Enchantment Of The Seas Cruise

A couple of days before sailing, our itinerary was reversed due to an electrical problem on the ship. They said we couldn't go fast enough to reach our ports in time so instead of:

Wednesday - Belize

Thursday - Cozumel

Friday - Key West

We Changed To

Tuesday - Key West

Wednesday - Cozumel

Thursday - Belize

So ok, no big deal. We did some shopping in Key West, on Tuesday, despite the rain. Then we find out ...................... SURPRISE! Since docking space in Cozumel & Belize is reserved well in advance, our last minute schedule change means we will have to be tendered in.

Ordinarily this would be ok, but from standing in line for tender tickets, being crammed into the line on the staircase, the trip to the dock, and jostling for a cab, it took two and a half hours just to reach the shopping district. Thanks to Don & Deb the wait was bearable. For those of you who do not know them, Don & Deb are our friends from church & their cabin was a couple of doors down from ours.

We managed to cram a lot of shopping into a few short hours and still had time for a nice lunch together at "Pancho's Back Yard". We allowed a lot of extra time getting back to the ship and returned exhausted with sore feet and a lot of gifts. The first seating in the main dining room was a little sparse due to the delays in getting back to the ship.

The "My Fair Lady Dining Room" was beautiful and the service was exceptional!

If you look closely at the staircase photo, you will have a difficult time trying to tell which one is Katie & which one is Eliza Doolittle!

We turned in a little early Wednesday night & decided to sleep in the next morning. Thursday we were scheduled to dock in Belize at 8am. We wanted to avoid the crowds and waiting for a tender so we didn't even leave our cabin until around 10am. On the way to breakfast we discovered two things: 1) we were supposed to have docked at 8am & we were running at high speed, & 2) there was no land in sight. We found out that we missed the announcement at 11:30 last night. Three hours (at high speed - I guess they fixed the engine problem) after leaving Cozumel, there was a medical emergency & we had to go back to Cozumel. That left us over 6 hours behind schedule & if we continued back to Belize we would have only had about 2 hours there (plus we had to be tendered ashore). The Captain decided to take us to Coco Cay in the Bahamas instead! We ran the rest of Wednesday night, all day Thursday & Thursday night at around 22.5 knots (our top speed is 22 knots). Coco Cay is Royal Caribbean's island it leases from the Bahamas. We arrived there around 10am.

Coco Cay is a beautiful place but there is very little to do if you cannot get wet (as in Katie's case). We tried the shopping in their "Straw Market" but everything was 3 times as much as it was in the real "Straw Market" in Nassau.

Our "Midnight Buffet" was beautiful. We took the pictures but passed on the food. It was getting late & at least 1/2 of the passengers were lined up like hungry vultures.

All in all, it was a great cruise. The ship was beautiful, the service was exceptional and the food (my favorite part) was beyond compare (they even had "Warm Chocolate Cake" one night). The Captain did the best he could in a tough situation. We enjoyed dinner each night with Don & Deb and they put up with me (even when I ate the escargot)
