Halloween

Last Halloween Lexie was only a month old so I didn't get too excited about this holiday, but now that she's a little bit older it is so much more fun to do things with her. (Still too young to appreciate trick or treating.... but that is good on my part for the sake of being healthy!) I am a big procrastinator and didn't want to spend hours making a costume for her so the week of our ward halloween party I checked out the Halloween costume stores and found THE cutest garden gnome costume and was set on her being that... except for it was $25 and I couldn't justify buying it. Well it all worked out in the end because the mom that I nanny for had the EXACT garden gnome costume and let me borrow it! It was so dang cute. She also let me borrow her princess Leia costume that was SO funny but she wasn't digging the wig... It's tradition to go over to my moms and have pizza with all the cousins and then we all go trick or treating together. We let Lexie go down one street of houses but after that she was more interested in watching all the kids and just walking around then going and knocking on doors.

Of course I had to have a Halloween party with my preschool classes and it was so fun to see them all dressed up. I dressed up as a bunny rabbit (super last minute...) and we played fun games and had too many treats.

Birthday Celebrations

On the day of her birthday Jake had to work and I had a full day of teaching preschool and piano lessons, so we kept it pretty low key (and it's not like she really knew what was going on anyway!). After preschool we met up with my friend Kylee and Haley and their two little boys at the mall to have Chik-Fil-A and to play! After I got done teaching piano we went and picked up Jake and we all headed out to dinner. I feel like it was a big reason to celebrate for surviving our first year as being parents! We came home and let Lexie open up a couple of small gifts (baby doll, and a little caterpillar xylephone thing)  and then she was off to bed and no longer our little baby!

I waited to have a birthday party because Jake's parents and younger brother were coming into town a couple weeks after her birthday so we wanted them to be there for her celebration! We just kept it simple and invited all my family and Jake's family and friends to the park to have some good food and fun! Lexie LOVES the park because she can walk wherever she wants and that is her favorite thing to do. After dinner and some playing at the park it was time for the pinata! All the kids got a turn to swing and they loved collecting the candy and prizes. We had cupcakes for dessert and sang to our little princess and it was such a fun day. Thanks to our families for the gifts and all the help!

One Year Pictures

Guess who turned ONE?? I still can't believe it... it has been the most life changing year that I have ever had and I wouldn't trade any of it. Sometimes I catch me and Jake with the TV off, sitting around,  just watching her... and I can't help but laugh because she is literally our form of entertainment! It's amazing how much she has learned and all the new things she does every single day. Some fun facts about Lexie:

Sleeps through the night (Took about a year of hard work for this one!)
No longer breast feeding
LOVES bath time.. I say "wanna take a bath?" and she walks straight to the bathroom
Obsessed with apple juice
Says baby, cheese, mama, dada, hi, 'what's that', and a whole lot of baby talk
Takes 2 naps
I have little tables and chairs set up for my preschool and literally ALL DAY she sits down, then gets up, then sits down, etc. She also loves tipping them all over.
Loves going to get the mail and walking outside in general
Without fail the first thing she says when she wakes up in the morning is 'dada'.... I dont mind.... for right now

She is our little free spirit and we absolutely love her! I had some pictures taken of her a couple days before her birthday because I want to always remember her personality and what she looked like at this age.

Twenty Three

I turned the big 23 this year! I am still teaching preschool so the morning started off pretty normal, and my cute little nephew who is in my class brought me some beautiful flowers and some candy. After Lexie woke up from her nap I met my sisters for lunch. Then I took Lexie with me to do a little shopping and I found the cutest rug for my entry way that I have been needing! After I was done teaching piano lessons Jake, me and Lexie all went out to dinner to Joe's farm grill. (YUM). We dropped Lexie off at my mom's house then me and Jake went to Dave and Busters  (Kind of like a Peter Piper Pizza for older people) to play all the arcade games. Jake of course spoiled me with some new workout clothes and new Nike's that I have been needing. Such a fun day and I definitely felt the love from everyone!

Couldn't go shopping for myself and not share the love! She held the ball like this all the way home

New workout outfit from Jake (Okay maybe I exchanged everything that he bought to get different stuff... it's the thought that counts!)

With my birthday money I bought a bike trailer! I have been wanting one so bad for Lexie and now that the weather is cooling down we will definitely be using this a lot!
