I have no interest in joining DW. I just don't see the icon thing really happening there. The icon community is already very very small as it is, so unless literally every active maker moves there, an attempt to move over there will only split us into two tiny sections, which doesn't make sense to me. Obviously it's everyone's choice ot leave or stay but yeah, if the iconing community on LJ is a sinking ship then I'm going down with it.I've already been kinda on-off and had mini breaks and considered longer breaks for a long time so idk, maybe it's time for me to stop iconing anyway. buuut we'll see how this goes.

HOWEVER

there's this other comm: iconfessing

it has a bit similar idea but way cooler, it's more like (or exactly like?) iconsecrets was. you send secrets, they get posted, you discuss secrets (anon or not). But no personal attacks against individual makers are allowed so I think I can hang out there and not run into secrets about how me & my icons suck, so that's nice :>
seriously I love the idea of that comm, I always loved iconsecrets even though back then I was too shy to talk a lot there.

Is it weird that I'm kinda happy whenever my NOTPs become fully canon, as in, their UST phase is over and the boring relationship stuff starts? I sort of see that as the end of the ship, because the ust/crush/pining phase is so much more shippy and romantic in my eyes, so since I tend to view my NOTPs as inevitable... the sooner they get there, the better. CaptainSwan has been so much more tolerable/more easily ignorable since they became a thing for real. And I hope the same will happen to OutlawQueen :p

also, I seem to have spent the last few days programming a thingy that extracts palettes from two icons and then makes a random combination of those palettes. I hope this will give me new coloring ideas. examples:

Is this maybe the most useless program you've seen? Do I need a hobby?? I just couldn't get this idea out of my head, so I now this program exists and I have no idea what to do with it, lol.

I'm so excited and hope a decent amount of people will join! I'm even thinking of possibly making two claims, but I'll save the decision making for the first discussion post! :)

The actual iconing will start 10.8. when the first inspiration post goes up, but there'll be a discussion post tomorrow where people can discuss what to claim, possibly form teams for a shared rewatch, express any thoughts about the comm, or to just discuss anything and everything. See you there hopefully? :D The comm is open for everyone so join if you like the idea!

I know I've again missed a lot of the things happening on my flist, and also have a ton of comments to reply to, I've just been really busy for the past few days with everything involving setting up and planning this comm (and also watching Lost but that's totally a valid thing to do after all that work right?).

So, now that I've gotten all the fandom stuff out of my system, it's time for icon plans! I posted some very generic initial ideas for a rewatch-based, episode-centric icon challenge comm in this entry; now it's time to go to the details with the planning, and any input is again very much valued cause I don't want to screw a good idea up by executing it all wrong.

I've missed participating in t_r! My personal mission this time around: make a non-fugly set to break my turbo_rumble curse. I mean, both times I've particiated in the past, my sets have been even worse than my average icons of the time. Sooo, hopefully third time's the charm? :D We'll see.

I do know that this is the best place to seek icon-specific concrit, which I haven't gotten (or asked for) in ages, so this should be interesting and helpful. I think (hope) I've grown enough confidence in my work to accept it even if all my icons do horribly in the challenges :D The thing I'm mostly nervous about now is giving concrity votes myself, because the more I develop my own questionable icon skills, the less critical of everyone else I seem to become, idk why, it it seems counter-intuitive. I just feel more and more awkward trying to tell anyone that there's something wrong with their work, cause I don't really think I'm in a position to tell anyone that unless my own stuff is perfect, which it isn't. But then again challenges like this wouldn't be half as beneficial if there were only positive votes, sooo I'll try to do my part as well as I can!

Trust it on me to turn even a freaking pimp post rambly, haha! If you're wondering what happened to me and my icon challenge ideas, the short answer is 'exam week + yet another character crush' and the long answer is long and boring so I'll spare you all and just jump right to the icon challenge plans as soon as I've developed the ideas a bit further. ...I can ask for your help. I have a billion ideas buzzing around in my head. The problem is I'm not sure which one to pick for further development. Sooo, help me out?

Problem specifications: I want to have some sort of challenge where I can icon Farscape episodes (one ep/week, not more than a few icons per episode). Something interactive where I could discuss the episodes with others would be a big plus.

Background: We have finally reached the end of the weekly club_farscape rewatches, and as far as I understand the plan is to start again from the beginning on Sunday. However, I've seen the episodes a gazillion times already so I'm not sure there's any point in watching them yet again, unless this time I have an icon challenge to go with it - the best kind of motivation. Soooo I'll need to come up with an idea asap.

So, obviously I still have a LOT to decide, and there's room for modifications in each of these so if one of these only half works for you, I'm really open to concrit. Also, I know some of these are explained in a horribly confusing and rambly way so if you didn't get what I meant with some of the options, please ask, I'd be happy to clarify!

And just to clarify - no matter which option I pick, any possible comm would be free for all (=not an elite comm), and if I pick one of the Farscape options, participating would not require coming to the club_farscape chats.

It would be awesome if you could fill the poll if any of these interest you at all! Please only fill this if you read the descriptions above cause the short descriptions in the poll don't really give a good idea of the solution.




I'll of course still do other challenges as well and pick other fandoms for those, so please don't comment with 'pick Supernatural for this instead'! Yes I know you want me to icon it but as stated above, I have a good reason for wanting to pick Farscape for this project, to go with the shared rewatch :)

I'd like to know if anyone on my flist (or not, but happens to find this post anyway) would like a DW battle? I haven't had a battle in a while so I thought this would be fun.

This week is busy for me (making my character20n20 icons and possibly a the7days entry?) but after that I'd be ready for some battle fun, so as the organizing probably takes some time too I thought I'd ask around a bit already. Just let me know if and when you'd like to do it and if you have preferences about the amount of caps/themes etc. If all the participants are at theiconquest, we could make it an IQ battle too. Idk if anyone is interested but I hope so cause my love for DW just doesn't seem to die even now that I've caught up with the airings :)
