Haircuts Galore!

Boston is now 3 1/2 months old. He has had 5 full blown hair cuts since then. We thought he was going to be born with lots of hair since we were pretty sure we could see it on the ultrasound we got. He got a trim at 2 weeks, a full haircut with scissors at a month and a half, and 3 haircuts since with the clippers. Luckily Boston loves his head rubbed so it has been easy-peasy everytime.

Halloween

What? You say! It is already almost Christmas and she is barely posting about Halloween? Well yes, this whole having a better, easier to grab camera on your phone than the actual camera makes it very hard for me to steal Kory's phone and upload all the pictures.

I searched high and low for ideas for a costume for Boston this year. Kory was a Halloween scrooge and said it was stupid to dress up a 2 month old but I was having none of that! I finally narrowed it down to 3 options and started searching stores for the different items I would need to make the costume. I am here to tell you that NO ONE sells white sweats in baby sizes. Grrr. He was going to make the CUTEST dalmation ever! When it came down to it he ended up being my last choice of costume but it ended up turning out adorable anyway!!!

I loved it, Kory liked it, everyone I met that saw him in it loved it. Boston HATED it! :-)

Adin was not thrilled about having to hold Boston for the pictures. Boston was not thrilled to be in the picture.

Boston calmed right down as soon as the 1 1/2 year old lost interest and left the picture. Ha!

Now I know to not try and pose a hungry baby!

Pumpkin Walk

Our town has a pumpkin walk every year around Halloween. We had some fun this year waiting in the lines at the end of the pumpkin walk.

These next 2 are my faves.

Keep reading below for more on my adorable family!!!

Daddy and Boston

I love seeing Kory interact with Boston, he is really such a good dad!! I always knew he would be but it is so much fun to see how good he really is! I just wanted to share a couple cute pictures I have snapped of the two of them together. I am afraid he is going to be a daddy's boy when I kind of want him to be a mommy's boy.

On another side note about my wonderful husband, the other night Boston had a rough night. He woke up at 3 and would not settle back down. I was trying everything I knew to do and nothing was working. Boston is normally a very good sleeper! I finally got him to fall asleep in his bouncer about 6 and I crashed on the couch. Kory didn't have to work that day so about 7 he came out and led me back to bed. He let me sleep for 2 1/2 glorious hours! When I woke up he brought me a delicious breakfast in bed and I came out to a clean house!!! I am one EXTREMELY lucky girl!!!! I love you Kory!

Bathtime and Ferb

Boston LOVES bathtime. We knew he would from day 1. We would dip his head under the faucet to try and tame his unruly hair and he would completely relaxed.
Image
It hasn't changed since we were finally able to give him a real bath. (Yes, this was a month or so again, I have just been waiting for Kory to put all his pictures on the computer.)
Image
Here is his first bath, I know it looks like I am a liar but I swear he cheered right up after the initial shock! Sept. 9, 2012

Kory is very protective of his privacy in pictures. :-)

Ferb.

Ferb is our new puppy. When Buster died we decided we would try to wait until January till we got a new dog, then it changed to October, and then it became next week. It was so hard not to have a dog around when we were so used to it. Boston is such a good baby I was sure I could handle a puppy too. I still haven't decided if it was the smartest move. Ferb is so lovable but such a bad, bad puppy. :-)Potty training has been quite the adventure. Yesterday I would have told you we were almost there, today...back to square one.
I am here to tell you the differences between raising a puppy and a baby.
1. You can put a diaper on a baby.
2. There is much more love involved with a baby making it much easier.
3. Boston is sooooo much easier to take care of then Ferb.

Ha! Ferb is a pure bred Shih-Tzu. The same breed as Buster. My mom keeps reminding me Buster was just like Ferb as a puppy so there must be hope.

Tribute

This is one of those blog posts that is probably more for me and Kory then for everyone else out there. I know I have mentioned before that I print these out as a journal/keepsake for our family and that will be a huge reason for this post. It is also a lot more personal than most my posts so sorry! I looked the definition of tribute up to make sure that was a good title for this blog and it definitely is! Tribute: a gift, testimonial, compliment, or the like, given as due or inacknowledgment of gratitude or esteem.

We had to say goodbye to our very best friend this week and it has quite possibly been some of the hardest days of my life. We had to put Buster Trudee down on Wednesday. She hadn't been herself for a few weeks now and the past few days had gotten extremely bad. She had completely stopped eating and was throwing up constantly. I took her to the vet thinking I could get her on some anti-depressants since this had all started when we brought Boston home. Unfortunately we found out her kidneys had failed and she didn't have much longer to live.  I honestly think the only other time I have cried as long and as hard as I did at hearing this news was after our first and second miscarriage. That is how close and dear to our family Buster was.

We made the very hard decision of knowing we couldn't make her suffer more than she already had. The poor dog was obviously miserable. We tried to make her last day the best we possible could and let her do all the things she loved. Her stamina was almost completely gone and the day really just involved letting her lay outside and shower as much love on her as we could. She spent her last night in her favorite place, cuddled up between me and Kory in our bed. I chose to be with her during the sedation part of the process and she fell asleep being held and talked to by me. That was probably my smartest move as it offered me a good deal of closure. We then brought her home and had a mini funeral for her.

Buster was quite literally like a child to us. For years we had tried to have a baby and could not. Buster literally pulled us through some very hard times and took the place of something we could not yet have. She was the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever met, with a loyalty to us that could not be matched. People who have never had a pet like Buster would probably say we are crazy but the attachment between Buster and us was very real, tangible, and loving. I firmly believe that Heavenly Father helped Buster to live until we adopted Boston. According to the vet she had been sick for months based on how far gone her kidneys were. She never let on and persevered until we had our baby.

Some of my favorite quirks about Buster that I never want to forget:
*Buster was fanatical about string cheese. Anytime we opened the drawer that held the string cheese she was stuck to us like glue. She absolutely loved the stuff!
*Every morning when I did my workout Buster would show up at the end when I got down to do my sit-ups and she would quickly crawl on top of me and lay across my stomach. There was no way I could do the sit-ups with her laying there.
* Whenever Buster really wanted something she would do a fake sneeze over and over. Effectively spraying us with snot until she was appeased.
*Every morning between 5:30-6:30 Buster would approach my side of the bed and softly scratch until I lifted her into it. She knew this was the only time she was allowed in the bed.
*Buster really liked to be in the center of attention. Every time Kory and I would get close together Buster would come wrestle her way between us.
*Buster would also clean up her mess in the house. If we had any of her toys or bones out in the living room, she would pick them up one by one and take them back to "her room."
*Buster loved walks, treats, her ears twisted, car rides, she hated baths, haircuts, her front paws touched, Kory giving attention to the neighbors dogs.

Well, if you are still with me I apologize for the length and somber tone of this blog. I have been feeling like I needed to write this all down for a couple days now in order to cope and have some closure. I actually feel quite cleansed. :-) We absolutely adored Buster and she was truly a blessing in our lives.

Photo Shoot

My brother Andy Marchant is a photographer so as soon as we returned from Las Vegas I called and scheduled a photo shoot. I wish I could have done them a little earlier to catch him at his newest newborn state but since circumstances wouldn't allow at least he isn't quite 2 weeks old yet in these! I will warn you, I had a hard time picking and choosing, I have sooo many favorites so just bear with me!
Image
Amazingly he had no problem sitting in the dump truck!!
Image

Image
This one is totally his facial expression he likes to make so I had to include it.
Image
 I just love baby feet!
Image
Kory hooped and hollered about his son having pictures taken "in the nude." I managed to win out somehow. :-)
Image
He is really such a happy little guy!
Image
 How cute!
Image
 Tender!!
Image
You can totally tell he LOVES the kisses he is constantly getting from his parents. I can't believe this little guy will already be a month tomorrow! It is going too fast and he is growing too fast! Best milestones: He is doing much better sleeping through the night now, a couple nights ago he went 8 hours and last night 6 1/2. I'll take it! That is a huge improvement to the every 2 he was at at first! He has also started smiling when I talk to him! We are just loving him to death and love to see his development. Thanks Andy (http://aam-photo.blogspot.com/) for the great pictures!

Baby Call!

I have exciting news! Kory and I are FINALLY parents!!!! It feels like it has been the longest road and still feels a little surreal. There is a lot of writing ahead-you can skip it if you want and just look at pictures but I want to have it all written down.

For a quick background story in March we went to a conference with LDSFS and it was the most depressing night! They spoke about how fewer and fewer girls were even coming in to talk to them and more and more families were signing up with LDSFS. AAAHHH! We left that night sooo depressed! We had talked about adding another agency on when we hit our year mark with LDSFS and decided maybe we should start a little earlier. We started with Premier Adoption in May and it has been an awesome experience since day 1. We were told about this baby on July 18th and he was due September 2nd!

August 27th at 5:20 I got the call that she was in labor and we needed to head to Las Vegas where he was being born. I was still at work so I told the doctor I was leaving and he would have to handle it on his own and was out the door. He seemed a little bugged. :-) Especially since I turned my back on him and answered the call while he was giving me instructions for a patient. :-) I had to drive all the way back to Logan to get Kory and then we were off! We got to the hospital at 1:15 am and he had been born at 12:52. We technically weren't allowed to see him yet because we didn't have any rights but with a little cajoling to the nurse she let us come meet him for 10 minutes. It was instant love!!!

We were able to get visitation rights first thing the next morning. Due to Nevada state laws the birth mom could not sign over her rights for 72 hours so he had to stay in the hospital for 72 hours. We moved into the hospital room. The nurses were great! They totally let us take over his care, I think since he didn't really need to be there they were more than happy to not have to worry about him too much besides weighing all his diapers and getting his temp a few times a day.

Friday morning the birth mom signed over all of her rights and we signed to have all rights. It was an amazing feeling!!! The doctor didn't discharge us till 4:30 that afternoon, it was torture! We moved in to a Best Western across town and will be here until this next Thursday at the earliest. We have to wait for the State of Nevada and the State of Utah to communicate and allow us to cross state lines. It seems like a long time but I have heard of states that are 30 days so I guess we won't complain. :-)

In case you are still with me...enjoy the pictures of the most adorable little boy!!!! Boston Richard Call. Born at 7 lbs 4 oz, 18 inches long. In no particular order:

The first day we were there Kory started freaking out that Boston was getting really hot! He was so worried he was getting a fever! He wasn't getting a fever...Ha Ha Ha!
Image
Not even 24 hours old yet!

Image
The made me leave the hospital in a wheelchair! I assured them I didn't need that but they insisted. I will admit I felt pretty important. ;-)

I was lucky to catch this one! He smiles ALOT when he is asleep but he usually knows when I am trying to catch it.

He doesn't love the seat too much. :-)

Kory's fist hair styling. Adorable!!! No, I am not choking him! He rested his chin on my hand when I was about to burp him.

We are sooo in love with this little guy! He has changed our world for the better! He has the most adorable little personality and is sooo easygoing.
