"While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see."

There will be an opening reception this Friday, August 5th from 5-8 PM. My dad and brother have some wonderful new pieces and I am honored to show my work with theirs. The show will run for 3 weeks. The Ranch

A couple of weekends ago we took a short road trip and on our way we stopped by an old ranch house to see what there was to photograph. I was pleasantly surprised! I had a great time finding so many different textures and lighting situations. I have been focusing lately so much on the sculptures that it was fun to just go and find what I could find and see what was there. Here are a few of my favorites.

Sculptures

As I was taking some pictures of some new work for my Dad and brother, I found some older pieces that I had not photographed. In some more recent work that I have done I have enjoyed adding to each to piece with work done after the image was taken. Here are some images from my last photo shoot.

Shadows

During my last photo session with some sculptures I had fun with some more texture and shape when I caught a shadow from one of Josh's sculptures cast on a large piece of rusted steel. I am pretty excited about how they turned out! I was also really excited about some close ups I was able to  take of Dan and Josh's sculptures as well. Please click on the Sculpture Gallery and the Texture and Shape Gallery to see more.

More Sculptures

This weekend my dad and brother each had a new sculpture ready to photograph and of course I had fun creating my own take on their work. My dad's piece is for Art Around in the Corner in St. George showing from April 2011- April 2012.

Texture

During school I realized that one aspect of photography that I really enjoy is texture. I love to photograph texture and capture images that make you want to reach out and touch and feel the texture of the object in the image. I also enjoy pulling basic shapes out ordinary objects and bringing focus to the shape rather than the object as a whole. I have posted a few new images in a new gallery that focus on shape and texture. Here is one example.

Welcome!

I have started this blog to give myself some motivation to get back into photography. With life going on so quickly around me I sometimes forget how much I enjoy it! I still can't give photography my full attention right now, but hopefully I will let myself escape every once in a while into the exciting world of capturing "that perfect image"! Enjoy!
