Katrina Hays is an award-winning and Pushcart Prize-nominated writer whose poetry, essays, and fiction have appeared in Apalachee Review, Gray’s Sporting Journal, The Hollins Critic, Psychological Perspectives, SAIL, Scuba Diving, and Tahoma Literary Review, among many others. She was program assistant and guest faculty at the Rainier Writing Workshop at Pacific Lutheran University, where she received an MFA and founded and edited the program journal Soundings.

Katrina is the recipient of multiple artist residencies, including Emerging Artist-in-Residence at Crater Lake National Park (with photographer Steven McBurnett), Vermont Studio Center, and the Whitely Center. A former Regional Assistant Editorfor Fireweed: Poetry of Oregon, Katrina interned at Copper Canyon Press.



In 2024 Katrina created the Eclectic Horseman Magazine profile series, “The Next Paradigm Shifters,” interviewing important equine teachers and trainers such as Warwick Schiller, Karen Rohlf, Jim Masterson, Nahshon Cook, and Temple Grandin. She is certified as a Masterson Method Practitioner of equine bodywork, and studies the art of dressage in Bend, Oregon.
