It's a racoon!

Here's the latest baby pictures I have... these were taken on May 7th. Doesn't that hand look kind of like a little paw? I laughed when I saw it and said, "Oh! It's a little racoon!"

Image
Each time we get to see him, his bones show up a brighter white as they continue to develop and calcify. And he's definitely getting a little more crowded in there... It's such a miracle! And check out his close-up! What a handsome little baby.

Image
But I saved the best for last... in this shot, if you look closely - you can see him grabbing his feet! Isn't that adorable? I don't know why it surprised and delighted me so much. I thought, "Oh, he likes to play and grab his toes and do all the things that a real baby does!" But of course he does! He is a real baby! He just hasn't officially made his grand entrance!

Image
Especially since this last ultrasound, I just love to think about him and wonder what he's doing in there! The other day in church, he was playing with Jordan, I swear... Jordan would kind of shake my belly and then the baby would answer back by kicking twice. Then Jordan would do it again, and the baby would kick back again! I suppose in reality, maybe the baby was just trying to tell Jordan, "Hey! Knock it off!" but I prefer to think of it as playing with Daddy. ( : But even if he was just being cranky, it's still cool to be able to interact with him. We love our little racoon baby!

Doctor Guapo and Jenny's Baby Belly

Bueno, for those of you who don't "habla espanol" - Doctor Guapo is Spanish Imagefor Doctor Handsome! Wooh, yeah! Jordan looks pretty sweet in his white coat - I always look forward to the days when he has to wear it to shadow doctors and stuff like that. And in this picture, he's also sporting his classic smirk which we all adore - making him all the more handsome! On a more serious note... In light of our upcoming anniversary (May 5th) I want to say how much I love my big, tall Jordan! He's such a sweet and thoughtful husband to me and he's been so supportive throughout my pregnancy. He's been there for every doctor's appointment and he's always doing little things for me around the house. Most of all, I appreciate Jordan's kind words. He tells me I'm beautiful every single day (no matter how pregnant I appear), and he never fails to makes me laugh. He's the best! He's got one more big round of tests (finals, really) and then he's officially done with his first year of med school! Crazy!

And now, here's a couple more pictures (for the folks back home) of my ever-growing-baby-boy-belly! It's pretty weird seeing your body change so rapidly, but it's all in the noble name of motherhood, no? ImageImage The kiddos at school are always asking me questions about the baby and the bolder ones will even pat my tummy and say "hi" to the little guy inside. Instead of asking, "When are you due?" or "When will the baby be born?" it's always the same question phrased the same way... "When is your baby gonna come out?" which to me, sounds so graphic, but whatever! I actually like the attention. It makes me feel loved to see how excited they are for me. A fifth-grade girl said to me the other day, "Don't worry, Mrs. Singleton. You're a great teacher here, so I'm sure you're gonna be a great mom!" How sweet!

ps. I don't think I've mentioned this yet... Jordan and I have been called to attend the Milwaukee Spanish branch. Jordan is a financial clerk and a Sunday school teacher for the young men. I'm the 2nd counselor (over the Beehives) for the young women! It's a different church experience for sure, but we both enjoy it. It feels good to feel so needed - there's always plenty of service to be done there.

Baby boy pictures...

Image
Image
Here's our second round of baby pictures. I can definitely tell that the little guy has grown when I compare it to the last ultrasound 2 months ago. He's running out of room! I don't think the radiologist caught as cute of a profile shot this time, but he's still adorable! And look at that perfect little foot! To put it all into perspective... From head to rump, the baby measures about 6 1/2 inches - about as long as a banana. And that tiny foot is only about an inch long! I was told that this would be my last ultrasound (unless my pregnancy ran into some problems) - which was kind of a sad thing to hear. I love looking at our little boy! Well baby, I guess we'll see you again in August! When you're actually here!

So much for mother's intuition...

Oh, what an awesome morning we had! Ever since we found out I was pregnant, we've been thinking this baby was a girl - but today's (20 week) ultrasound revealed that we were dead wrong! It's a baby boy! ImageFor sure! He was active and wiggly (Hey, Jenn - I drank orange juice beforehand like you said!) so we got a clear view! The radiologist's exact words were - "there's no doubt!" I was so surprised! I admit, I had even already purchased a couple of pink items -looks like they'll be shower gifts now! Hah! We're totally thrilled to be having a baby boy though! And we were again grateful to see that he was strong and healthy and right on schedule with his development. But oh man, it is so funny that we were wrong this whole time!

While we were leaving the hospital, I stopped to use the restroom so Jordan stood and waited for me... when I came out, he was standing there with this happy, dazed smile on his face. I laughed and was like, "Hey, are you thinking about your son?" He just smiled bigger and said, "Yeah, sort of." He's going to be such a cute dad. I don't know how I'll put up with two rowdy boys, though! Look out for Jordan junior! Coming August 28th! Aaaaaah!

The baby bump!

Image
And now for the belly shot you've all been waiting for... Sorry- it's not a great picture, but you get the idea. It'll do until I post a better one, anyway. It's so weird having a big gut, but at least it'll come in handy for Jordan to rest his popcorn on at the movies and stuff. I've been feeling the baby move for about 2 weeks now and it's so fun! This has got to be the best part of pregnancy... not having to wear hardcore "maternity" clothing yet, no more morning sickness, energy is up, feeling the baby move inside you... it's awesome!

p.s. We find out tomorrow morning whether the baby is a boy or a girl! For whatever reason, we've been thinking of the babe in terms of a girl, so it'll be funny if we're wrong - we'll have to change our whole mindset! A baby boy would be awesome though too! I can't wait to find out! Aaah! Crazy! Stay tuned...

We're havin' a baybeeeeee!

Okay, so this is kind of old news for most of you - but it's new to the blog since it's been forever since I posted! So here's the only pictures we have so far of the bambino... These were taken the day before Valentine's so they're a bit outdated by now, but oh so adorable! Notice the sweet little profile... Am I just already a biased mommy or is THAT a pretty baby?? And I love its little legs and knees too. So darling!

The baby was surprisingly active and animated during the ultrasound. I guess since I wasn't able to feel any of the baby's movements yet, it was easy to imagine the baby just being curled up inside me - not doing too much but sleeping and growing. Man, was I wrong! That baby is busy! It was awesome to hear the heartbeat and see the baby stretching and moving all around. Its tiny heart was racing - I guess the little one was really excited about something! I took an instant liking to the lady who did our ultrasound too. She obviously enjoyed her job - she was just laughing the whole time saying what a cute, entertaining baby we have. She said she has seldom seen a baby so active this early on (which has Jordan worrying that this will therefore be a very hyper child)! Time will tell I guess... I was just glad to finally "meet" or baby and to know that it's obviously healthy and strong! What an awesome experience...

An itty bitty update...

Image
A tiny update is better than nothing, right guys? Hey -want to see some pictures of our home in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin? Okay. Here's a nice summery one - although it's rather snowy and c-c-COLD here now (observe Jordan playing air guitar on his snowshovel).
We love our new little home (even though we get lonely for loved ones back in Utah). Life is busy, but good. Jordan is plugging away at his Imagemedical school dream (he just finished his first semester) while I'm working full time at a nearby elementary school called Underwood - "Home of the Fireflies!" Funny, hey? As far as church goes, we're both serving in the primary with myself as chorister and Jordan as the primary pianist. We tell them that our name is singleton because we like to siiinnng!
More later... but in the meantime - Happy New Year to you all! We love you and hope you're doing well. Cheers!
