| Edit: ALL FOUND, thank you all so much. Hello friends! Do any of you happen to have any of Fabella's (aka wistful_fever) Supernatural vids saved? I have the one called "Your Own Personal Codependent Wet Dream," XD but I'm looking for any others. Please let me know if you have any files you can share? Thank you! (Not for public posting, just for preserving.) | |

| If you haven't watched this series, you need to. Star Trek Continues
And then please come talk to me about it! (And to those who told me about it, you were absolutely correct.) ETA: I happened to start with the third episode on a whim, and I definitely think it starts to get really good at that point.

| Sure, why not? 1. Your main fandom of the year? Definitely 12 Monkeys, in terms of time and interest, though I continue to produce very little in the way of fannish content.
2. Your favorite film you watched this year? Dune 3. Your favourite book read this year? I'm still not finding much time to read. I did enjoy One Last Stop and The Invention of Wings. 4. Your favourite album or song to listen to this year? Been listening to lots of jazz and chill house music as background, but not a lot intentionally. However, I got mildly obsessed with a song called "I Found" (Amber Run) and have like 8 versions of it. Also been listening to Michael Malarkey a ton. 5. Your favourite TV show of the year? Ted Lasso 6. Your best new fandom discovery of the year? Mostly rediscovering old favorites. I spent a couple of months wildly obsessed with Justified (again). Was it this year that I watched Spartacus for the first time? That was great. (Thank you, destina !) And I've been fannish enough about Ted Lasso to read a story here and there. (Pretty much entirely Keeley/Roy/Jamie and Keeley/Rebecca) 7. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year? Hmm...I think everything was pleasantly undisappointing, in general! I really liked Black Widow, and Dune, and the Matrix movie. Season 2 of Ted Lasso was awesome. Dexter: New Blood is okay, but my expectations weren't high, so not disappointed I guess. If I had to pick one, it'd be S3 of Lost in Space. I'd been really looking forward to it, but only found myself mildly interested. Never mind, scratch that, after squeeing with Destina about the stuff that was great, I've decided it was exactly what it needed to be, and I was just grumpy that day. :D. 8. Your fandom boyfriend(s) of the year? Raylan Givens ( Justified) and Roy Kent ( Ted Lasso) 9. Your fandom girlfriend(s) of the year? Jennifer Goines ( 12 Monkeys) and Rosa Ortecho ( Roswell, NM) 10. Your biggest squee moment of the year? Pretty much all of S3 of Roswell, NM. Especially the Malex parts, of course, but also, my Rosa & Isobel & Maria feelings! My found family feelings! Oh, and that photo of Brett Goldstein and Phil Dunster cuddling on the red carpet, wherever that is—I can't seem to Google the right one at the moment. 11. The most missed of your old fandoms? I didn't have time to miss anything, honestly, just my own participation in them. :) But feeling nostalgic for ST:TOS for reasons. 12. The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to? Nothing new. Just want more time/inspiration/motivation to participate in the ones I already have, especially— 13. Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year? STAR TREK STRANGE NEW WORLDS, BABY! (and also Disco S4 which I haven't started yet.)
ETA: Looking at my fandom bfs and gfs for the year, I am laughing, because wow, do I have a type in both cases!

| I usually agree that it's better to give than to receive, but honestly, I was not at my best this year writing holiday exchange fic. I did try my best, and I appreciate my betas helping me, but I know I'm rusty. The gifts I received, however, are just so, so happy-making. Both of them are absolutely packed full of little details that are exactly to my tastes, down to specific headcanons and tropes and settings. Both have the voices down so well that I could hear all the characters without effort. I am verklempt. For hlh_shortcuts, I received this note-perfect crossover where Methos meets Bucky in the FatWS time period: Home for Christmas (Gen, 3,026 words) Fandoms: Highlander and MCU ( The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) Characters: Methos, Bucky Barnes, Duncan MacLeod, Joe Dawson Summary: In the winter of 2024, roughly a year after half the planet has been snapped back into existence, Methos is wandering the streets of New York, trying to reconnect with an old friend. I never knew how much I would enjoy Methos meeting Bucky Barnes, and I loved the dense, chewy back story on both sides, here. Touches on Bucky's feelings about Steve's decisions, about Sam Wilson, and about the siren song of home, and mirrors all that in Methos's feelings about MacLeod and his own little family. I've had the best time mentally filling in the details and imagining what comes next for both of them. Everything I love in a crossover! And for yuletide, even though I always, perpetually, for almost 20 years now (when I actually participate in Yuletide) ask for Jeremiah/Kurdy, it hasn't happened in a long, long time, and I am just so chuffed about this one: Course Correction (could be either pre-slash or platonic life partners, 1,262 words) Fandom: Jeremiah (TV) Relationship: Jeremiah/Kurdy Malloy Summary: Kurdy and Jeremiah have spent years on the road, before and after Thunder Mountain. Between them, maybe they can finally think about starting anew. This is pretty much exactly what I asked for—Jeremiah and Kurdy on the road again after the show ended, finding their way back to each other. Plus, bonus protective Kurdy being there to shield Jeremiah from his toxic world-killing dad, and extra bonus Theo guest appearance! Perfect characterization and voices. I missed them so much. My heart is happy, and thankful. Giving is awesome, but sometimes so is receiving. This entry was originally posted at https://killabeez.dreamwidth.org/577927.html. | If you are the person who nominated Being Erica for Yuletide with the character "worldbuilding," please, for all that's holy, comment on the Yulebuilding post. I'm not saying for sure that I can fulfill your dreams, but I AM saying for sure that if I can, I will.

| I'm so happy that hlh_shortcuts is still happening! An edit of my letter for the last (many) years, since not much has changed: Thank you so much for writing for me, kind Santa! I love all genres of fic and virtually every Highlander character there is, so if you get inspired, chances are I'll love it no matter what it is. If that's too much to choose from and you want me to narrow it down—Duncan/Methos, Duncan/Methos/Amanda, and Amanda femslash are my perennial favorites. I also love found family tropes, and the various "houses" of Immortals (such as in Rhi's Line War series)—for example, Rebecca, Amanda, and Michelle, and/or any of Amanda's students... Ceirdwyn, Matthew, Cory, Carl, Derek (and Katherine and Alex!)... Ramirez, Connor, Duncan, and Richie, etc. 1. PREFERRED TYPE/PEOPLE: Duncan, Amanda, Methos, Connor. I love pretty much all the characters on the show, but something with one or more of my favorite four would be ideal. Other faves are Joe, Richie, Tessa, Fitz, Nick Wolfe, May-Ling, Cory, Ceirdwyn, Alex. Any of these as part of a rarepair or crossover situation would be awesome.2. PREFERENCES: I love relationships, romantic or otherwise. Give some attention to what the characters mean to each other, or how their lives are intertwined, and I'll be happy. Other things I love: caper fic, domestic idylls, post-apocalypse (no zombies, though!!), time travel, cave stories/Canadian Shack, quickening shenanigans, reunions after long absences, Immortal perspectives on current events or history, Watcher shenanigans, slash, het, gen, femslash, crossovers, found family, what-ifs/alternate timelines. (Feel free to un-kill anyone!)3. DISLIKES: Abusive relationships, MPREG, transphobia, Methos/Joe (definitely here for their friendship, though), any view of Duncan that involves the words "judgmental" or "clueless" or generally paints him as an annoyance the other characters have to tolerate. (He's my favorite, so if you don't love him, please leave him out! I'll happily read about someone(s) else.)I love shippy stories, but I consider friendship a ship, so a Duncan & Joe (or Duncan & Richie, or Methos & Amanda, Richie & Tessa, Duncan & Fitz, etc.) friendship story would be great. I love almost all the characters, especially the Immortals. I would love more May-Ling in particular. I love HL:The Raven, if that's relevant to your interests. (Amanda/Lucy Becker is of particular interest, as is Amanda/Jade, and I love Nick and Bert and Liam.) As for the movies, there can be only one. I don't mind OCs, but generally prefer it when writers either use a crossover character to fill an OC role, or pick up a one-episode Highlander character and delve into their unexplored story or backstory. These days, AUs are fun for me, too. What-ifs are still a favorite kind, but I'm also into whatever creative idea you want to explore. But if you have a great idea for an OC, I'm here for it! Especially if it illuminates something about one of our main characters. I am fine with largely introspective stories, especially from an Immortal point of view. Or a holiday fic! Warm found family feels around a crackling fireplace, buying each other gifts, cooking together, any of those things. (Which found family is up to you!) Personal triggers and/or strong DNWs: Animal harm, zombies, transphobia (incl. crossdressing used for "humor"), vomiting/stomach illness, sexual violence on screen A few more of my favorite things: magical effects/quickening weirdnesses, Immortals having special powers (like Connor's underwater breathing, Duncan sensing the deaths at Sanctuary, Darius foreseeing his own death, Cassandra's Voice, etc.—what's Methos's hidden power?), threesomes, historical fic, amnesia, bed-sharing, humor is great if that's your forté, road trips, awkward soul-bonding. Love hurt/comfort in this fandom. No limit on rating. I enjoy the thorny subject of infidelity, so if you get the urge to write Tessa/Amanda—YES PLEASE. (Tessa/Amanda fuck-or-die also of interest!) Or just write me what happens on a typical night at Joe's. A missing piece of any episode would also make me happy. I'm here for the Highlander, so straight up HL is awesome. However, if the urge strikes you, I also love crossovers, gen or otherwise. Current fandoms I'm interested in crossing with Highlander: Interview with the Vampire (TV), Jeremiah, 12 Monkeys (TV), Black Sails, Person of Interest, Magnificent 7 (TV), Imposters, Longmire (books or TV), Hornblower (books or TV), Appaloosa (books or movie), Supernatural (Sam-girl, but I also love the Wayward Sisters), Killjoys, Miracles, Justified. Relationships: any permutation of Duncan/Methos/Amanda, Duncan/Methos or Duncan/Amanda is made of win. If m/m, my favorite pairs would probably include Duncan—but I'll read him with pretty much anyone. (Duncan/Connor is a fave!) I do love select Methos pairings... Methos/Connor being one of them, Methos/Darius another. Methos/Amanda, or really, Amanda/anyone. Gen with the whole extended family—love! ♥ | |

| Does anyone have a recommendation for a wireless fall/medical alert for seniors? Thank you in advance. Edited: I'd love to find one that can both notify a caregiver in the house and also alert emergency services if needed, but the caregiver notification (in the house) is more important.

| Hello, my little monkeys! While we're taking an intermission between S1 and 2 of our rewatch, I'm going to share some fun extras. This one is a pure delight. Bonus: Season 1 gag reel(Note: as long as these are non-spoilery, I'll leave them public.)

| Heyyyy, so, melina wrote me a thing. It is an amazing, smoking hot, delectable crossover, and I can't recommend it highly enough to all my Highlander peeps—but also, for literally anyone who wants to read some gorgeous, emotional, kinky fic. Even if you don't know either fandom, it's incredible. I gave it to my non-fannish wife, and she was fanning herself in the first few pages. (She's also now listening to all the Discovery of Witches books, so I think it took!) Please add this to your reading list! Force of NatureFandoms: Highlander/Discovery of Witches Pairing: Amanda/Matthew Clairmont Summary: It was the woman who commanded his attention; even with her back to him, she was striking—tall, with dark, glossy hair pulled back at the nape of her neck. His impression was confirmed as she looped the boy's leash into a hook on the wall and turned around. She couldn't have been much older than thirty, but she carried herself like royalty, leaving little room for doubt as to the force of her personality—or that she was a dominant to be reckoned with. Mistress Amanda commands that you read this. And on that note, I think it's time for a re-read... (p.s. hi, Dreamwidth and LJ. At least I still remember my passwords?)

| I love Highlander. It's the fandom of my heart. I think that's probably more than obvious? But this year's exchange fest—hosted YET AGAIN by the generous, amazing, and awesome amand_r—once more illuminates many of the reasons why. First, I am so grateful to have a fandom that ended with a glorious host of characters still alive. As they were planning for a spin-off, I think they deliberately left lots of storylines open, which is delicious fannish catnip! But that isn't the only explanation for why this is the fandom that keeps on giving. I think it's us, too. And the wide open field of story fodder, which seems to never reach its limits. Second, I received two AMAZING stories this year. I can't even begin to guess what I did to deserve such bounty, but these gifts are TOP SHELF y'all: The Stars Look Very Different Today by argentum_lsA gen story featuring Duncan, Connor, and Methos. This is basically a fix-it for Endgame, which, YES PLEASE ALL OF THIS. It's beautifully atmospheric and evocative, and I couldn't have asked for a more satisfying or beautiful resolution to bring Connor back into Duncan's life at the end of the series. That's one of my dearest wishes for post-series fic, so this was incredibly happy-making. Earth Laughs In Flowers by hafitalWell, this girl knows how to make me happy, that's all I'll say. Duncan/Methos + time travel + a universe made of kittens? That basically describes my brain. But that only begins to describe how magical and perfect this story is. I don't think I've ever read anything in fandom so perfectly tailored to reflect my id. Third, I have more recs! But I have to work, so I am going to dole them out. If I have to share only one two THREE, I'll go with these three: Ravens, Circling by mackiedockieGen, Joe-centric, with glorious appearances by Richie, Methos, Duncan, and others. If I could ever write a story like this, I'd probably smash my computer to the ground and call it good. Inside the Lines by brightknightieGorgeous historical fic (Ceirdwyn-centric) set in Belgium during WWI. It's just...perfect. The Saga of Albus Pricklemore by calimeDuncan/Methos with appearances by Amanda, Joe, and a hedgehog. This is such a pure delight. Hilarious, adorable, fun romp that I have bookmarked forever, and I feel rocketed to "insta-classic" status in the fandom (or would if I had any say in the matter). I already saved it to my cloud drive, because some stories need to live forever, dammit. Fourth, I also posted some stories. One was my actual assignment, and one was a pinch hit, but honestly, I could not have loved them more equally. First, I wrote: Centers of Symmetry for havocthecat (Amanda/Rebecca, Ceirdwyn, Joe, Richie, Methos, Katherine, Cassandra, Alex Raven, etc.)—So, I didn't mean to write death fic. I really didn't. But apparently, that's how I roll lately? Though this was meant honestly to be the opposite of that. Duncan MacLeod is probably my favorite fictional character of all time (stop looking at me, Sam Winchester), so I didn't kill him off lightly? This was meant to be a contrasting view of the HL universe—what happens if you take Duncan out of the picture in 1994, before most of the Big Drama happens? Turns out, maybe some of those fantastic women in the HL pantheon get their chance to shine. Only Light (Duncan/Tessa) for brightknightieThis was the polar opposite of my other fic. Basically, Tessa lives. Because she deserves to. (And maybe you can interpolate that Richie also lives a lot longer; I'm okay with that.) A what-if that made me really happy to write, and that melina was kind enough to volunteer to beta unasked. Fifth—OMG, I have something SO AMAZING to share with you, but it's not posted yet. BUT IT WILL BE SOON.

| So, that's a thing. That is (maybe?) happening.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ETA: Oh, and hlh_shortcuts is open for signups! Which is also a thing that is happening! I'm thinking about asking for something a bit different this year. ETA2: While I'm here, I might as well mention that I wrote a quick fic last week for salt-burn-porn: Title: Rarely Pure and Never Simple (AO3) Fandom: Supernatural Pairing: Sam/Dean Wordcount: ~2,940 words Tags: truth spells, post-episode 14.20 Summary: “Do you watch us? When you're not here, are—are you watching us?”
“Sam...you and your brother, of all the Sams and Deans in all the multiverse, you're my favorite. You're just so interesting. I mean, like that thing that happened at the office earlier today—that was crazy, right?”

| stolen from minim_calibre :) The one who seduced you, screwed you over, broke your heart in a million pieces, and laughed about it.HAVEN. I'm still bitter about it, mostly because it was a tiny fandom to begin with—the least it could have done is not be THAT GUY. The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp:Supernatural. Occasional pleasant nostalgic romp is exactly where I'm at with it. The mysterious dark one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 AM at weird coffee houses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized they really were fucking crazy:Magicians. With a little "broke your heart in a million pieces" stirred in. The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor and whom you'd still really like to get with again, although you're relieved they don't actually live in town:2 Guns. Don't ask me. The steady:Highlander, obviously. The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with:Hannibal. But I'm trying, destina, I swear! The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with, but ultimately you're just good buddies:Longmire. The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool person except it's never really gone anywhere:MCU. The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at them and thinking, "How the hell did they land all these cool people?"Ummmm...I'll go with Teen Wolf! The one who gave you the best damned summer of your life and against whom you measure all other potential partners: Jeremiah. (Or Merlin. I need a new category for Merlin.) ETA: Nope, I missed the obvious answer, here: Xena, of course! The one you recently met at a party and would like to get to know better: Black Sails! ♥ The old flame that you wouldn't totally object to hooking up with again for a one night romp if only they'd clean up a bit:Kirk/Spock, for sure—or Trek in general, any flavor. Your hot new flame:Roswell, New Mexico. The one who stole your significant other:Oh, so many. Smallville? SGA? Harry Potter? MCU? The offenses are endless.
