I've never been much of a IRC head.. years and years and years ago, I was pretty frequently on ICB, and of course before that BBS's.
But a while back I needed to access AIM and my phones client was being a bitch.. so i fired up my client on my windows boxen, and forgot i had setup IRC to log me into EW.. and i remembered there are people on here i never get to see anymore and often have amazing inane conversations!..
Now my big problem with chat systems, and IM is I hate to be tied to a single computer and I hate even more forgetting im logged in somewhere else and may or may not have messages there.. I'm also easily distracted, and dont want to devite hours of my time to it.. so for the most part I go with a mobile client, its always with me, and there when i need it. (problem is IRC is just too much for a little screen.)
But as a method to do what i basically want loginto IRC and access it from anywhere, i just opened a screen window on my shell unix account, and installed bitchX IRC client,
Now I can just detach the screen session and access it anywhere i have SSH (like on my phone) or work, or home..
YaY, now I can keep in touch with old friends, and not devote my life to it!..
