Thursday Jen and I were driving to Toronto to see Theory of a Deadman and she got a text message saying Michael Jackson died. Both of us were in complete shock and didn't know if we should believe it or not. We turned on the radio and sure enough they said Michael died of cardiac arrest. I really almost cried. I absolutely love Michael Jackson. He was the best singer/dancer/performer. No one will ever accomplish what he did. I still get upset when I read articles or see it on the news. I just can't believe it. I never felt this way about a celebrity dying. This one just really touched me.
Anyways, the pictures I took from the concert turned out amazing. I'm so happy with them.
Theory of a Deadman
Friday we went to Johnny B's for My Darkest Days. These pictures turned out well too.
My Darkest Days
We were chatting with Matt (the super hot singer) after the show and I mentioned that my aunt and uncle have a 'cottage' in Havelock. He is from Norwood which is like 30 minutes or so from Havelock. So apparently he has a cottage on the same lake as my aunt and uncle. And he said to let him know when I'm up there...he has a seadoo. ;)
I just assumed he was being friendly/making conversation...but Jen actually took it as an invitation.
I emailed my aunt asking her if she knows anyone with their last name up there :)

What a busy weekend for me.
Friday evening was the Relay for Life. I met Jen there just before 6 and she kept me company until about 9. Then Arnold and Tai showed up. Then Ange and Chris, then Nick, then Melissa and Amanda. Oh, my aunt and uncle and cousin also came. I was so happy everyone came out for me. I didn't actually start my walking until after midnight. I had such a great time. It's an amazing feeling to be part of this. I raised $505 in addition to the $200 I donated myself. Oshawa's total was $500,000. Last year Oshawa was the top fundraiser. I actually stayed up the whole 12 hours without the aid of caffeine. I started getting tired around 4am and felt like I was a zombie walking the track.
Pictures of the event
I already started my own team for next year too which I am really excited about. Knock Out Cancer
So, I got home around 7:30am Saturday and slept until just after 2pm. I took my time getting ready to go out to the Brooklin fair. Arnold and I met some friends there with their new baby, then went to the demolition derby for 8. I wasn't happy we had to stand because all the bleachers were full, and I started feeling sick from lack of sleep and proper nutrition. (I was very disappointed in the onion rings I got there. Just thinking about them now makes me feel nausous) We left the fair at 9. I had fun though. I brought my camera but forgot the extra batteries in the car so I could only take a couple pictures. My digital camera makes me mad, so I'm gonna start looking for a new one. I think I want a step down from an SLR. Something that will take better pictures than a 'point and shoot.' Arnold's aunt is a photographer so I'm gonna email her about what to look for.
So today we had to go to Mississauga for my cousins bridal shower. I actually had a better time than I thought. It was nice to spend some time with that side of the family. Just hang out with my cousins for a couple hours.

My dad was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2003. He has been doing well since, but this past year it came back and has spread to other parts of his body/organs.
I really don’t like to talk about it so this is quite hard for me to do. After so many years it’s still hard for me to accept and I still feel like I’m stuck in the denial stage.
It kills me knowing that I can’t do anything to take this away from him; and every other person who has to deal with this disease.
This June 5th I’ve decided to take part in the Cancer Society Relay for Life at the Civic in Oshawa. I've joined the team "KX96 Cardio Core Bootcampers". This is my way of supporting him and everyone else affected with cancer. It’s also my way of being strong for him, myself and my family, and maybe a way to get myself over the fear of cancer. I have trouble dealing with it emotionally, so maybe I should deal with it physically.
I just collected donations for the Heart & Stroke, and while that organization is important to me (since my grandma had a heart attack a few years ago) this one touches me deeper, in a different way.
There are two ways for you to support me in this event and I would absolutely love it if you can do both.
1. Please donate to the cancer society
convio.cancer.ca/goto/jennhorruzey
2. Please come to the event for moral support. It’s a 12 hour event and I can sure use some friendly faces to keep me going from 7pm to 7am.
I try to remember that cancer is a word, not a sentence.

I had a really great birthday yesterday thanks to Jen and Arnold.
Arnold called me at 10am saying to get ready cause he is coming to pick me up in 15 minutes to go to Purple Woods. I didn't really want to go because it was super windy and just miserable outside. But he said we planned to go, so we went. So we got to Purple Woods and it was closed due to high winds. We were sitting in the car and all of a sudden another car pulls up beside us and it was Jen. I didn't know what was going on, I wasn't expecting to see her there. Apparently her and Arnold planned to get some of my friends together. However Jen was the only one who could make it. Tai came as well, but I knew about that. So, because Purple woods was closed, we went to the Mandarin for lunch. Originally it was supposed to be just Arnold and I for dinner. But going for lunch with Arnold, Jen and Tai was just as good. The food was amazing there. I loved it! After lunch Arnold and I went back to his house and napped. My cell phone started ringing which woke me up. My sister called to say Happy Birthday cause I didn't see her in the morning. Then not long after that my aunt called. I won't be seeing her or my uncle tonight at my grandparents because my uncle is working in Mexico right now. But I'll see them next weekend for Easter.
For dinner, we went back to my house and had Swiss Chalet. Then just hung around a bit. I called Johnny B's to see if it was actually free to get in tonight to see My Darkest Days. It was, but My Darkest Days were apparently not going on until after 11. So we ended up meeting Jen at the AMC to see Knowing. I enjoyed the movie but we had to sit in the very front row. That's literally a pain in the neck. After the movie we headed over to Johnny B's. I got myself a ceaser that cost me $7 and was exteremly strong. Took me awhile to drink it and I was definatly feeling the effects. It was fun :) My Darkest Days didn't end up coming on until after 12 I think. Arnold obviously wasn't enjoying himself so he left and Jen said she would drive me home. I didn't get home until almost 2am.

Health wise, I feel I am doing really good since my slip up a week or so ago. I haven't eaten junk since the beginning of the week and I'm eating healthy portions and meals for breakfast lunch and dinner. On Sunday I went to the gym and did the Cardio Triathlon test. It consists of 1.5 miles of running, 2500 meters rowing and 150 calories burned on the bike. Apparently the average person can complete it in 40-45 minutes. I did my best to try and make that time but I couldn't do it. Treadmill - 18:54 Rowing - 12:55 Bike - 22:55 Total = 54:04
I was still happy with myself for actually doing it.
Gail was sick today so I decided to try to beat my times for the 'triathlon' today. I shed 4 minutes and 8 seconds off which is good but I still am not 'average'. Treadmill - 17:11 Rowing - 12:54 Bike - 20:31 Total= 50:36
I worked my ass off today for those times. I think my rowing could have been a little better if my back wasn't hurting.
I've been having really bad back pain right under my shoulder blades lately. I believe it's from bad posture. Well, my posture is a lot better now than what it used to be, but if I slouch or it isn't optimal, at the end of the day it's really painful.

I saw the dr. today to review my blood work and see how my antidepressants are working. He renewed my prescription for the antidepressants and told me to take them in the morning since I've been having trouble falling asleep ever since I started taking them.
My blood work revealed I have low B12, so he wants me to take a supplement. I also found out that I've never had the chickenpox and the mumps vaccine never took when I had it as a child. So, I got the MMR vaccine today. My hemoglobin tests were MIA so I had to go and have more bloodwork done for that. My PAP tests were also MIA so he is looking into that with LifeLabs.
He gave me 3 packs of Aleese and my mom said I can call the office and ask for more 'samples' instead of paying the pharmacy to get them.
Oh, I'm also going to leave the pharmacy I'm with now and go to the Superstore pharmacy...the dispensing fee is $8.99 at the Superstore compared to $10.99 at the Clinic pharmacy.
After the dr. and bloodwork I went to the mall again. I bought Smooooth Legs The guy at the store opened a new pack for me to try out. I was surprised how well it worked. I have a small area on my arm now that is hair free and super smooth. And I got it for $20. I also bought a new pair of Airwalk sneakers. I've been searching for a pair of Airwalks (that I liked) for years now, ever since I had to throw my old ones away. Those shoes are so comfortable. I also bought 'The Daily Fix' by Women's Health with my Chapters gift card.
I went shopping Sunday to look for jeans but didn't find anything I like. I think I'll just stick with Bluenotes.
I didn't eat very good since Saturday. Fish and chips, pizza, fries, fries, pizza, poutine. I'm feeling guilty for it now. I'll just have to follow one of the sayings in a magazine I read. It's something along the lines of 'if you eat a unhealthy meal, just make sure you follow it with 5 healthy meals'. I packed a good lunch for tomorrow; brown rice with salsa, vegetables and chicken breast. It makes me feel better knowing I will eat healthy tomorrow. I also see Gail tomorrow which is a plus. Oh...I've almost lost 20lb's now. Just 1 more pound to go!!

Happy new years everyone!!
I spend last night with Arnold, and our friend Cliff at LeSkratch with Mobile and My Darkest Days. My Mobile 'friend' Rob was there with a girl (who looked to me like his girlfriend but I don't know) so I went up and talked to him.
I was right up front again for the concert. My Darkest Days were playing when we got there just after 10pm. They were really good. Mobile came on before midnight and stopped the concert to count down which was cool. They played a super long set. Well, longer than normal. At least an hour and a half. As always it was a great concert.
I got ready when Mat went to throw his towel to the crowd. He was standing in front of me and he threw it straight up. Me and another girl went to grab it but it slowly floated to the right of me on the stage. So I got down on my knees and leaned over to grab it. I said I was going to get his towel this time ;) And a picture with him too. I waited for Mat to come out and I grabbed him so I can get a new picture of him :) Hes a really nice guy <3
On the way out I saw the singer of My Darkest Days and got a picture with him too. His name is Matt as well.

I didn't take very many pictures because I had less than half of battery power left and wanted to make sure I had it to get my picture taken with Mat. Other pictures of Mat can be found www.facebook.com/album.php

Last Thursday I went to an exclusive Mobile and Chris Cornell concert for The Orange Lounge taping at The Phoenix. I actually won the passes from the Mobile website. Jen ended up winning 2 as well, so we went with Tyler. The concert was good. However a little disappointing, they only sang 6 songs. And an hour late...Chris Cornell finally shows up. He was ok, but I wouldn't have cared if we missed him. I was so tired and my back just ached from standing for so long. I never took any photos since it was being filmed. I just wanted to enjoy the show.
A few days ago I saw a facebook event saying they were going to play at the Horseshoe in Toronto for another free concert on Tuesday. I wasn't going to go because I was just in Toronto and I didn't think Jen and Tyler would want to go back. Well, I decided last minute(that afternoon) that I'm gonna go even if I have to go alone. I was going to get Arnold to go with me but he had to work in the evening. Jen probably would have went but she had to work 3-7. I ended up getting Tyler to go with me and meeting another Mobile fan who I starting chatting with on Facebook. None of her friends were able to make it either.
Am I ever glad I decided to go to this concert. It was the best concert I have ever seen. First of all we got to watch their sound check. That was cool. Then when USS was playing(before Mobile) Gene Simmons walks into the venue with his camera crew. I just read an article on his website about him seeking 3 Canadian bands for partnership deals and a reality TV series.
Finally, just after 10pm Mobile came on. I was standing front row centre, right underneath Mat <3. I was so close his sweat was dripping on me. When he shook his head up and down his hair almost got in my face. I could smell him. He smelt like medicine though...which makes sense because he was sick and using Halls and a throat spray throughout the concert. His mic wires got in my face and his knee touched my camera. At the very end he got down on his knees right in front of me. I still can't get over it. I took pictures and I didn't have to zoom in at all. I also took video of The Killer and their cover of Baba O'Riley.
Halfway through the set I could tell Mat was sick before he even mentioned it. You could just tell he was straining his voice but he's a trooper and did a great job.
Anna (the girl I met) saw him after the show when she was on her way to the washroom after Tyler and I left and she said his voice was pretty much gone. She also ended up getting his towel. As they were walking off stage, I wasn't paying attention, and he threw his towel at us and she caught it. Tyler said he was looking at me and threw it at me. I wish. Oh well. I still had a better spot at the show. Amazing.
He actually accepted my friend request on facebook too. I'm gonna send him a little message letting him know how much I loved the concert last night :) I can't wait for the next on in December with the Trews!!

I went to a free Mobile concert last night with Jen and Tyler at Yonge & Dundas. It was for the Best Buy Game Invastion. Tyler played the games while Jen and I watched the concert. It was amazing!! It wasn't as busy as we thought it would be, and we ended up getting up right to the front. I was right beside the speaker so the sound wasn't that great for me, but the view was. I got some good pictures.
They played for about an hour. Sang songs from the new album which is so good, along with a few from their older album and some covers.
After the concert Jen wanted to go see if we can find them. We went to the back and Mat Joly was there just talking to some crew(I think) he saw us hoovering around and came over to us and asked if we wanted a picture taken!! Jen and I each got a picture taken with him!! That made the end of an awesome concert! He was actually really nice this time around. When they played at the college a couple years ago they didn't seem friendly to the crowd and stuff. I was really surprised when he came over. I was thinking is he coming over to us?!
