Three Holidays

This year Liam wore his costume before and on Halloween (last year he told me he was going to be a pumpkin and then refused the costume). Luckily cowboys wear "normal" clothes. Madelynn is modeling a dress of mine when I was her age, which made for a perfect Raggedy Anne dress.
Thanksgiving gave me pause to reflect on all the wonderful blessings I have.
Now the Christmas season is around the corner. I am on track to be prepared for Christmas early in December, with the hope I will be able to enjoy the true meaning of the season with my family as Christmas approaches, without having to stress about all the material things.
Enjoy the Seasons!

Fall Harvest
I always get excited over harvesting the garden.
This year our kids helped weed and pick the vegies.
Madelynn especially liked the green beens.

Little Miss

On my time and my way, that is how this one operates. As long as I have my Mom's full attention all is well, if not, well...its not always pretty. Its been that way since day one. At the hospital she was brought back to me, saying she was hungry, she wasn't, the nurses just couldn't get her to stop crying. She stopped as soon as I picked her up.
I struggle to get any large projects done or for that matter small projects. If you come by and hear crying, don't worry, she has just been left to play on her own.
I also am amazed at how little sleep this one needs. Don't get me wrong, she is the most adorable girl around. We wouldn't trade her for anyone different. Demanding, clingy, needy, yet independent is just challenging.

Aa aa AA AA, this is Madelynn begging to be picked up.

Shoes!! This one knows where her shoes are at all times. She regularly brings me a matching pair to put on.
I love and hate the fact that she refuses to be fed. She also loves her bracelets and begs to wear them. Hair bows are another matter.
She caught on quickly whats in the pantry. If the door is left open, that is where you can find her.
Before and after of a pantry discovery.

Moments That Matter Most
Remembering to slow down and enjoy life has been my goal this summer.
I find, the more I focus on my children the more I have to "let go" of the other things in life. Jon the other night wondered what happened to many of our hobbies. (They are there, just not as involved or frequent.) I am constantly reminding myself not to worry about a clean, orderly house. Its okay that there are strips of cut paper around, as Liam loves to cut everything out. Its the human interactions that matter most. Children are only little for a short time. What we do now, is important. I am not superwoman, mother and teacher, but with a little hard work, frustrations and luck it will make a difference--well at least I keep trying to tell myself this for comfort.
This is at least my goal, to try to remember what is really important. How we react in the moment is an important teaching event.
