Personality:
In any classic girl trio, there tend to be three types. There must be the strong, the beautiful and the intelligent. Magic Knight Rayearth is no exception. Hikaru, the main character is brave, Umi is beautiful, and Fuu Hououji is unquestionably the brains of the operation.
You see, Fuu is a genius. Attending a school for the gifted, Fuu still does well in all her classes and absolutely loves to read. In fact, Fuu has quite a few geeky tendencies--a love of computer programming and video games, concern over her homework while trapped in a “video game world”, and a hobby of reading books. Outside of just scholarly pursuits, she does seem to be fairly well rounded. She's a member of the archery team, and is fairly good with both bow and arrow, as well as a sword. She's been show in extra art and omake to be good at other sports as well, music and art, and even cooking. Fuu is the kind of person who excels at everything she really tries for.
Fuu has had all the opportunities a life has to offer--a high class, wealthy family that cares about her, and several talents--but unlike the stereotypical "rich bitch" such well off characters fall into, Fuu takes her status with grace. In fact, everything she does is done with an air of grace. She uses honorifics with everyone, calling monsters Monster-san, and enemies by -san as well (even by the end of the second manga, Ferio is the only one she calls without an honorific), only to be respectful and polite--and the politeness extends to every action in her life. She feels that everyone deserves to be respected and treated well. Fuu Hououji is the kind of person who enjoys the happiness of others. Her introduction to the series is a clear example of this: on her own field trip to Tokyo Tower, Fuu watches Hikaru enjoy a pair of binoculars. When the time runs out and Hikaru is looking for change, Fuu simply gives it to her, expecting nothing in return, just saying that she enjoys watching her have fun.
Fuu's goodness is such a defining personality trait that her magic is based mostly in protection and healing as opposed to Hikaru and Umi's attack based magics. In Cefiro, everything is decided by heart and will, and it's only when you truly believe that you have any power. Fuu's first spell learned is simply one to heal her friend--she wants nothing more than to keep her friends safe, and the theme continues, learning spells for protection, and one to immobilize when her friends are in danger. Throughout the course of the manga, Fuu shows a great deal of compassion and mercy, choosing to give others a chance to change their course of action, even when only moments before they had tried to kill her. It is stated by Master Mage Clef that her compassion is her strength, and this never changes.
But you cannot mistake that for stupidity. Fuu is not one to be trifled with. She can be harsh, clever or tricky at any time. She would protect her friends with her life, and will fight to the death over them, as she did threaten Caldina with death if she didn't back down. Ferio has blatantly called her clever more than once when she tricked him into becoming their body guard in order to for him to find the exit of the forest. While she is certainly trusting, she is very aware that others could plot against her, as she pointed out that, though Ferio was kind to them, he could be working for Zagato.
Fuu is determined and protective. She is willing to sacrifice her own safety for her friends, but still cherishes her own self. She says in the manga that she has no other way to honor the people who have raised and cared for her but to keep herself safe and healthy. She fights to keep herself in one piece for those who love her, and those she loves. But she also fights to keep her friends safe, even at the cost of her own life. She puts her whole heart into everything she does--which makes her a wonderful magic knight, considering that everything from her armor to her weapons to her ability to pilot the Mashin itself relies on the strength of her heart. It is her realization that she would die for her friends rather than harm them--and the realization of how strong that desire really is--that gives Fuu the ability to break out of an illusion that Umi and Hikaru couldn't fight. She is very honorable, to the point where she will not ask for help if she feels that it is asking too much of someone, and will not take more if she has only asked for so much.
When things calm down, though, Fuu can be Captain Obvious, which is a particularly annoying trait of hers. She does find it necessary to tell you, for example, that you are under water. She's got a very dippy attitude and comes off as somewhat shy when it comes to personal matters. She's easy to make blush and stammers when flirted with and complimented, though she’s ready and willing to compliment others and put information about herself out there. Fuu is the first of the magic knights to offer an introduction, despite the situation, and this is used repeatedly in the manga.
Her almost carefree, sweet attitude is greatly lost after Fuu has experienced taking someone else's life. She is certainly still kind, but between the first and second manga, Fuu's smiles are visibly sadder, she cries more, and she drops weight. She's lost her love of video games, since she can no longer see the villain as truly bad, and grows quiet around her family, worrying her sister a great deal.
Fuu is the kind of person who thrives off having people around her, and being alone can take a heavy toll. On that same note, Fuu is the kind of person who will never let anyone else see her tears. Hikaru makes a statement to Lantis “They tried to cheer me up, but I know they cried when they were alone.” Ferio, so far as the series states, is the only exception to the “ cry when they’re alone” rule. Fuu desires to keep herself and her heart strong, so that others can rely on her, and sometimes forgets that she needs someone to rely on, too. Her sister, Kuu, makes it very apparent that this is an issue when she tells Fuu that she knows something very serious is wrong, but things aren’t as hard when there’s someone to talk to. Fuu works so hard to make sure everyone else around her is all right, that it’s very obvious she forgets herself at times.
Game Specific:
Arcana: The Star
Justification:
I spent a lot of time deciding on this one--superficially, I think Priestess is what most people would go for. Fuu represents intelligence in the series, being the "smart one" of the group. She's quiet and feminine, and believes in doing what's right. But Fuu matches little to no "reversed" qualities. She's not rash, she's not ignorant and she is anything but selfish.
So that got scrapped fairly quickly. However, upon looking further, I found the Star fits Fuu beautifully. Fuu is always portrayed as calm and hopeful, always optimistic, even if it's for the sake of others, always having her head on straight. Her entire point in Rayearth is to be the healer. In a world that's based on will, most of her spells are to heal and protect others. Fuu has little expectations when it comes to her friends--she approaches her relationships with an unconditional, unknowing care. It doesn't matter what or who they are. In the end, they are dear to her. She tells Caldina that she knows almost nothing about her friends, but is still willing to die for them. When she finds Ferio lied to her about who he was it barely registers--only enough for her to feel guilt at having killed his sister. Fuu's willpower derives from strong belief and confidence in herself and her friends, fully and completely believing that her heart will guide her.
At the same time, she fits the reverse well. When Fuu is confident in herself she is downright confident, but at her lowest of lows, Fuu relies on Umi and Hikaru to make sure she is doing what's right. Her relationship with Ferio showcases this side of her very well--she's unsure of herself around him, not sure if she is completely in the right in what she's done. Fuu is only ever really sure of herself in a situation where others are involved--her worth derives from the others who have aided her this far. She can also be painfully stubborn, though it's probably better worded as determination, unyielding in her belief in others and her desire to be polite to everyone. Obstacles in the way of happiness is probably the easiest to point out for her: Fuu's happiness, again, resides with those around her. After doing the unthinkable, taking another's life, her happiness is completely gone, and only able to be regained after righting her mistakes.
Even within the Fool's Journey, the Star suits her--hope, faith and regeneration after trials. This is what Fuu has achieved within her own canon, what she has strived for, what she believes in.
The star isn't a perfect fit, but it's a good one. Healing and hoping are what define her within the series.

First Person Sample:
I suppose before I go on, it would be wise to at least offer an introduction of myself, wouldn't it? After all, one would think it would be best to get to know the people that will be surrounding you for as long as you might stay here. [The blonde is beaming. She rarely isn't, but the smile that is on her face is wide and kind, and very unassuming. Not entirely real, but certainly kind.]
My name is Fuu Hououji. I'm fifteen years old, a Sagittarius, with a blood type of A. I'm not entirely sure how injuries work here, but if I am ever in need of a blood transfusion, and unable to communicate this properly, it would be imperative that someone knew. I normally reside in Tokyo, Japan, though I suppose that has changed, now.
I'm not entirely sure what to make of all this; however, I will do my best to do whatever is required of me.
[Fuu pauses to think. What else could she introduce about herself? That she'd been in battle before, that she was versed in traveling between worlds? No, that would remain unsaid, at least for a little while.
Here, she would start from square one.]
I appreciate the warm welcome to the city, and I'm sure it will be a pleasure to meet all of you. I know I'm new, but if there is any way I could help in this situation, please do not be afraid to ask.
Third Person Sample:
At least, she thinks, there is school. A silly thing to be grateful about, and one most students would groan about, but it's a relief to her nonetheless. School was a familiarity, something Fuu understood. Without Hikaru and Umi, it was something that Fuu needed. For the first time in her life, she was in a situation where she was completely alone. There was no one here who knew her Tokyo, no one here who knew Cefiro, no on here who could offer a sense of understanding about her world. Friends from other worlds remained wonderful, but still, the sense of familiarity was something she sorely missed.
Still, at the same time, she really wondered if she should focus on a single thing--fighting monsters greatly cut into her study time, and study time greatly cut into fighting monsters. In battles before, Fuu had one thing and one thing alone on her mind--surviving. The next battle, how she would handle this one, what she was doing, leading back to simple survival. It was a far different situation, but fighting, in the end, was fighting. Even for one as studious as she was, Fuu had to admit that there was something much easier about fighting without worrying about whether or not you were prepared for a test in the morning.
Focusing on such things, though, would get her nowhere. Regardless of what would be easier, Fuu had to focus on what was. She was strong, she was talented and she was experienced. She had to keep on top of her studies, anyway. High school would be beginning for her soon, in her own world. If she could handle fighting monsters and studying, high school would be simple. She'd just have to get ahead of the game here.

Name: Robin the Frog
Series: The Muppets franchise
Timeline: Post role in "A Christmas Carol"
Canon Resource Links: The Muppets Wiki is a time sink.
Personality: Robin the Frog is quite the tiny character. Young and small, he is easily overlooked by the cast of the Muppets. He is not as wacky or outgoing as the rest of the cast, and this leads to a few confidence issues. Earlier on in the seasons of the Muppet Show, Robin deals with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy, claiming “no one notices a six ounce frog…” And, indeed, many times, he’s just spoken over. In the episode I’m referencing, Kermit continually fails to hear him over larger, louder, brighter Muppets—despite the fact that this is his nephew. He doesn’t quite have the confidence to speak up as much as he should. As time progresses, Robin’s self confidence starts to soar, though his role in the show is never much amplified and he never becomes much louder or wackier. Instead, Robin remains one of the most down-to-earth Muppets, without the cynicism of many of the others, such as Sam the Eagle. It's easy to see that he looks up to Kermit and sees him as a role model, when one realizes his personality grows to be much like his Uncle's.
Perhaps because of his size and shyness, Robin is quite respectful and easily the most mature Muppet in the show. When he’s caught in the whirlwind of chaos, he’s a voice of reason. He’s courageous and strong of heart and noble, and will go out of his way to make someone else feel better about himself. Robin is one who remembers his lessons--it's Robin who incites the song "If Just One Person" during the Jim Henson memorial--the song that was once sung to make him realize that he wasn't as pointless as he thought (See both versions here.Jiiiiiim... ;A;). While not gullible, he’s very trusting, and this usually plays out well for him. He is a great believer in believing in others, since it took someone believing in him to make him realize that he made a difference.
Despite his maturity and kindness, Robin is still very much a child, prone to imagination decisions that may perhaps be considered too simplistic. He is stubborn on certain ideas, very much like any child and insists on the fact that he is indeed mature, and not as childish as he might seem. He doesn't like being placed with childish roles all throughout the show. He is very innocent, and spends time with people others might find annoying or frightening—like Fozzie and Sweetums (though the latter might be from the fact that Sweetums costarred in Robin’s debut film The Frog Prince). He also has possibly the best group of caretakers ever: A frog, a pig, a bear, a dog, a whatever, and a whole bunch of monsters. Being in such an environment, with so many people who are so different makes him far more accepting than the average little green frog.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Robin, like any Muppet is fairly straightforward in both of these categories. While he's kind, trusting, considerate and most certainly endearingly adorable, he's also prone to acts of immaturity and stubbornness while trying to hard to be mature. This also encompasses accidental rudeness. While he's confident, down to earth and rational, he's also very shy and quiet, and of course, easily overlooked.
Being a Muppet, Robin has an exceptional talent for making people feel good, and keeping people together. Also being a Muppet, Robin has to be completely and totally silly. Also, he's normally a frog (and a puppet), so that might be difficult for a while.

And there's this little... thing following me around. It's called a Wooper and it's really neat! And there's apparently a whole bunch of monsters like him... I'm not so sure about catching and keeping monsters, though... What do you guys think?

… Guys…?
Third Person Sample: He kicked off his shoes--he was wearing shoes, it was so strange--before he sat down on the beach near the edge of New Bark Town. Setting his feet in the water, he looked out across it. This was a strange dream, probably the strangest he'd ever had if it was a dream at all. In dreams you could do all sorts of fantastic things, so the idea couldn't be discarded immediately.
He heard the shuffle of they blue monster he'd woken with at his side. It was called a Wooper, wasn't it? It wasn't like any monster Robin had seen before. To start with, it wasn't fuzzy, nor was it made of felt. It couldn't speak much, either, but there were some monsters that just couldn't. It didn't bother him much. He reached up, hesitantly, to pet it.
"Do you like it here, Gwain?" He spoke, knowing he wouldn't understand a thing the little blue monster says. "Do you think I can do it without everybody else?"
The Pokemon blinks up at him, not quite sure what he's asking.
"I guess it's a silly question to ask. I have to do it without everybody else, right?" Robin squares his shoulders--he's small, but not very small, not anymore. "I mean, the gang would tell me jut to keep going. They'd tell me not to give up. I bet Uncle Kermit... I bet he'd say it's time for my adventure, right? And I bet Gonzo--he'd think this place is amazing. I mean, nothing makes sense, really."
He swishes his feet around in the water. He can't really say he's worried about being so small. He's taller than Kermit, at this point. Or that he'd be alone, because he certainly isn't, even if he doesn't completely understand his partner.
He shakes his head, deciding he's spent too much time thinking about things, and fumbles with his bigger, stronger fingers to put his shoes back on. "You know, I never heard of a frog turning into a person before..." He gives a smile to the Pokemon who he's sure doesn't understand him, anyway. "Maybe I can get a kiss from a princess and be me again.
"But this isn't so bad for now."

CHARACTER
[series] Persona 4
[full name] Chie Satonaka
[age] 17
[gender] female
[canon point] Post True End ; Social Link 8
[reference] Tada!
[personality]
Chie Satonaka is one of the first people introduced in Persona 4, and one of the first few people Souji (/Yu/Jeffjeff/Main Character, referred to as Souji Seta or Souji from here on out) meets in Inaba. Accordingly, Chie has a very big personality. No, really, it hogs up rooms. She's easily excitable, quick tempered and dangerously curious. She's the kind of person whose personality (or probably better stated, ego) is so large that it tends to get in the way of others' and she is not afraid of asserting herself. She has boundless energy that she puts into everything she does--searching for a murder suspect, fighting, friendships, rivalries, dares, everything. This has a problem of exasperating other characters, most especially Yosuke. We’ll come back to him later. Several times.
Along with that bundle of energy, Chie is normally very open and friendly and very upbeat. She's welcoming to anyone in just about everything. When she and the beginnings of the Investigation Team were going to meet up for an afternoon at Junes, she had absolutely no qualms inviting Souji's younger cousin to come hang out with them, whereas most teens would cringe at the idea of hanging out with an eight-year-old. She was quick to befriend Souji, asking if he could sit next to her, and walking with him after school. Chie likes to tease people and annoy them in jest (though this can teeter on bullying), but she overreacts to the slightest insult. Thankfully for offenders (read: Yosuke), Chie's easily bought off with her favorite food--steak. She is very protective of her friends, especially Yukiko, who tends to be absolutely clueless about... well, everything. She's the first person to step up when she sees something she thinks is wrong being done, and she's not afraid of people bigger than her. Chie likes to see herself as a defender of justice, probably because she has a huge love of kung-fu flicks and aspires to be like the heroes from them. This sense of justice and right helps Chie make the decision at the end of the game to pursue a career in law enforcement.
However, despite good intentions and high spirits, her attitude and temperament can get her into a lot of trouble. She opens her mouth when she shouldn't, and she holds ridiculous grudges, reacting disproportionately to silly things. It’s shown that a lot of her negative emotions--disappointment, fear and sadness--channel straight into anger, and her first reaction seems to be to flare up. For Chie, it sometimes seems that the best defense is a good offense. Her protectiveness of the people she cares about can make her careless, as well, causing her to do things like run into the TV world defenseless to save Yukiko. Chie wants to do what's right, but has a problem with disregarding her health and this very important thing called rationality, ignoring both of these when she catches someone being bullied. While her rashness and her quick temper are okay with friends, and beating up people like Yosuke and Kanji is met with harmless, silly retaliation, in the rest of the world this would be a definite problem.
As Chie's shadow proved, she's not the cleanest person when it comes to negative emotions. Chie has a lot of issues with not being a "proper" girl, not having the feminine charm or temperament of Yukiko, and she harbored a lot of jealousy over that for a long time. It turns out that Chie is needy in the way that she needs others to need her. If she can at least be the kind of person who other people need, it gives her value. She can't be the kind of girly-girl that guys like, and there is no contest between her and the female members of the Investigation Team. She doesn't want to admit her own short comings, and her own negative emotions, even to herself to start with, but as is the theme of Persona 4, Chie does manage to come to terms with her own dark side. Throughout the game, Chie channels that nasty feeling into protecting her friends and finding value in her own self.
Also through the course of the game, it's revealed that Chie is very intuitive. Put differently, she guesses really well and has incredible dumb luck. From the start of the game, she tends to be somewhat of a deus ex machina--"Have you guys heard about the Midnight Channel?"--but it becomes a running gag later on that she tends to blurt out whatever she's thinking, and it has a bad habit of being right. She's very aware that she speaks before thinking, and tends to not even believe what she's saying, laughing it off while making fun of herself.
Being from a small town, famous only for its Amagi Inn, run by her best friend's family, Chie is the kind of person curious about every strange thing that might happen, from the appearance of Souji from the city to the idea of the Midnight Channel. But while she seems like she wants to find new and uncharted things, when they actually do appear, Chie can be very afraid of them, quick to panic when there's nothing she can do to assist. When Yosuke and Souji enter the TV without her, leaving her holding a cut strand of rope, she refuses to move, panicking that the two might never come back and is angered and relieved to the point of tears when they come back unharmed.
Chie is a kind of person who’s strongly protective of her friends. No matter what, she will come to their aide. The theme of the game is very strongly the power of the bonds of friendship. Chie is no different from the rest of the cast in this, and by the end of the game, is more devoted than ever. Her friendship helps Chie understand who she is and who she wants to be, and help her define herself.
[orientation]
Chie's never shown in a set sexual relationship with any character. That is to say, it is entirely possible for the Souji to have a romantic social link with her, but it is not required to finish the game, or achieve any set ending. As you can see, I won't be playing Chie from the max social link, which would make it so that she never had a canon sexual experience.
That said, I'm not willing to label Chie as a particular sexuality and really say it's canon. Her relationship with Yukiko, no matter how many hints are dropped, is left to fan speculation. Chie does not ever have a set romantic partner in the game.
So I suppose that was all just to say that canon leaves it pretty open and due to a lack of irrefutable canon proof, I'm going to leave this section as UNKNOWN.
[appearance]
Chie is only a few months off from being 18 by the end of canon. With the age-up those last three/four months, Chie's changes would be fairly... hard to notice. She's past the growing stage, and she makes an effort to keep herself in good shape. I kind of want to say that changes wouldn't be noticeable? Is that okay?
[wish]
Chie's wish would be to have the courage and strength to remain able to protect both her friends and those who can't protect themselves.
(I would like to note here that, even with an incomplete social link, this has always been, and will always be a big part of Chie. Despite the fact the social link leads her to pursue a career in law enforcement, Chie has always been protective of the ones she cares for.)

[misc notes]
Chie has the power of Persona. If she had a maxed social link, she would have the persona Suzuka Gongen. Since she does not, however, she has the power of the persona Tomoe Gozen. Tomoe is very physical-attack based with a few ice spells included. She resists ice and is weak to fire. (A full list of skills can be found here) Obviously Chie wouldn't be able to use them normally, but under certain circumstances...

[It's very easy for Chie to come off as unamused. The way she holds herself always screams her emotions. Excitable or frustrated, Chie's heart is always on her sleeve.
And today she is unmistakably unamused.]
How does anybody move in these things? [She picks at her Yukata a little bit, frown deep set on her face.] And they don't really expect me to work in them, right? It's just a temporary thing so we don't run around naked, right? Since they took my clothes and everything.
[She gives it a few moments of thought before a sigh.] Sheesh, you'd think I would've gone through enough trouble so far to spot it coming a mile away, huh? I can just hear myself talking to the guys back home, now. "Yeah, I totally made a deal with this complete stranger who promised me one wish." What was I even thinking?
And I mean, it's not like I don't know to be careful of strangers after everything. [A nervous laugh] You'd think after eighteen years, you'd get over making deals for wishes. That's something you do when you're eight or nine isn't it? I mean, what was I even thinking--
[And this is Chie talking just to talk. It's a thing she does sometimes when she's panicking. When she realizes it, she winces.] ... I guess the only way to say it is I'm an idiot.

Don't think--Feel! This had been Chie's motto for as long as anyone could remember, though no one ever thought to really wonder what it meant. Most people just passed it off as something silly, the normal fare when it came to her. Always saying the first thing that comes to mind, and only realizing that what she said sounded ridiculous afterward. But in a sense, Chie's saying was exactly that. Sometimes, in order to do what needed to be done, one had to just jump in without thinking about repercussions. Sometimes, it just needed to feel right, and that was all that mattered. Gut instinct, intuition, whatever you wanted to call it, it had always been on Chie's side.
And she hoped it remained on her side, now. Ukiyo was not her normal place to be randomly guessing--history belonged in history books in her opinion. At the same time, she almost found herself wishing that she had actually studied her history more in school. Maybe then, she'd be able to pull off some guesswork to get everyone out of here without this whole servitude thing.
Which, when she thought about it, was really the last thing she wanted to be doing to pay back a debt she didn't intend to even have. "Entertainment." She shuddered at the thought of it. Partially because, as she thought, ew, who wants to sleep with people they don't even know, partially because she thought it sounded way too much like being a hooker, and partially because, well... she'd really rather fight with a guy than sleep with him. And all around entertainment? She had a feeling she'd really mess that one up.
With a shake of her head, she allowed a thought to pass through her mind. I wish Yukiko was here... She knew how to do all this stuff. She could make anyone happy, and she was way more in tune with the whole historical Japan vibe. She scolded herself immediately after, for even thinking about it.
But no matter how much she struggled and hated herself for wishing her friend could be in such a bad situation... Chie found it hard to deny.

Jul. 28th, 2011 11:00 pm[Aigis fully understood she had limited time in Iwatodai without raising suspicion. But she also understood that it was her desire to stay in this place as long as she could--stay with her friends for as long as she could.
But as she woke on the first day of her second and last year of high school with a sick and cold anxiety somewhere inside of her. A new year with new friends, new teachers, new homerooms, and new horrific memories of a place called Mayfield.
But she took a deep and unnecessary breath to steady herself and her heart ached just a bit missing her friends that she'd met in that awful place...
I didn't even have a chance to say goodbye...
But she straightens her bow as if the thought had never crossed her mind. She made a promise to live her life without such regrets, and no matter what happened, she needed to press forward.
... But she couldn't dull the ache of missing the one person who could ever understand what she had gone through. She adjusted her bow as she stepped onto the train that would carry her to Gekkoukan once more.]

May. 28th, 2011 05:12 amKen Amada was not waiting another moment to meet Shinjiro Aragaki.
He had lost his chance three times, and no amount of exhaustion from digging, no amount of cold, no amount of inability to remember his weekend--again--was going to stop Ken Amada from confronting the teenager.
Nothing would stand in his way.
Though anxiety ate at his stomach, Ken left his message, short, private, to meet him at a certain spot on the shoreline.
... And it seemed so, so familiar, as he watched Nemesis playing in the sand, that he began to feel sick all over again.
When, exactly, had the beach become his?
