Final Artist Statement

Digital photo class with ms cook became very amusing and interesting. It’s a class where everyone should get a taste of. We’ve done so many projects throughout the year that were interesting and that I never would have thought I could do. Although I struggled with some of these projects, I do believe I did my best. My favorite project we did was the quilt squares, because I had to think about my self (how I feel from the inside and out). Also I had to find out what people think about me and how I see myself in a few more years. Creativity was the number one priority when it came to the quilt squares. I put my best and deepest fears into these posts where I used symbols to express my self.
In the future I could improve on taking better pictures since the ones I took before wouldn’t turn out as high-quality. It was tough finding the right lighting for a picture and getting the right poses for the emphasis. Learning about iso, shutter speed and flash made it easier for me to take pictures. I hope to improve on taking photography; I see myself being a photographer in the future.
Since I attended this class I became more attached to art and the art that’s around me. In my opinion I believe that art surrounds everybody in their own way. Clothing, shoes, Architecture, nature and even human qualities are all made up of some type of art. I look forward to taking this class again next year

Flash

Flash is also vidal when it comes to taking decent pictures. It helps taking pictures at night when their is no light present. Not only is flashed used at night but it is also used during day time. When outside, the sun can create many shadows, flash helps taking those shadows away. It gives the picture a clear view.

Metering

A light meater is another way to bring the light into the picture and create better picture without flash. This may come in handy when taking a picture at night lights. For example if you want to take a decent picture of a city with nice lights light metering helps keep all natural colors in place. If flash is used, it could take away the nice lights that create the picture.

Surrealism

Surrealism was one of the best projects we had to do during this photo class due to the creativity and effort we had to put ito this project. The hardest part about this was thinking how to put things together so the things that were surreal had to make sense. Also the part that i had fun doing was the basketball and making myself flying out of earth and dunking a basketball into space. I also like being creative and creating things that dont make sense. Making the project out of the things we dreamed made it more interseting in creating a vivid picture. I would love to do something like this again in my spare time because it gives you another way to look at art from your own perspective.

Surreal Tutorials

The Surrealism art is a a dream like work of art that is imaginary. For the Desert background; in order to make things more vivid, i had to have a sky that blended in. I also had put a shodow on the lamp because without it would look like i just stook a pole in the middle of the picture. We streched the land out so it could seem like it goes on further. By doing these tutorials it will help us constribute our art and help us get further.

Personal Quilt

Before starting this sigificant project, some of my thoughts came from my past(where i was born and who were my friends). Most of them came from how i fell about myself and where i see myself doing later in the future. Although my inside quilt was my favortie, my future quilt was one that i struggled with. The future on was so simple due to the fact that I didn't know how my future was going to be like. My inside quilt was my favorite because I put alot of time and effort, and it is exacly 100% me. It has a basketball and a court next to me because I love to play it. Also the background is dark and cloudy because of my darkest secrets. I really enjoyed doing this project everday waking up coming to school I would always look forward in doing my quilts.

Artist Statement

During this time of the course, I feel comfortable about my portfolio and how it is set up in general. In my portfolio you may find pictures that I’ve been working on for the past semester with Ms. Cook. This class is extravagant but however it takes plenty of commitment and work.

I thought I was successful with taking pictures and having fun with Photoshop, and adding more thought to the picture. The one obsession I had trouble with was the magic wand. I couldn’t necessarily get the pictures to change with out magic wand. In the future I wish to get more help from the instructor so I won’t have trouble next semester.

I am pleased I chose this class as an elective because my experience was extreme! Now when ever I need pictures for my MySpace, I could just come to this class and make one that will grab people’s attention.

I chose this tupac lyrics because tupac has the most touching words that connect to me. Tupac is one of the greatest rappers who ever lived and his legacy still lives on.

Social Issue "endless Power"

As you could see in the photograph their are a pair of hands with a simple black background. The simple black background helps the hands stand out and make people reflect on their point of view. These glowing figured hands is the only way that we could do things with, without hands we wouldn't be able to accomplish many thing as with them.

This emphasis in this picture is more than just hands. Hands are not just used to grab things or even move objects around; however they are used to guide and help the ones in need. Even without feet a pair of hands can give someone the "Power" they deserve. This is why to me a pair of hands have more than just fingers they have Endless Power.

Alien

Vampire

My favorite photo was the Vampire because i made myself look dissimilar than what i am now. The Part that i had touble on was doing the blood. The blood had to be well done and we had to make it reflect on out skin. The tool that i had fun with was the liquify the teeth.

The alien picture was superior, and due to photoshop it made me seem very vivid.

Photographic Effects

My favorite trick was the fact that you could clear up the skin and whiten the teeth of a persons face. Out of all the tricks and tool the one that i would like to explore more is the mask adjustments because i didn't get it that well. One trick that i found out by myself is when you put the picture black and white, and you use the eraser to erase the black and white to color.

Compositional Trick 8

Fill in flash is when you put the flash on the person so you could see their face better outside.

Lighting is when the light hits the person in a drastic way that catches attention to the viewer.

Compositional Trick 6

Framing is somewhat crutial when taking pictures because it allows you to see the emphasis better. When you have a frame around the picture, people will know what your really taking.

Compositional # 5 Extreme angels

An extreme angle is when you get down like if its an ant or something small is looking up.

The other extreme angle is when you are looking from above like if its a bird looking down.

Compositional Trick # 4 Simplicity

Simpicity is a basic picture that has a simple background with a simple emphasis.
These types of picture are more focused towards the emphasis.

macro

"Macro"
Macro is when you get very colse to the picture and the rest of the background is blured. Most people agree that macro is a good way to take pictures because, you get to see what most people walk by everyday.

Compositional Trick Leading Lines

" Leading Lines"

Leading Lines gives the emphasis more perspective to the picture as well. Also Leading Lines captures the emphasis and leaves the rest of the background out of the picture.

compositional Trick Rule of thirds

In General The Rule of Thirds is having you emphasis not in the middle ,but on each corners of the picture. This gives the picture more background than usual and gives the emphasis of the picture more meaning.
