Three Discussion Questions

Oct. 29th, 2007 | 03:11 pm

Please answer the questions as honestly as possible:

Milbert, a 49 years old unmarried man, was shopping one day; however, while paying the cashier, he seemed to go crazy and killed the cashier -- a mother of two young children. Milbert was soon after arrested. Before trial, Milbert was given a brain scan and it was discovered that he had a tumour on his amygdala. One week later, Milbert was given brain surgery and the tumour was removed. After Milbert recovered from the surgery, he was put on trial. Several doctors testified that Milbert would be unlikely to lose control now that the tumour was removed; however, the judge still sentenced Milbert to a long jail term. Was the judge correct? Why or why not?

Dr. Froop is a 38 year old research scientist. He was working on a formula to cure cancer, and he was sure he found the answer. He only had to do a small amount of research; however, the company that was funding his project cut him off for a different project to create a new bubblegum cola. Dr. Froop was positive that with just a bit more research he could provide the world with the cure for cancer. Dr. Froop decided to forge some data and release the project to scientific journals in the hope that he would be able to gain new funding and then prove his theory correct. Unfortunately, his forged data was discovered, and he was fired from his job and arrested for fraud. Other scientists are still unsure if his theory is correct or not. Should Dr. Froop have forged the data? Why or why not?

Karl has decided that he wants to sacrifice himself to help the human race. He has heard that a few scientific studies are being held back due to the unethical nature of performing on human subjects. Karl seeks out and finds Dr. Eve Eel, a prestigious researcher, and requests that she conduct experiments on him that normally would not be conducted on others. At first, Dr. Eve Eel is hesitant and suspects that something may be psychologically wrong with Karl; however, after many psychological examinations it is determined that there is nothing abnormal with him. Karl gives his signed consent for the experiments after the doctor makes the study as transparent to as possible and provides him with all necessary information. If the experiments are conducted, Dr. Eve Eel may cause Karl to suffer through pain and perhaps even death while also risking her own imprisonment. Given that Karl consents, the experiments are conducted in an ethical manner, and that the studies may benefit the human race should Dr. Eve Eel proceed?

After much demand, we will be invading the new territory of Granville Island. This is going to be rad! We will be meeting on the wood bridge under the big bridge along Anderson Street before beginning the rampage through the island.

BASIC MANHUNT RULES:

Manhunt is a hide-and-seek variant. The game starts out with one person, known as the MANHUNTER, who is “it”. After the manhunter has been selected, the FUGITIVES have 120 seconds to hide.

If a FUGITIVE is tagged by a MANHUNTER, she or he is BRAINWASHED and forced to join the side of the MANHUNTERS. At the end of the designated time limit, all FUGITIVES who have not been arrested are declared the winners.

Play occurs within predetermined boundaries. If a FUGITIVE exits these boundaries for any reason, she/he joins the MANHUNTERS. Players are identified as being distinct from the general civilian population by means of a HIGHLY-VISIBLE ARMBAND.

Manhunt! Zombie Vs. Zombie Hunters

Jul. 7th, 2007 | 12:46 pm

Mysteriously, people have started acting very strange. Random people throughout society have become wild and crazed. They begin as average day citizens, yet spontaneously they burst into frenzy and chase down unsuspecting victims. No one knows why or how but this epidemic is spreading across this fragile society. Some have begun to use the “Z” word and the increasing panic is nearly as destructive as the plight itself.

From the chaos, a few have risen from this new crisis with solid will and determination. Some used to have everything, and a few had nothing – no matter what – they have nothing to lose now. These bursting phoenixes of vengeance tear through the infected fuelled by fury and angst. These rampaging hunters may be the only hope society can grasp onto, yet gazing into their hellfire eyes, one cannot help to think that they may be as ravenous as what is currently chewing on society.

Parkour/Free Running Manhunt!

Jul. 7th, 2007 | 09:43 am

Saturday, July 7, 2007 ~ 2:00pm - 6:00pm @ The Art Gallery (W.Georgia & Howe) & Stadium Station ( Dunsmuir & Beatty)

This Saturday we will play Manhunt Parkour style for many of the members from Parkour BC ( http://pkbc.net/ ). Everything is part of the playground and everyone will be encouraged to use everything available. Running up walls, climbing buildings, and jumping over any obstacle is not only allowed, it is preferred. (within the boundaries of the law and personal safety of course)

While many will take on the extreme challenges, we will still be open to all other players like every Manhunt game — everyone is welcome to join in and have a blast.

We will meet at the art gallery at 2:00pm for a warm-up, and then we will go to Stadium Skytrain Station for the games. Call me at 778-228-2441 if you come late and want to know where we are.

Afterwards, we will go for dinner and refreshments.

Pirate vs. Ninja 7 Day Urban Gaming Clash June 4th-10th

Jun. 2nd, 2007 | 10:57 am

The war between Pirates and Ninjas has continued over countless generations. Will this be the final showdown between Pirates and Ninjas? The clash will continue each day, for seven days. Each will be able to show their merit as a true Pirate or Ninja through a series of challenges. These challenges will consist of Manhunt, Capture the Flag, Dodge Ball, Sardines, Ringolevio, Watergun fights, Bigger the Better, and more.

We also encourage everyone to wear your best attire to the events. Eye patches, peg legs, black garb, etc.

At this time, we are still hammering out the details so please keep up to date on any changes. We would also be very grateful for any feedback, suggestions, ideas, or hate-mail. This is an event for the community, so we would like as much participation as possible. Conclusive updates will be posted on the main website: http://manhunt-vancouver.com/

Suburbia Catastrophe

May. 5th, 2007 | 10:03 am

The leaders of the pack are heading out to mark some new territory as our own. We need all those who are neither sick nor lame to prowl into Joyce Station with us and then defend the new soil. There are no other options, but to spread out in search of new prey; the Manhunter masses are growing exponentially -- our comfortable habitat will not be able to sustain all of us for much longer. Only the strongest, quickest, and craftiest will be able to survive this endeavour. Yet, if you stay behind, the pack will lose faith in you. Come cut your teeth on the new location; get to know the area before others get a chance. If you survive, you can wear your courage as a badge. Yes, many will become prey themselves, yet to live life – to really live life – one must take near unconquerable risks.

WEDNESDAY May 9th 2007 @ 7:30 & 8:45 pm @ Joyce Skytrain Station
