Matching Jammies...

I remember my mom dressing all 3 of us girls the same and I swore that I would never do it to my kids, but I just can't help myself! They look so darn cute in matching clothes!!

Empty Box...

This toy box here is usually loaded with toys. Amelia decided that it would be fun to unload it....

Kendall's first bath...

I took Kendall to my mom's for her first bath. She can get her house warmer faster and I didn't want to give her a chill. She absolutely loved it! She loves showers even better!

I have been a total slacker on my blog since Kendall arrived and I'm terribly sorry to everyone who has been waiting for new pictures of her. I am enjoying having my baby around too much I guess and rarely spend any time on my computer!
We have been adjusting well to having 2 little ones in our house. Amelia still loves Kendall and has become quite fond of me being home from work for the past month and a half. I don't think she is going to like it when she finds out I have to go back to work in a few weeks! Kendall has been growing like a weed. I think she probably already weighs about 12 pounds! She stays awake a lot longer during the day now and is a wonderful sleeper! She has been sleeping through the night since she was 3 weeks old. It could have been sooner than that, but it was not an every night thing until she was 3 weeks.
Jason got laid off at ON and will start school in January. We are really excited for Christmas this year and the opportunity to spend it together as a family. Jason's parents and brother are flying in to see us all on the 29th and will stay for a week. We've been cleaning the house like crazy trying to make it look presentable! It needed a good reorganization anyways.
That's about all that has changed since my last post really. We are supposed to get a foot of snow tomorrow so hopefully we will be having a white Christmas! I hope to find some more time in the coming days to post a few more blogs with pictures. Hope everyone is well! Until next time.

Dancing Girl

This video is so cute of Amelia dancing! I uploaded it to YouTube so that the sound would be better, turns out it is messed up on there too, but it doesn't really matter! It's funny, just click on the link and it will take you to the video. If you have facebook, it's better to watch on there!

Winter is Here!!....

The first "real" snowfall of the season! I was up to nurse at 5:30 and there was not snow. When I got up to nurse at 8:00, this is what was looking back at me! Jason had already shoveled the walks!
Image Image Image Amelia loves to watch Ni Hao, Kai-lan. This is how she was watching it this morning. I have a feeling she is going to have bad eyes!

A Baby Story...

I was set to be induced at 6:30 on November 3rd. Jason and I got up at 4:45 and headed to my moms where we dropped Amelia off with Nan and Dot for the day. I called the hospital to make sure that I had a bed, and they said to come in at 7:30. We hung around for a bit and then Jason, Mom and I headed up to Idaho Falls.
~
Once we got settled in the room, I was checked and was still only dilated to a 3, but that's better than a zero! They started the pitocin drip and Dr. Isbell decided that he was going to wait until noon to break my water. My contractions started to get pretty painful at about 11 a.m. and my nurse told me that I should "get in line" for my epidural considering that Labor and Delivery was full and there were about 4 girls in front of me. So I said bring on the epidural baby!
~
Noon came and went and still no Doc to break my water or the magic man with the epidural. I was pretty much ready to die by this point! My contractions were pretty consistant every 2 to 2 1/2 minutes and they were hard! Doc finally showed up at 1:30 to break my water. He checked me and I was dilated to a 6.
~
The medicine man showed up at 1:45 and started my epidural. I don't know if you knew, but with Amelia my epidural did NOT work! I pretty much had her with no pain medicine whatsoever, except I couldn't feel my legs! Anyways, back to this time. He got it in, and while I was hunched over, he put in the medicine and there was this shooting pain in my lower back and I could not move. I felt so paralyzed and I was really scared. They said that it was too far away from the sight to have anything to do with the medicine, but I sat there for a good 5 minutes not able to sit up straight because I was in so much pain. Apparently God heard my pleas of agony and made it all go away and I was able to move again. I laid in my bed for another half an hour waiting for the epidural to kick in. All the pain had concentrated into my left leg, so weird! I finally elevated my right side and all the pain was bye bye. I hate not being able to feel my legs, I think that's one of the downsides to an epidural. I felt useless when they asked me to move my butt around or something haha!
~
By the time all that was done, it was 2:30 and my nurse remembered she needed to put in my cathater. That was put in and I laid there for another half hour. My contractions were completely gone by this time. I don't mean that I could feel them (I couldn't) but they were completely gone off of the screen. I was no longer contracting. My nurse was off at 3, so when the new nurse came in to see how I was doing, I had told her that the contractions were gone. My other nurse came back in and said that she would check to see how far dilated I was because she was the last one to check me. She was like, uhh wow, you are complete! She made me push a little and she was like, yep there is a head! I'm going to go call the doctor!
~
Everything from there went so fast! The doctor was there within 10 minutes. I never felt like I needed to push really, but there was a lot of pressure like I needed to take a poo (come on you all know that feeling!). At 3:30 I pushed one time and it was like she shot right down. I wasn't expecting it to happen so fast and it sorta hurt and all I could do was cry! Of course she was face up, but with the second push during that contraction, she completely turned facedown. On the next contraction, I pushed once and the head was out. A few more little pushes for the shoulders and WELCOME TO THE WORLD KENDALL!!
~
She was perfect! And she looked just like Amelia did. Jason got to cut the cord again! After I was all cleaned up, the rest of my family got to come in the room, INCLUDING AMELIA!! I was so excited that my nurse allowed her to come in with me! It was such a special moment for me to have both my babies and Jason there! Amelia took one look under the hat they put on Kendall, saw all that gross matted down hair and all she could say after that was "Ewww, hairs!" She did not like that it was dirty! We got to keep her in the room with us for over an hour, and I even got to nurse her before they took her to clean her up. I didn't get to do that with Amelia. Jason went with her and got to give her a bath, which he said was so slippery that the nurse had to take over for him haha! He was not used to handling a little baby anymore!
~
I stayed in the hospital for 48 hours after she was born because that's what the pediatrician recommends. It was a great stay. I loved all the nurses that I had, what an awesome experience! So much better than the first time I went. I felt so much more energized this time, probably because I didn't push for 50 minutes! Poor Jason had to sleep on this fold away bed that wasn't big enough to even roll over on! We had many visitors, and it was so fun to show off our new little bundle of joy to everyone! I tried to get pictures of everyone that came, but I found that I didn't get even half of the people that showed up! If you have pictures, please email them to me!
~
A special thanks to Jason for staying awake this time! I'm so blessed to have you in my life and to help me through the hard times that I have. I love you so much. Thanks to my mom for helping us so much with Amelia while we were staying in the hospital, and an even bigger thanks for being there to help me bring Kendall into the world! Thanks to my sisters for watching Amelia when Mom couldn't. You guys are the best! And thanks to everyone else for the phone calls, texts and visits that we have recieved since the baby arrived. We are so blessed to have such awesome friends and family!
Image Image Image
ImageQuick story about this picture: The thing on her umbilical cord is actually a tracking device! Jason was holding her one night and the nurse came in and said that her computer had told her that our baby was missing. Apparently this little sucker tracks were the baby is at all times and if you get too close to a door with it on, it locks down the hospital! How cool is that! So no babies can be taken from the hospital until their mom gets that contraption removed! I thought that was awesome!

New Hair Do...

Okay, this has nothing to do with the girls except the cute picture, but my mom got her hair cut yesterday and it's super cute! She had been telling us for a few days that she was going to get it cut like Jamie Lee Curtis and so when she called me and told me she had finally cut it, I made her come right over so I could see the train wreck. I DID NOT want her hair that short! When she arrived, it was not the mess I thought it was going to be, and I actually love the look on her. She donated 4 braids to Locks of Love totalling over 56 inches!! Isn't that amazing! I love the hair mom, thank you for not going Jamie Lee Curtis on us!! Love you!

Big Sissy...

Amelia has completely suprised me with her reaction to the new baby! I'm so grateful that she loves her sissy! She is even a little territorial when it comes to other people holding her. If I hand her off to one of her aunts or even Jason, Amelia immediately starts yelling MINE! MINE! I think that if she could hold that baby all day long she would! Her little face just lights up when I ask her if she wants to hold Kendall. She runs right to the couch and gets ready! The whole time she pats her face and kisses her anywhere that she can reach! I love it! I was really afraid that she wasn't going to be so clingy to me anymore, but none of that has changed. She's still a mama's girl!
~
We've had a few accidents where Amelia was a bit rough and so we were having two kids having screaming fits! She has slapped her in the face, kicked her in the back of the head, kicked her in the face and tried to sit on her quite a few times! None of the kicking incidents were on purpose, and she said sorry and kissed her better! Otherwise, these two are shaping up to be best of friends in the future!
ImageImage Image

Amelia has to be as close to Kendall as possible, and in this instance sitting in the laundry basket, full of folded laundry, was the only option! With her bowl of Cheerios none the less!

Kendall Blaire Goretsky

Kendall joined our family on November 3, 2009 at 3:40 p.m. She weighed 8 lbs 9 oz at 21 inches! She has a head full of hair and at first glance she looks EXACTLY like Amelia did. Once you get to know her you will find that she has Pappy Larry's nose and my face shape. Her hair is lighter and not as long as Amelia's was, but when she's sleeping she looks just like daddy, just like Amelia! It's been a fun few days. I will post more about the delivery when I have more time. Right now I'm just trying to get pics up for Jason's family to see!

Amelia LOVES Kendall!

Amelia loves to hold "the baby"... she never calls her Kendall, but she tries hard to say her name. She's a little rough with her, we are working on that haha!

The sound is off by a few seconds and I don't know how to fix it. Sorry!

Womb With No Room...

We all have that one room in our house, you know the one that all the junk is piled up in and there is absolutely no room for anything else. The ROOM WITH NO ROOM! Well I am officially a WOMB WITH NO ROOM!
~
Went to my doctors appointment 2 days ago. Doc said they changed my due date to November 7th 18 weeks ago (failed to tell me!). Also said he'll be out of town on the 7th, he'd prefer to deliver rather than the on-call, so he thinks that November 3rd sounds like a good day for me to have the baby. The plan as of now is to be induced on the 3rd. He will check me at my appointment next Thursday, and here's to hoping that I'm dilating at least a little bit! I really don't want to be induced from a zero again. I really don't want to be induced at all, but once I got to thinking about going into labor on my own and then having to drive all the way to Idaho Falls and the possibility of having a kid on the side of the freeway or something, it's rather nice to know that I will for certain have the baby at the hospital! Are we all set for the arrival of Baby Girl Goretsky #2? If you aren't then you have 10 days to get that way! Good luck!

COOL!

I don't think Amelia even knows what "cool" means, but it is certainly her new favorite word to say! Anything she does, reads, watches on TV, finds something new to play with, ect... she always exclaims, "COOL!" It's the cutest thing ever!
~
She's also decided that Dora the Explorer is her new favorite show to watch. And she knows how to let you know when she's ready to watch it cause she will come up to you and yell "Dora, Dora, Dora, Dora, Dora!!" **Mammie (formally known as Grammie**) bought her a Dora chair to sit on while she's watching TV, awesome! I also got her a Dora backpack since she just loves the backpack on the show! I didn't think that anyone could steal her heart away from Mickey Mouse, but I was wrong! Mammie found some awesome Dora fleece to make a blanket for her big girl bed, and I'm sure soon enough we will be over run with Dora everything!
~
Another new thing she has started doing when Jason is picking on her or just trying to play with her, she just yells over and over again, "daddy, daddy, daddy!" She has the tone in her voice like leave me the heck alone DAD! If he even looks at her the wrong way she yells "Daddy!"
.
.
.
.
***I don't know why Amelia started calling my mom "Mammie" and you would think that it would be confusing for her to have a Mommy and a Mammie, but you can tell the difference between the two when she says them. I think the funniest part about it is that before Amelia was born I told my mom that I was going to teach my kids to call her Mammie because my dad goes by Pappy. Pappy and Mammie is just hilarious to me! But, I swear I did not teach her that, she came up with that one on her own!!!

tHe PiGgY fLu....

Jason has been totally freaked out about the H1N1... mostly because pregnant women are at the highest risk and, well, we all know my delicate condition! I swear he bugged me about getting a shot every day for 2 weeks straight. At my check up last week, I asked about the shot because I had heard that Bonneville County had just gotten their first shipment and distributed to OB offices first. I was double lucky that day!! My OB had only gotten 10 vaccines and I was the first to get one, not to mention they were only going to vaccinate if you were 36 weeks or higher, and I barely made the cut! It put my mind at ease and I know that it helped Jason and my mom as well!
~
The next day, Amelia had an appointment to get her regular flu shot at the Pocatello Children's Clinic, and it just so happened they had just gotten their H1N1 shipment too, so Amelia got both flu shots! That was another one of my worries put to rest! My mom and Jason are in the high risk category because they will be primary caregivers for the baby when she gets here, but they were turned away to get the shot because the baby hasn't been born yet. We are thinking, even if they don't get their shots we will be alright. We just plan to stay in and make sure people who come around us wash their hands well or just don't come by if they aren't feeling good! I think they are going to try again for the shots at a later date!
~
Jason and my dad's work was giving the regular flu shot a few days ago. Jason, me, mom and dad all went up and got one together. This is the first flu shots my mom and dad have gotten since they were in school, my mom couldn't even remember if she's had one before at all it was so long ago! I'm so glad that they decided to get one, I feel like we are all safer that way! Now it's just a matter of keeping ourselves as healthy as we can, and hoping that nursing the baby will help her not to catch anything too crazy!
~
As a side note: if you are wondering why pregnant women are the highest risk here is the reason: the Swine Flu is not what is killing people, it's the other illnesses you develop while your body is trying to fight the Swine Flu. Pnemonia is the leading cause of the deaths. When you are pregnant, especially in your last 4 weeks or so, your body is so tired and worn out, your immune system is already weak and your lungs are so small from being squished, once you develop the Swine Flu, the next step is Pnemonia and your lungs just can't take it. Pretty scary crap if you ask me!

Winterized...

Saturday ended up being a really nice day, in the 70's, so when I got home from work I rallied Jason and Amelia to get our front yard all cleaned up and ready for winter! We put away all of our lawn ornaments, raked leaves, mowed the lawn, weed wacked the weeds in the driveway and flower beds, cleaned out my car and put up the rest of our Halloween/Harvest decorations! Amelia had so much fun playing in the leaves! I know there are a lot of pictures of her in the piles, but it was a lot of fun to watch her play in them!
~
While I was taking a breather from raking up the leaves, Amelia grabbed the broom to help me out! She did a good job of spreading them around and running through them!
Image
My big helper!
Image
She slipped off the sidewalk and fell into the big bush! But she musta thought that was pretty cool cause she kept falling back into the bush on purpose!
Image This is my favorite picture! Her faces says: Haha, DAD! I'm putting them in my hair and stopping you from putting them in the trash can! Neener, neener, neener!
Image Calling for the puppy next door!

ImageAnd finally our driveway!
I don't think I've ever posted pictures of our house on here! I def need to get pics up of the inside so everyone can see where we are living for the past year!
