September happenings (little late lol)

This month started out with my birthday…………..and my own present to myself, a cold!7ec3f82bc9203797713783cd766b5a39--emojis-emoji-pillows.jpg
I feel awful!

We went out to dinner for my birthday. We went to Texas Roadhouse. 2 of my kids rode with their Nana and Granddad met us there. So we had 3 cars. We made the 2 kids come home with us because they were starting to act up and Heather decided to go home with her dad. So Linda was alone in her car coming home and she got in an accident. She has to have surgery on her wrist but other than that she’s ok. As much as I hate that she got in an accident, I’m even more grateful that there was no one else in the car with her because who knew what could have happened.

(This was last month but oh well……)  We bought ourselves a membership to the Aquarium.  This will give us something to do when we are bored.

August Happenings

We celebrated Melody’s 3rd birthday! She got 2 cakes and was very excited! We got her some new bedding for her big girl bed and it’s one of her favorites, Peppa pig.

We went to Bear Lake as a Bowe/Woolfenden family Aug 18-22. It was so fun and we got to go up to Swan Valley, ID on Aug 21st to see the solar eclipse! We got 100% totality and it was SO AMAZING! This was the only picture I was able to get of the eclipse because my camera on my phone decided to die. Of course, it started working after the eclipse was mostly done.

Aidan started 1st grade at Sprucewood Elementary in Draper on Aug 23rd. He is so grown up and I know he’ll do great things in school just like last year!

Lucas started his last year of preschool on August 29th. He is going to a brand new open school. He gets to ride the bus again which he loves. His teacher called me yesterday  to tell me how good he is in school and how sweet he is.

July 16th had Lucas turning 4 years old! He is so excited to be 4! He also potty trained last month and it didn’t take as long as I dreaded.Image

July 29th, we moved living essentials to Josh’s parents house. We are going to be selling our house when we get it ready for the market. So we are still packing up stuff for storage in the house.

June Happenings/Kids Say The Darndest Things

Aidan finished his Kindergarten year! He said he’s excited for 1st grade next year! At his end of year Kindergarten testing, his teacher told me that he is 1 of only 2 students in his class that can still read and write all 80 Kindergarten sight words! He is such a smart little dude and we are very proud of him!

Lucas finished his first year of preschool and he has really enjoyed going. It has really helped him with his speech. There are still struggles, but he talks a lot more than he did at the beginning of preschool.

We went to a free day at the Gallivan Center on June 13th with Uncle Matt and Aunt Joy. There were bounce houses, little games to win little prizes, and a small animal petting zoo. It was a little rainy and cloudy so there weren’t a lot of people. So we thought it was a perfect day!

I found out that I’m going to be an aunt for the 6th time! Lucie is due with their second child in January of next year. (very early January, so it’s totally possible it could be born in December of this year if she goes early)

Lucas called to me from the top of the stairs on the 21st. He said, “Mommy, babies wear diapers and I’m not a baby anymore” with underwear in his hand. That took me by surprise!
So he wore underwear the rest of the night and so I’m potty training him finally! Hope it goes well. When Aidan was ready, it didn’t take long to get him trained so we are hoping it goes the same with Lucas.

May Happenings/Kids Say The Darndest Things

Josh and I took Aidan to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. on May 12th. We love taking Aidan to the movies! He does so well, unlike the other 2. Right now, they are hard to take to the theater.

My nephew, Alex, got to come home from the hospital. He is hooked up to oxygen, for how long they don’t know. But at least he’s home with his family!

I bought myself a Fitbit Flex. After having it for only a day, I do feel that I am more conscious of getting up every once in awhile to up my “steps” towards my goal. I’m starting out with the recommended 8,000 a day and see how that goes.

Aidan and I went on a Mother/Son date to see Pirates of the Caribbean 5! It was so fun and nice to do that with him.

Jon, Lucie, and Emily came to visit from Texas! It was great to get together with them!

I took Lucas and Melody to see Lightning McQueen on his road tour (a fun little tour before Cars 3 opens). Invited along Matt and Kyler. Heather also came. We spent 3 hours getting burnt by the sun in lines to get close to McQueen………...so not worth the wait with the whining I had from my kids when we left.

April Happenings/Kids Say The Darndest Thing

Josh turned 35! I love giving him crap for being older than me for a few months :)

My nephew, Aaron, got part of his tooth chipped off by his brother. His isn’t as noticeable as Lucas’ is, but they now match.

We went to the Gale Center in South Jordan to play with the Dickson’s during Spring Break. It’s a cute little museum with a play school, pioneer house, and grocery store. It’s also FREE which is great.

Josh and I went with his family to dinner and a Hale Theater play (To Kill A Mockingbird) on April 15th. Kind of as a delayed birthday outing, I told Josh.

My newest nephew, Alexander McKay Brewerton was born on April 17th. He stopped breathing for 4 minutes and was resuscitated. He is currently in Primary Children’s Hospital. They haven't yet found a reason why he can't breathe well without oxygen.

Aidan lost his first tooth on April 24th! He didn't think to tell me when it happened and guess what? He actually LOST it! We couldn't find it anywhere! I told him that the tooth fairy can only give money if she gets a tooth in exchange. He didn't seem too bummed by that, but it sure made me sad🙁.  (we had him write to the tooth fairy and he still got some money, just not as much as if he had the tooth)

March Happenings/Kids Say The Darndest Things

Our washer broke in the middle of a cycle. We bought a new one at Lowe’s. They are great because (of course for an extra fee, but……) they took our old one away when they delivered the new one.

We traded in our Durango (which we have had for about 3 years) for a Honda Odyssey van.  So we are officially a Honda family since we also have the Civic.

I tried ClickList at Smith’s for the first time because Aidan was sick and we needed groceries. Pretty cool. If you don’t know what it is, you can order your stuff online and then go pick it up at the store and they will load it in your vehicle!

I volunteered for the first time in Aidan’s Kindergarten class on March 8th. My neighbor Stephanie and I are going to swap babysitting once a week (one day for each of us) for the other to go volunteer. Man, I didn’t think being there for only an hour would go so fast!

I have to admit, I have been obsessed with April the giraffe and waiting for her to give birth! As of April 1st, she still hasn’t had it! I’ve been checking in every once in awhile for about a month.

The 2 littlest kids got sick for a few days and on one of those days, this happened when Melody dropped her cup on Lucas:

February Happenings /Kids Say the Darndest Things

FIlling out a paper for Aidan’s new school (Riverside Elem) and one thing was - What is your child’s greatest weakness?- and Aidan said “I can’t do the laundry”

Dropped Aidan off for his first day of all day Kindergarten in his new school on Groundhog Day (which he thought was pretty cool)

Melody to the garbage truck “Bye red, see you soon!”

Boys! *shaking my head * Lucas came up to me with his hands folded together and says, “what's inside?”.  I said I didn't know. He opens it up and there is a booger inside. So I tell him to get a tissue and he wouldn't. Josh got a tissue and took the booger away and Lucas cried.

Aidan woke up for his first Monday at Riverside and said, “I don’t like the idea of 2:20 on a Monday.” Lol, that’s how long he goes to school for.

We got to attend RootsTech on a Saturday for family day. We got to watch Elder and Sister Nelson talk and they were great! We got a picture on a green screen and we decided to have Australia behind us! :) It was fun! Melody and Lucas got a balloon on a stick. At home, they stuck the stick in their pants with the balloon facing out. Silly kids!

Melody was still sleeping one morning when I went to get them up. She was talking in her sleep (I have never heard her do it ever) and was saying “Lucas turn, Lucas turn. Mine, mine, mines turn. (then shouting) Aidan’s turn!”

January happenings and Kids Say The Darndest Things

Aidan "What does your face look like?"
Me (pointing at my face) "Like this."
Me "What does your face look like?"
Aidan (pointing at his face) "Like this."

Aidan "I better clean up the living room so Daddy doesn't fall on the toys"

Melody and Lucas one day wore their swimsuits. I'm all for wanting summer to come back!

Lucas wore a Band-Aid on his head for a non-existent injury for almost 2 weeks! (that sucker was strong) When it finally came off, he said "Nana, Band-Aid off" with a frowny face.

Aidan drew on the toilet seat with permanent marker! I told him “You are lucky hairspray takes care of permanent marker!” When Josh looked at him with an angry face, Aidan tried to justify it with, “but I was doing math”

Aidan said, “If you only eat garlic, you will poop on the floor.”

We bought Josh a “new” used car to be a commuter to and from work. It’s a 2003 Honda Civic. It rides so awesome! We said goodbye to the Chevy Cobalt I bought back in 2007.

We had the heating element go out in our dryer and Josh bought a part and fixed it himself!
