Hello everyone,

I'm having a lot of troubles with Java. I noticed a few days ago that no Java applets load. From what I've figured out, it's the Java Virtual Machine specifically that isn't working (it's either corrupted, or not enabled).I've gone to java.com, and downloaded the latest JRE version, and have tried all their suggestions; I've checked that the JRE is enabled through my browser, I've enabled the JRE through the "Java Plug-In Control Panel," and I've cleared my browser's cache. Still no Java applets load (I've checked multiple sites, too.)

One of the suggested fixes java.com gave me is that the JRE could possibly be not obtaining proxy information my browser/platform. The site then goes on about proxies, blah blah. I don't know what a Proxy is, so I need help! Here's the page with the suggestion I'm having trouble with:
