I came, I saw, I blogged… The Second Coming

The 1 Month Challenge

When I am really lucky, my kids would be asleep by 8PM and I would have some me time. I realize that it has been a while since I last updated is blog and it is not because of lack if resources. I just really didn’t have the motivation to update.

So I’m giving myself a month: to update at least once a week and see where this will take me. Don’t expect lengthy novellas. I just hope that I get to update longer than what twitter would allow me.

2013: Here’s To The New Year!

So it’s the start of another new year.

Last time I updated this blog, I only had one kid and now I have two.  I only had a boy and now I have a girl too.  I used to live in an apartment, and now we’re in our teeny tiny condo.

Seriously, I don’t really know why I bothered to reopen this account.

Maybe its a way for me to get started on writing again, or it’s a way for me to do something to remove any traces of boredom.  Or maybe, I just want to get rid of the cobwebs in my brain and try to be more creative.

Last year, I wanted to start a group blog with a good friend of mine.  We already had a concept and all sorts of ideas as to what that blog was about.  We wanted to practice writing about things that do not concern our daily jobs.  Unfortunately, that did not pan out.  First, he had time to do reviews and all these stuff, and I could barely find my groove.

This year, I wrote down my goals.  My goals did not include writing.

Oh happy day.

Si bulilit – update

My son and my hubby are now sporting similar haircuts.

Going on a date in the afternoon

When my husband was still courting me he would often go to our house inthe afternoon, a little after lunch. My mom used to call it ligaw intsik. Because of his class schedule we could only go on dates in the afternoon.

When we started working, we startedgoing ona ritualistic dinner-movie-coffee date on saturday nights, mass-dinner on sundays. We looked forward to the weekends as this is the only time we were able to see each other during the week, except when his scheduleshifts and he’s suddenly looking ata weekday off.

When we were newly married, thursdays were our date nights. We would treat outselves to a dinner and movie and take advantage of the mall to while away time while waiting for color coding to clear.

Now, with a toddler, we’re lucky if we could get away with a once a month date. That is if we’re really lucky to have available grandparents to watch over him. And we could only do it on afternoons as that is the only time we could get away with minimal interference with our boss’ preference.

It has now gone full circle.

Update after sucha long time

I’m immensely enjoying my new phone. I get to plurk, update facebook, ym, check my email and read ebooks always anywhere now.

I also loaded some of the son’s videos so he gets the entertainment he needs when he is restless. And then now I get to blog using my phone.

So maybe now I can update more often. No excuses to slack.

Exciting!

Balancing Act

One of the things about being a working mom is that you get to stress about the little things less.

I will admit it.

When I was staying at home with my son, I would usually stress about the littlest stuff. Is he getting enough to eat? Are his hands clean enough? Is he getting enough sleep? Is he watching too much TV? And the list goes on.

But when I started working again, that started to wane. I just wanted to enjoy being with my son. Playing with him, putting him to sleep, feeding him. I guess because I always think that we have less time with each other, I started enjoying that time together. Unlike before when I always thought I had more time because I really wasn’t doing anything.

I will never be the best mom nor will I be the best employee there is. But I guess, I’m happy being this way. It just has it’s way of balancing itself.

Living in the ùrbs

I love living in the city. We are very near where my mom lives and just a few minutes away from my in-laws. DA POGI and I are also a few minutes away from work and there’s no mad rush to get out of the house in the morning just to get to work on time. There are plenty of food establishments to order from. Life can sometimes be easier just because everything is accessible.

Last Sunday, my family went back to our Cavite house as we have a possible tenant who wants to take a look at the place. I suddenly missed Cavite. There is something so nice about living in the suburbs. My son ran along the streets and enjoyed every minute of the cool BER-month breeze. He saw our neighbors dog and he wanted to go near it just to see why it was barking. Our house was on top of a hill and there was no flood damage during Ondoy. We were just so relaxed that day that I had doubts renting out the place as it could possibly be a weekend getaway for us.

Of course all the emotions vanished when we went back and encountered traffic on a Sunday afternoon.

But I still miss that house.

It’s been a while since I last posted. I can blame it on nothing. Life just got in the way of things and I just haven’t updated. I guess I was having a good time, that I forgot that it’s been more than a month since I last updated.

June Round Up

So what happened in June?

I was able to attend a financial management class and I really learned a lot. I thought I was doing ok in terms of managing my cash flow but it seems that I could still learn a thing or two and tweak how we are currently doing our budgeting. And because of that class, my husband and I realized that there really is no point with us living in Cavite when all the opportunities that we currently have are in Manila.

So that’s that.

Second week of June had me moving back and forth from my in-laws to my parents house. We were literally living through our suitcases. We go home to our house in Cavite for weekends, but I never bothered to unpack knowing that the next Monday, I would be on my way back to Manila.

Eventually we found our own place. It’s an old apartment complex a few minutes away from my parents and in-laws. So parts of June had me preparing for the big move. We finally moved in last Friday. I am hoping that we can prepare the Cavite house for the new tenants by end of July.

Nothing is happening on the job hunting front. I am still jobless and aside from that one and only interview, I have not had any interviews yet. I was offered a job BUT at the last minute was told that someone else would be taking the job. I was sad but I realized that maybe He has something else lined up for me. And because of this, I am trying to make the most out of my time at home but still looking for something.

My son is now saying Mama, Papa and Wowa. He learned to say those three words in a span of 24 hours.

I’ll try to update again later. My boss is now awake and craving for attention.
