Lake Tahoe -- Family Reunion

At the end of July, we headed to Lake Tahoe for my family reunion.  We were excited to leave the hot weather here and head for the mountains.  Since we drove up, we took two days to drive there.  We stopped in Mammoth for the night and then headed to Tahoe.  It was beautiful and very cool!  We loved seeing everyone and enjoyed our time together.

This was the first time the kids had been on a boat.  They were a little apprehensive at first, but enjoyed being out on the water.

This is a quick snapshot of some activities...feeding ducks, gondola rides, hiking, s'mores (Brittany loves s'mores; Michael loves to cook them).

Kindergarten for Brittany!

Today was Brittany's first day at Kindergarten (what's up with starting school in August?!).  Anyway, she was so excited and couldn't wait to start.  There were no tears (from either of us); she is more than ready to learn (she's wants to learn to read very badly).  She already knows all the letters and their sounds, now she just needs to learn how to put it all together.  When I picked her up this afternoon, she said she "loved it!"  Let's hope she feels that way for the next 19 years or so of school (through college).

One Last Beach Trip

We took one last trip down to OC last weekend to visit Tyler (who just returned from his mission) before Brittany starts school.  Plus, the kids were so excited to see some of their cousins, especially Tyler.  As Michael said, "Missions are a very long time."  It was a quick trip, but it was fun to see everyone!Image

Catching Up--Preschool Grad

Yes, Brittany's preschool had a graduation.  The graduation was used to show the parents what the children learn throughout the year.  The children walked into the room wearing their cap and gowns, they performed several songs/dances and they received their diplomas.  Mrs. Salphy did a lot of work with the children.  Funny thing is that Brittany doesn't like to perform when we are around, so we pretended to drop her off.  Then we came back into the room (Michael loved this part) and sat way in the back!Image

Brittany is 5!

Lucky, lucky, girl!  The Wednesday before Brittany's birthday, Sally & Noel came for a quick (very quick) visit in order to celebrate her birthday.  This is a picture of her with one of their gifts -- her favorite -- pom poms!  She had the time of her life pretending she was a cheerleader!Image
On Brittany's actual birthday, she had a swim party (at a friend's house).  July is usually very hot here, so we thought it would be a lot of fun.  The weather was a little weird (we actually had rain drops that day -- what's up with that?!), but the kids had a great time anyway.

The cake!  Brittany picked out her own cake.  Now, I know this is a surprise...she picked out a Princess cake!  I think she wanted the crown and wand more than the cake though.

Getting ready for the Summer look!

Brittany and Michael's cousins sent these glasses to the kids in prep for Summer!  They love them!  Michael even took them to church to show his buddies.

Looking for an Egg Hunt

Whoever said egg hunts are only for toddlers?  Brittany & Michael's older cousins had as much fun (and we just as competitive) and the younger ones!  Here's Erin reviewing her loot!Image
