Track and Field

Image

A coupe of weeks ago the family track meets started up. It is so fun to take the kids. They are loving it! If the adult events weren't so late we'd probably stay for those too.
Myles and Wyn have been competing in the hurdles, 50 meter dash, and the 100 meter dash. It's so cute to watch! Wyn wore a leotard and flip flops the first week and crashed on the hurdles and got a black eye. The next week she still wanted to wear a leotard, but opted for some tennis shoes. Myles got 3rd place in the 50 and Wyn got 3rd in the 100. They were both pretty excited to get a different color ribbon. They even have races for 1 and 2 year olds. :) So I think tomorrow night our little Piercey Pot will be competing. :) Love these babes!!

An Afternoon at the Park

There is a tiny park right around the corner from our house. It's nice to have it so close!

Kenny doesn't always get to go with us, but this day he did.
I was trying to get some really nice pictures of the kids, but the only one really cooperating was Pierce.  Anyway, here is what I got.

Love his brown eyes!

The Brother-Sister Fun Run.
One of my favorite days ever!

A few months ago I asked my brother, Brigham, if he wanted to do a race with me before he deployed. He agreed and we looked for a real race to do, but couldn't find one that would fit in his schedule. We really wanted to do a marathon. So we decided to make up our own race. This is actually the second time I've been involved in a "made-up" race and I really love it! A couple weeks after Brig and I planned to do this I told my sister, Tess, about it and she came up with an awesome surprise for Brig. She wanted to have each of our siblings surprise him at different mile markers. Brig didn't think he'd be able to see everyone before he deployed so this was a big deal and very exciting!! We were missing one of our siblings, Adam. :( He had to work, but he was definitely there in spirit.
So Brig and I trained as best we could, but the week before we just weren't feeling ready for a marathon. So we shortened it to a half.

Anyway, with the help of everyone involved we pulled off such a great surprise and seriously, such a special day. It was amazing!

I had t-shirts made for all the runners and this is the day I got them.
I was really excited how they turned out.
Kenny drew the picture of the brother and sister running.

Morning of the race.
It had been a rough night with Pierce, but that wasn't stopping me!
I went and said 'goodbye' to Myles while he was eating his breakfast.

Me and Brig before the race with our pre-race jitters. :)

The three surprise runners!!
Tess came from Boise, Krystal came from the next town over, and Ylfe came from southern California.

Once all the siblings were running together some of the nieces and nephews joined in as well.
See little Wyn in the pink shorts?

It was fun running with Myles and Wyn for part of the way even if I did have to carry her a little. :)

Fuel up.

And we finished!!
Brig and I ended up doing 15 miles!!!
Longest run ever for both of us!
My sisters and the nieces and nephews ran around 8-9 miles I think.
SO AWESOME!!

Siblings forever!

The water/pick-up, drop-off crew: Kenny and Tyra.
They were awesome! Especially since Tyra is pregnant and she met us at many points along the way with drinks and encouraging signs and our theme song, 'Hey Brother.'

We also got to go to the temple all together which was so special! I thought I had pictures, but they were all taken on Kenny's phone. Anyway, it was such a special weekend.
We will miss you, Brig! Love you all!

Kitchen Demolition

Ugh, looking at these pictures make me so tired! We moved into our new house in February and started remodeling the kitchen right away. It's been a lot of work, but I think it will be worth it.
These pictures are from a couple months ago, so we are a lot farther along now. THANKFULLY!!

Here is Pierce trying to get in on the action. :)

Here's Kenny ripping out the old cabinets and the wall on the left. It is now just a pillar.

This is on the other side of the old wall and old countertop.

Myles destroying the old pantry.

The old kitchen before it was ripped out. The wall on the left is the one that is now just a pillar. There used to be cupboards all along that wall and the the right wall as well.

We have all our new cabinets and countertops on now, which is exciting! This weekend we will be doing the floor. I am excited to finally have flooring down, but sad too because we've had a lot of fun painting and drawing on the bare floor.
I have to say I am so proud of Kenny. He has done all the work himself with some help from friends and the missionaries. :) I have been the cleaner-upper and painter in this project, but my major contribution to this project has been a wife that doesn't freak out because the house is a CRAZY mess. I have a hard time when things are out of their place (like having the old kitchen cabinets live in the living room!!!), but Kenny says I have done a pretty good job of keeping my cool.
After this remodel we are taking a break for a while from any home repairs. :)

A New Park

I haven't explored to much of our new city because we got here right at the beginning of the rainy season, but since the sun has come out we've gotten out a lot more. We discovered a new park that we LOVE! It's right on the water and they put a sandy spot for kids to dig.
There are a couple of boardwalks to walk on too. It's just beautiful.
We all love it!
So here are a few pics of our new favorite park.

A Trip to Oregon

At the end of April I took the kids down to Oregon for our niece, Nedra's, baptism.
Wyn and Myles liked seeing Neddie be baptized, but right after Wyn came up to me with a scared face and said, "I don't wanna get baptized. I just wanna watch Nedders do it." It was kinda loud so everyone heard it, but super cute!

While we were there I got to see one of my old young women. She just got home from her mission and is just such a great person! My sister Krystal and I were her leaders when she was 15 and now she's all grown up! It was so great to see her and be with my sister! :)

Wyn and cousin Lauren.
I adore Lauren.

She's just great!

And a random bath pic that was not in Oregon.
I only took this picture because they never take baths all together.
Pierce loved it and was splashing like crazy. Myles and Wyn were excited for him to get out. :)

Easter is always a fun time of year, but it is always special to explain to the kids that Easter is really about Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for all of us. We are so grateful for our Savior.
