Listening to this most recent DJ-set by discque-joquette CRi, multi-styled & mega-mixed for Dimentia’s Tarantella format, brings SO much fun. When you are one of the doubting sort, thinking that the fun, you might probably get out of that, can be hardly SO much as i just proclaimed, then better have a seat, preferably back, relax and let yourself go, while lending an ear, eventually believing such is much SO. If you believed it right away, do accordingly.

Beauty, powerless and helpless, hates understanding, because the latter exacts from it what it cannot perform. But the life of spirit is not one that shuns death, and keeps clear of destruction; it endures death and in death maintains its being. It only wins to its truth when it finds itself utterly torn asunder. It is this mighty power, not by being a positive which turns away from the negative,
as when we say of anything it is nothing or it is false, and, being then done with it, pass off to something else: on the contrary, spirit is this power only by looking the negative in the face, and dwelling with it. This dwelling with it is the magical power that converts the negative into being — The wound can only be healed by the spear that smote it. And this problem can only be solved by blood and iron.
With the open eyes of their dead fathers Towards other worlds they gaze ahead — Children who, wide-eyed, become Periscopes of the buried dead.

This Berlin-based collective that invited me to play at one of their parties last winter, recently expanded into a label, both operating under the name “De Blauwe Aanslag”, that got bequeathed to them to use by Guy Tavares, erstwhile it was the name of the famous squat from The Hague, legendary for the Fog & Strobe bunkered parties from Bunker Records. Their first output are two compilations with various artists, released last month as limited cassette and digital via their Bandcamp, named “The Street Of The Holy Spirit Pt. I & Pt.II“, where i contributed two tracks, upliftingly titled “Fortress Of Fear” and “Get Rid Of The World“, one to each chapter. The artists gathered on those tapes are in a healthy ballance between some Names already well known in the darker electronic music circuits and technoid realms and some younger newcomers, offering a range of electronic music styles, namely industrial, noise, dark ambient, experimental, breakcore, techno, electro, acid and hardcore, all of it brought into the right order for a pleasant listening experience by a thoughtful executed curation.
The following words are accompanying the release on the label page and the release itself.
“Opposition towards any utopian dreams of a better future residing on the far side of a lifetime of sacrifice. Something of this fraud, which elevates the perishable person as bearer of the divine substance, has always been detectable in the ego, which owes its existence to the sacrifice of the present moment to the future. Its substance is as illusory as the immortality of the slaughtered victim. The crisis consists precisely in the fact that the old is dying and the new cannot be born; the old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.” “This triumph over beauty is celebrated by humor – the Schadenfreude that every successful deprivation calls forth. There is laughter because there is nothing to laugh at. It is the echo of power as something inescapable, laughter dedicated to the pleasure of being ready for anything at the expense of everyone else. A transaction mediating between self-preservation and self annihilation, an attempt by the self to survive itself. The fear of losing the self, and suspending with it the boundary between oneself and other life, the aversion to death and destruction, is twinned with a promise of joy which has threatened civilization at every moment since.” “The destructive character lives from the feeling not that life is worthing living, but that suicide is not worth the trouble. The farther away from the slaughter, the more optimism replaces reality.” “Come down to us, God has abandoned us, but we will enjoy it.”

The track “Get Rid Of The World” on pt.II was done in july 2021 and got some feverish visuals attached. It didn’t deserve to just float around as a YouTube video, so I’m happy, that it’s available on a physical release now too.
08.06.2024, NoAlign Presents Time Destroys Everything At OT301, Amsterdam, NL
Doors will open at OT301 on Saturday June 8 at 19.00, and the talk will start shortly after, so make sure to be there on time if you want to catch it.
Talk Overview: Christoph Fringeli is a writer, musician and publisher living and working in Berlin. He runs Praxis Records since 1992 and is the editor of Datacide – Magazine for Noise & Politics since 1997.” In his talk he will present and critically investigate the concept of counterculture from its origins in the 1960s via its mutations with Punk in the 70s and how it entered a new phase in the 90s with the explosion of sound system culture, free festivals and self-managed distribution networks of electronic music, as well as the intersections of this musical underground with radical emancipatory politics. He will also look at reactionary attempts to co-opt countercultural strategies and topics by the far right as well as recuperation by the capitalist mainstream. The crucial question is: How relevant are the concepts of challenging the cultural, political, economic and social status quo devised by the radicals of the past in the digital age? Today we have whole new arsenals of communication and agitation or experimentation. We have to apply these to complement the media experience we have accumulated in the last century, in line with the gains we have made in terms of knowledge about revolutionary history. Christoph’s talk will be followed by discussion and will be illustrated by selected visual material.
