Freedom
I've come across various free-as-in-speech Java implementations and even considered contributing. But I wondered what would be the point? Unsurprisingly, perhaps, Richard Stallman has a strong opinion about this. In summary, he objects to the Sun licencing conditions for Java, and he thinks Java developers should be targeting one of the free implementations, not Sun's Java. I've read his article and I'm completely unconvinced. Should I care about "The Java Trap"?
