Weekend Getaway

Jon and I were able to get away for the weekend.  We went to Newport Beach, California.  We hit the perfect weather.  It was beautiful, sunny, and 72 degrees. We walked around Balboa Island, drove down the coast, layed out at the beach for hours, saw Spiderman, went hot tubbing, and ate some yummy (and not so yummy food).

The third of July

We got yummy pizza at Barros with the Fishers and Smiths to start off the night.  And then we headed to the park to watch the fireworks.  The boys climbed trees, played football, and other games to pass the time while we were waiting for them to start.

We were able to see the Vallerys for a few minutes and we got to meet LeAnn's finance. And the Halseys showed up for the fireworks too.  What a great night with family and friends!

Roller Skating...not a Mumford talent

Our friends invited us to go rollerskating.  My boys thought it sounded fun...until they got their skates on.  They were so bad at first but they didn't give up! When they first started Caleb said "this is supposed to be fun?!" and "Instead of grounding us when we get in trouble you can just bring us here."

This is the technique they used for a lot of the time.

They were starting to get the hang of it by the end of the day.  They even said they wanted to come again.  So proud of them for not giving up!!!

Last Date night for a while

We decided we needed to fit in a date night before we all go on our summer vacations.  We decided to roll the dice and take a chance on a new restaurant....NOT a good idea.  My steak sandwich was tough, we had a waitress that couldn't remember anything, and had a dog walk in the door!  But the night is always fun with this group!

And the pie place afterwards was worth the trip to Black Canyon city!

California

We were able to get away for a long weekend to Cali.  We had such a great time!
We went to Six Flags Magic Mountain the first two days. There weren't many lines so they rode ride after ride.

The biggest mistake....Roaring Rapids. Jon and I got drenched!  We were ringing out our socks and our shorts were soaked all the way through.

We spent the day in Malibu at the beach. (Thanks Jeromy for the recommendation) We rented boogie boards.  My favorite part of the day was seeing lots of dolphins close to where we were.

True Happiness

I love those moments in life when you realize the things that are most important....the things that bring true happiness.  I experienced one of those moments recently.

Tyler has went on splits with the missionaries.  They were teaching a young man who was in Tyler's  history class. When it came time for Mic to be baptized he asked Tyler if he would be the one to do baptize him. What an honor!
Mic's family was very supportive of his decision. His grandparents are members of the church but his parents are not.  They have decided to take the discussions because of the example of Mic.
As I was watching Tyler baptize this young man I realized that what I want most for my children is for them to be truly happy.  Of course I want them to be successful in school, their career, in sports, etc. But ultimately the most important thing is that they have a testimony of their Savior, Jesus Christ.  That is where true happiness comes from.  And that is how we can be a forever family. I don't have much time before Tyler graduates and goes on a mission.  When I think of this I get a little sad.  I can't imagine him being gone for 2 years! But I can't imagine him doing anything better!

Soccer

The boys have never been on the same team so they were so excited that they could be on the same soccer team. They had a great coach and played with kids they knew. They ended the season with a goal each in the last game!
