When we went to Cowabunga Bay we got a flier on our car for a free game of laser tag at this place called America’s Incredible Pizza, which was just across from Cowabunga Bay. We looked it up on-line and it looked like fun so we decided to try it out today. Brian came in last night so he and Ryan joined us for a buffet lunch and games. We figured we could do lunch there with kids and make it fun for them, because we were getting a babysitter to go out for dinner later that night. We found some coupons for the buffet and game cards, but it still seemed a little pricey. Oh well, I thought, we’re on vacation… In my cheapness I was just hoping it would be worth it. To make what could be a very long story short, we got there around 1pm and didn’t leave until almost 8:30pm. For starters, the buffet was actually pretty yummy. Everyone seemed to find something they really enjoyed… even if it was the cherry slushies and soft serve yogurt (yes, we thought of you Papa). As we were finishing up eating, there was a commotion going on in the common area by the buffet. The kids went out to see and found a dance party going on with some of the workers dressed up in costume. It was super cute. They were doing all kinds of interactive kid friendly dances. The electric slide, the Miley Cyrus hip hop country dance (I don’t know what it’s called), the Macarena, and quite a few others that I don’t know what their called. It was fun though. – Yes, I did have to join in! You know me… how could I not participate in a dance party! Anyway, if you danced with them for the majority of the songs, you got a free attraction pass. They did the dance party about every hour and a half to two hours and by the third dance party, Jayleen, Janell and I were all dancing for passes! (and maybe for fun as well)

So then there were the games, which were ok… but the attractions were pretty fun! They had mini go-karts, bumper cars, glow in the dark mini golf, laser tag, and mini bowling lanes. They were fun enough that we ended up having Clint and Jayleen meet us there at the pizza place because we were running behind. When they got there we had enough passes that we had Jay and Clint go on the go-karts with us. There was enough of us that it was just our family group on the track. We got reprimanded a little for our “bumping” but we figured it was all in the family so it was ok. We went from having enough passes to take Jay and Clint on one ride to all of us playing laser tag, and riding the go-karts at least 3 times. The workers came to know our little group and we got away with quite a bit of “bumping” on our last race! We are all pretty competitive, so it made it a lot of fun. I kept trying to tell them that “it’s just a little rubbing, and rubbing is racing.” (Days of Thunder)

By that time everyone was getting hungry again. We had been in and out of the buffet area, participating in the dance parties, and the kids would grab drinks, slushies and snacks. The workers all said that it was fine. When we looked at the time, we realized that to make our dinner date we would have to quickly leave and take the kids home and feed them and head out to eat. Finally we succumbed and we all just at dinner there. Before we left I was letting the kids pick out prizes from the tickets won, and Brian was letting them get their faces painted. The face painting lady was quite amazing. She did an amazing job and she was fast! Jade was bat girl, Cambrie had a bat wing, Hailey had a butterfly, Colby was Lighting McQueen, Daxton was the Incredible Hulk, and Kaydin was a butterfly princess. I would guess that the kids had a great time, and it wasn’t too horrible for the adults either.

After we got back to the house Ryan had some fireworks that he had gotten to set off while the kids were all there. Since it stays light so late and we wanted the kids to get to bed at a decent time we went ahead and set the fireworks off in the alley that evening. It didn’t seem to matter to the kids that it was still light out. The fire, colors and loud pops still did the job of entertaining everyone!
Later Samantha and Jeff came by and finally the adults slipped out for a little yogurt trip. (yep, thought of you again Dad) We shared great stories and learned that Jeff likes to stir sticky pots. (j/k Jeff) Anyway it was day of pleasantly unexpected fun! Thanks Ryan, Janell, Jay, Clint, Sam, and Jeff.
