up/down scroller??

hey everyone... this hopefully is the right place for my question. i'm working on a website for my 'travelingheadproject' and i need to figure out how to create a 'scrolling news box' on my site. there's one on the www.1000journals.com website which is exactly what i'm looking for. i assume it's java script. i don't know much about html, i'm learning as i go. i've looked around the internet for 'scrollers' and all of the ones i see appear to be 'constant.' i need one with a start and stop rollover. basically... JUST like the one on the 1000journals.com homepage.

ANY help would be appreciated. i need to get my website done so i can get the project up and running.
