket bib from Ikea (really cool concept, but it doesn't really fit when she's in her high chair) it kind of chokes her.

The girls liked all the attention she was getting and so of course they begged to try the cereal. Kallyn tolerated it with a good mannered face. Here's Allisons reaction:Image
First a proud "Mmmm" with a smile,

Image
Then this sweet face. Can you say "YUCK"

Then
.
.
.
Image
Into the garbage goes the icky baby rice cereal and "I think I like my cereal better mom"
What else is new?
She's 14 Lbs 13 oz
26" long and her head is 17"
She had her first shots. She did really well ofr being stuck with three needles, but I was surprized that she didn't have terrible reactions or sore spots. Just a teeny bit more cuddly than normal.

Flash back to 5 months

Image
What a month of growing up!!!! Not only is she a pro at pushing up on all fours, but she also sits up by herself and has even started pushing herself up all by herself. She also is crawling! It started as the inchworm crawl when she gets up on all fours then launches herself forward, then halfway through the month she figured out how to alternate arms and legs. She's so determined to not be my baby anymore!
Image
Image
She rocks back and forth then once she gets brave she throws herself forward, usually to grab a toy or something she's not supposed to have. (the lense cap, Vacuum cord, and of course anything that crinkles!)
Image
She is so happy nearly ALL the time! Basically if she's fed she's the happiest little angel in the world! She's so mild mannered and she LOVES all the big kids. She must think that she's one of them!

Pheonix

7/19 - 8/1
Phoenix was a TON of fun!!! And it was supper awesome because Eric was able to spend a few days with us, too! And he was so excited to FINALLY get another Brother-in-law and no longer be the only in-law in my family. And sweet Brielle also LOVED her new Uncle! It's always fun to get together with family even if there is a lot of stress and anxiety with a wedding to put together!

Image
Brielle LOVED Uncle Tony. She would cuddle right up to him! So sweet. She did the same with Uncle Brian, too. And of course Grandpa!

Image

Eric flew in with a red eye and then had to run to an interview with a firm there in Phoenix. As soon as he came into the house the girls were jumping all over him! And then he and Bugs crashed on the couch for quite some time! I left wth the Bride and bridesmaids to get our nails done and when we got back they were still sleeping!

Image

Aunt Debbie is yet again a favorite aunt! She has always been able to get my babies to coo, smile, and sleep!

Image
Beauty knows 2 Paynes!!!! This is where it started! Hmm, I think I could try that! Gotta love the dye stains on the forehead and ears! Thankfully this was a few days early so the stains were gone before the wedding!

Image
We spent a LOT of time in the water! Of course we had to get up early and get in the pool beofre 8 am otherwise it was like swimming in a hot tub!

Image

Gotta love this one! Kallyn became quite the diver! By the time we left she was even doing tricks and spins.

Image
Allison was just content to pull her floaties on and walk around the pool and check the floating thermometer. "It says it's HOT momma"!

All gone...

Image
Friendly's burned down this morning! Of all mornings! It's the Concord Ward tradition that all the guys go out for Icecream at Friendly's after the Priesthood session of Conference . Not tonight. No more GNO sugar binges, birthday dinners, or free scoops either(unless they build it back up by the summer). We will miss this little diner. Maybe it will be replaced with a Sonic!!! (Wishfull thinking!)

On the bright side, this wasn't the only Friendly's here in Concord. But the one on this side of town has such small tables that even our little family can't fit comfortably in their largest booth. But they still have the magic straws that change colors when you drink through them!

Flash back to four months-Brielle's Blessing

Image
Great Grandpa Cowley, Almost Uncle Tony Silva, Brielle and Daddy, and Grandpa Payne

Extra loves from Grandpa Payne and Great Grandma Payne.

Brielle was blessed on her 4 month birthday. We made it extra special with the trip to Arizona so her grandpa and newest Uncle Tony could participate. It was so wonderful!! Great grandmas were able to give her extra loves and She even had a great grandpa participate with the blessing also.
Image
Her newest developement... She stands up on her own and therefore daddy feels obligated to balance her like a circus trick! I'm terrified everytime he does it, but look at that smile on her face! She knows that she's amazing! Also, she gets to show off the blessing dress in which this trick makes her look like she's floating!

Freakin. Hilarious!!!!

http://willrunfordisney.blogspot.com/

My friend Shannon got suckered into running a marathon. She and her friend (the best friend that convinced her to try it!) are keeping a blog of their journey!!! They are so funny! And quite motivational! Heck, they have me convinced to try harder!

Following my sisters footsteps!

My 2 blonde sisters went dark! They loved it and so did I. So I gave it a try! What do you think?
Image
It's not the best photo, but What can I say? Allison is much more adorable and photogenic than I!

Look what Brielle can do!!!

Image
get down and gimme 20!!!
Ready, set, GO!
She's barely 5 months and she's getting up on all fours. Why do all my babies insist on growing up? They are all so determined to get independent!

We're wanting to get personal...

So we are privatizing our blog. Please send an e-mail to [email protected] and request an invite. We REALLY want all our friends (old and new) and family to have access to the blog.

We're back!

We have moved back to New Hampshire to finish Eric's last year of school. We left DC early this month and took a week to visit friends in Tenn, play in Hershey, Penn. and leisurely drive north to NH. Posts will be added once we have our own internet and we don't have to mooch off low signals from the cafe across the street.

Flight Fiasco!!!

We try so hard and sacrifice so much to try not to spend money. One sacrifice I feel like I am asked to make on a regular basis is my sanity!!!! In order to fly home for Rebecca's wedding we booked cheap flights AKA red eye flights with a layover. Sure my kids are frequent flyer's, but over night? With a layover? And a 1:3 adult/ child ratio (Eric had to work but flew out later)? Crazy and I never want to do it again!!!! Here's how it all went down!

Eris drops us off at the airport, we get everything through the bag check, get our tickets, take the girls potty. Coming out of the bathroom Eric says "You're not going to like me..."(he was the one who booked the flights). I love him, but he was right, for a short time I did not like him. We had a 35 minute layover in Atlanta and our first flight just flashed a "Delayed" across the departure screen with a new departure time 30 minutes later than scheduled. For sure I was going to miss our connecting flight. But if I didn't get on the first flight I would forfeit everything. So I put on my brave face and pushed the girls through security. Thankfully Eric was able to "Escort" us to the gate (ask for an escort pass at the ticketing counter!) which was a huge relief for me!

First flight- Awesome attendants! One of the ladies occupied my girls by letting them help pass out head phones and collect trash. They loved all the attention and I loved the peace a quiet! Then the girls fell asleep and it was a disaster trying to get them off the plane which was in the WRONG gate from our expectations.

Second flight- WE MISSED IT!!!!!! We may have made it if the first flight left on time and was in the gate it was supposed to be and if the First class passengers would have MOVED THEIR SORRY BUTTS FASTER!!!!! Seriously, there's a hundred more passengers that need to get off the plane too! I felt so bad for Kallyn! Imagine me pushing a double stroller with a sleeping Allison and our rolling carry-on, Kallyn trying to stay close without getting ran over, me with the heavy/bulky laptop backpack on my back and 3 month old Brielle wrapped on my front, all running around the airport terminals. We get to the counter with 10 minutes before the departure time only the gate has already closed and there are 5 others waiting at the counter with frustration written on their faces. There were 3 other guys running behind me and then came a family of 4 hustling over out of breath!! Kallyn tells me "But I ran the whole way!" She was so sad I couldn't help but cry myself! I would think that with so many people they'd have held the flight! And here's the salt- after we all got our new flight arrangements THE PLANE WAS STILL THERE!!!!

WAIT! There's more! The attendant at the counter gave us vouchers for the Sheraton Hotel. So I gather myself together and brave the world outside of the Atlantic Airport. We had to walk a bit to get to the Airport shuttle station which was a ZOO! I guess there was more than one flight that was missed! The first shuttle we saw leave was the one we needed-it was PACKED. I pushed my way through the crowd and over to the other side where the shuttles first drive through so I could see where to expect the next Shuttle. After 20 minutes of waiting (remember this is at 12 midnight with three little ones that need their sleep more than mommies do) we finally see the Sheraton shuttle turn the corner. I hope and pray that it will stop in front of me so I don't have to run through the zoo of people. It pulled up two spots away and we were first in line to climb on. The sweet old guy that was driving wouldn't let me pick up the carry-on case or the stroller! What a gentleman. I was thinking "I can do this, I can do this!" Then when we got to the Sheraton it was full! Not a single room available!! Is it time to freakout yet? So then it's pushing 1 AM no where to go, hungry, and we booked the later flight the next day instead of the early flight so the girls could sleep in a bit. The sweet driver put me back on the shuttle and drove me the the Westin Inn and told them to take care of me. So away we go from a 3 Star to a 4 Star hotel! All on Delta's expense for not holding the plane! And they wonder why they're not making any money! So we get to this amazingly beautiful palace of a hotel where there is a wedding/ "Ball" going on and the girls are mesmerized with the fancy gowns and the glass elevator we take to get to our room. Kallyn zonks out almost immediately as does Brielle, but Allison was to wound up from all the stress of braving the world of travel without our prince charming. So I put Josh Groban on my Zen and I fall asleep while Allison falls in love with "Josh".

I had packed PJ clothes and our night time favs for the trip in our carry on, however, I didn't want to mess with the whole 4 ozs liquid rule and so I left my toiletries in the other suitcases. Did you know that Contact solution costs $8 and does NOT come with a case? But toothbrushes and toothpaste is complimentary! So I had to make due with what I could find!

Image

We wake up, order room service for breakfast, and head back off to the airport, fly to AZ, our bags were already waiting for us as well as my mom and dad!

Remind me to never travel at night with kids ever again!!!!
