Ammon's 2nd Birthday!!!

We celebrated Ammon's birthday with family. As much family as could be there. He turned 2 the 11th and I am so thankful for such a fun boy! I love that kid's personality! He doesn't like cake but likes ice cream. Weird, I know! Here he is with some cake and ice cream. YUMM!
ImageYUMM!
ImageThis was the cake and cupcakes I made with some help from some friends!! Thanks for teaching me Cathy and Robin! Your both Jewels!!!
ImageAmmon opening gifts. Once he opened my parents gift and found the cell phone, he wasn't interested in any other gifts. Are we surprised? Grandma and Grandpa Petty also sent a gift a few days later. He wouldn't stop playing with it!! Thank you everyone!!

FAMILY!!

One thing that Jesse and I love is FAMILY!! We get so excited when family comes to visit. This last weekend Jesse's cousin Sarah and her husband Trevin came to stay with us for a couple of days. Friday night we called Sheldon and Tasha to see ifthey wanted to join us at Cafe Rio. We took Sarah and Trevin there since they had never been there. After we ate, we came back to our house to visit and play a little rock band. It was so good seeing all of them. Good luck with all you guys do Trevin and Sarah! Thank you so much for coming to visit!! We love you and miss you already!

Beginning of a new school year!

As a tradition in our family, Jesse and I decided that each of our kids would receive a Father's Blessing before school started. It doesn't only help them during their school year but also gives me some comfort as they are faced with harder trials than we were growing up. I can't express enough how blessed I feel to have a husband who holds and honors the priesthood. I know that lots of families do this, but when you and your spouse decide to do this with your own kids, it's completely different and, in my opinion, so much more rewarding. I love him with all of my heart! He is extremely loving, very supportive and the hardest worker I know. Thank you hun for doing so much for our family! WE LOVE YOU!!

Aurianna's first day of 1st grade!!!

ImageWe had a great morning full of screaming, whaling and nashing of teeth. Yes, we were late to our first day of school. In fact, we were late the entire first week. Is anyone surprised?! "NOT I," said the good mom. Things calmed down AFTER we found our groove, but we still expect screaming and crying almost every morning. Our days just wouldn't be the same without it! I LOVE GIRLS!!! Here are just a few pictures!
ImageThe school is right around the corner from us so we decided to walk.
ImageThis was taken in the first grade pod right after the 2nd bell had rung. Yes, I told Auri to stop so I could take a picture of her and her cool lunch box so she'd be even more late. I know... I'm a bad mom. We love you Auri!

Aniston's first day of Pre-School!

Ani is attending ABC ETc. at the Valley View Rec Center on Mon, Wed and Fri in the afternoon. Aniston was more than ready to start pre-school! She was so excited and so was I. Preparing "school work" for her was getting to be pretty demanding. Monday went very well. She woke up Tuesday morning with a sore throat and a fever. Later in the day her skin became very blochey (spelling?) and I knew she had strep. We went to the doctor's later on to take a colligen (sp?) which came out positive. Unfortunately, she missed her second day of preschool, but was better by Thursday so she went back on Friday. YAY FOR ANITBIOTICS!!!! Here are just a few pics of her first day!!! We love you Aniston!

Kids are so honest!

ImageAuri had written this note for me one Sunday morning. I think she knew that I was having a rough one.
ImageAuri and Ani have this hanging on their bedroom door. For those that can't read it, I will interpret...
"Only girls can come in. No boys allowed because if all the girls are in and the boys are in too, they will like us but sorry no boys allowed." So let the "No boys allowed" club begin.
ImageI think some kids find it easier to write notes to people instead of being verbal. Auri is definitely one of those kids. She wrote this note to me the other day and I couldn't help but come to tears. Translation: "This Note is about I love you."
Image (Continuation inside the note) I love you when you do not know how. I love you any way you are."
I think women in general put a lot of time and effort in how best to show love to their kids. I sometimes draw a blank, have a brain fart, etc and really don't know how best to show my kids I love them and am very proud of them. Even "when i don't know how" my kids still know that I love them and think the world of them. And I'm grateful to know that they love me, "any way (I am)."

Some videos from our Vacation on July 4th '09

This was taken at my parents house where the kids loved taking rides on grandpa's 4 wheeler.

Ammon winning a duck at the little carnival at Liberty Park on the 4th of july.

Finally a Petty Update....

Do to the recent recession that we are in, we decided to limit our posts to "ZERO" since January. We feel that it is ok now to do some posts that are desperately in need of posting. There has been a lot that happen to our little family in the past 6 months. We will start with Jesse.
Jesse is still working for Timet and working very hard. He has gone through a lot of changes there, he was a leadman (supervisor) but due to the current lay-offs they took away that position and placed him in a lower position in his department. He is still going to the Art Institute of Las Vegas for the 4th year in a row...AHHHHHHHHH! He is going to graduate in march of 2010 crossing our fingers if work doesn't screw us over again. Jesse finished our back patio a few weeks ago with cobblestone. It looks fantastic!! He also finished building a planter for a garden which will be planted very soon as well.
Next is Shannon, Shannon is still a stay-home-hottie mommy. Making the home a safe haven and helping the kids grow in the gospel and in school every day. Currently she still has braces in preparation for a jaw surgery that will happen soon. No luck with the health insurance to help pay for it so we have to see what the doctors and hospital will do for our situation.
Next is Aurianna. Auri is 6 years old and finished Kindergarden..Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! She loves to read fancy nancy books and any other book with words. She loves to read the Book of Mormon at night we it is time to read scriptures. She is learning quickly and all of us are very proud of her in all that she has achieved. Auri and Ani did swimming lessons with a wonderful lady in our ward Sister Michelle Oehler. Auri is still a big help around the house helping out everybody. Losing a lot of teeth her adult teeth are coming in and she still looks beautiful.
Ani would be next in line. Aniston is 4 years old and I think the terrible fours is among us. She is still acting silly and wants a laugh in all that she does. Attention is her middle name and our family wouldn't be complete with out her. Ani is Auri's best friend and they do everything together. Ani loves her new bunkbed and also her barbies. She still loves watching movies and does not like very much meat, not a petty gene nor a mangum gene.
Ammon is 1.5 years old and is very much a cuddly boy who loves to be hugged, kissed, roughed up a little bit, electronics, computers, the wii, video games, getting dirty with daddy, dancing and pulling his sisters hair as much as possible. He is very animated in his facial expressions. He has been the most difficult part of the family, demanding things that we really don't know what he wants, he only says "auhh" or "duah" please let us know what he means by this because we don't.
Well in a nut shell that is about it for our family. We will post a bunch of pictures and videos for your viewing plessure!

This is aerial shots of the valley where my parents live. And the stormy pictures is what we had on the 2nd of july. It was seriously very nice to feel REAL rain on your body instead of acid rain in las vegas. What a relaxing enjoyable vacation we had.

At Grandpa and Grandma Petty's house

Here is where my parents live in Liberty UT "ZION". It is very beautiful country up there in the mountains but I need a little bit of city life where I go. Fresh air, moose and elk eating your grass on your lot. This is what las vegas will look like in the 2nd coming "yea, I am crossing my fingers"!

Vacation Picture Super Post

The first three pictures were taken at Hogle Zoo which we went on Wednesday the 1st. We had a blast!!

Here is another picture of the Liberty Park activities.

This is Grandpa Petty giving wise advise to Auri and Ani. I think the advise was "be like your parents when they were your age!"
Image
This was at Liberty Park where you take a ride in the crazy caterpillar.
Image
Charla wanted to enter the stick horse riding race.
Image
This was the recreational area for Wolf Creek Lodge. We had Mikeal's birthday party here. It was a blast.

This was the park at the Wolf Creek Recreational area.
Image
At Wolf Creek there was a lake where you can canoe and fish and swim. So Auri, Ani and I went on the paddle boat. I scared them to death when I wanted to touch the huge metal balls on the side of the lake. They thought I was going to sink the boat if we touched it.

The Steve thinking process!

Shannon trying to curve her back, not really working very well but still thinking hard!

The many portraits of Steve.

We made a obstacle course in the backyard where all the kids had to go through. They had a fun time doing it. I think they did it only because they wanted to smash water balloons in the middle of the fun.

Here are all of the grandkids on the Petty side. Starting from the back left to right: Charla (Sheldon's) / Aurianna (Jesse's) / and Bryce (Sheldon's) the front row left to right: Chase (Carrie's) / Mikael (Carrie's) / Ammon (Jesse's) and Aniston (Jesse's).
