02:31 pm - Imagestipe - Java Browser Components

I'm looking around for an embeddable component that can be used to render HTML in Java (essentially, I need to embed a web browser in a Java application). Said component needs to work on Windows, Mac, and Linux, and should be reasonably up-to-date in terms of the standards it supports. Open-source and/or free are nice, but far from required.

So far I've found:

Has anyone used either of these products, and if so, any comments? Alternatively, is anyone aware of any other products that would meet the above criteria?

Apart from using System.gc(), does anybody have any handy hints for saving/reclaiming memory?

EDIT: Thanks for your help, ppl. Some of you (andys!) have gone way above the call of duty helping me here and I really appreciate it. Long story short, I screwed up big time. I know what I've done wrong; Now I'm gonna figure out how to fix it. After my OO Design exam, that is.

Considering shelving the whole project for a while; a "walk before you can run" thing. It's such a pain in the ass when you know exactly what you want to do, but lack the skills to do it.
