Efreet Custom – Work in progress

Feels like a long time since I did a work in progress post. I’ll be working on the RE/100 Efreet Custom for this one. The proportions looked a bit stumpy, so I decided to extend some parts.
Arms:

I decided to sharpen the shoulder spikes. First I cut the tip off and glued some plaplate on top.

Then very carefully I sharpened the tip using a file and sandpaper.

I extended the bicep part by attaching 1.2mm plaplate on top.
Waist:

The waist part was extended by gluing 1.2mm plaplate at the bottom

Since I’m also extending the thighs, I extended the connecting peg on the waist as well.
Legs:

The upper part of the thigh joint was padded with 1.5mm plaplate.

So it looks like this.

Finally, I gave the same treatment to the ankle joints.
Other than that, I replaced the hands with some 3D printed ones (ordered online), and sharpened the head antenna. As for the color scheme, I already decided on applying the Realtype Gouf colors.
Full Mechanics Gundam Aerial

Introduction:
When I first saw the Witch from Mercury, Gundam Aerial reminded me of Power Doll S2. It must have been the massive thighs, which was also the reason why I bought this Full Mechanics (FM) Aerial kit. The FM brand is just another 1/100 scale lineup that’s not Master Grade.
I was thinking of applying the Power Doll color scheme on the Aerial, but it was mostly white with a bit of blue, which was a bit boring. As I rewatched the show, I thought Suletta Mercury’s pilot suit looked interesting so I went with that.
Materials & methods:
I primed all parts with Mechanical Surfacer Heavy. Using the color scheme from the image above, I painted the kit as follows:
- Joints: Mr Color GX Metal Black / Mr Color Burnt Iron / Gaianotes Gunmetal
- Yellow parts: Mr Color Character Yellow
- Dark grey parts: Gaianotes German Gray
- White parts: Mr Color Light Gull Gray / highlights with Gaianotes Neutral Gray I
I applied Aurora Stickers (Hi-Q parts) over the eyes and reflective sticker on the rifle scope. Then I just added decals, panel lines and finished with semi-gloss topcoat.

Discussion:
Non Master Grade 1/100 kits are typically oversized HG kits. But this Full Mechanics Aerial kit goes beyond that. Sure it doesn’t have a proper inner frame, but everything else is MG quality. It’s also one of the very few kits that can make a decent kneeling pose.
I’m pretty happy with the color scheme. Not the most original, but I think it suits the Aerial. Overall, I’d give this kit a 9/10.
RG Banshee Full Armor

Introduction:
My favorite version of the Banshee has to be the one with the green psycho frame. Unfortunately the RG Banshee only has the orange-colored version, and only the RG Full Armor Unicorn has the green psycho frame. So for this build I did a head transplant involving those two RG kits.
Materials & methods:
For this simple kitbash, I used the head from the RG Banshee (procured from Yellow Submarine Akihabara) and the body from the RG Full Armor Unicorn. No mods, just straight to painting:
I used Gaianotes Prism Blue Black on the armor pieces after spraying a layer of Ueno Black. Backpack and feet were German Gray, while the weapons were painted with various shades of gray and metallic paints. After a bit of decalling and panel-lining, I gave it a semi gloss topcoat finish.

Discussion:
The RG Unicorn/Banshee has a full transformation to Destroy mode; no parts swapping like the SHCM Unicorn. In Destroy mode, some armor pieces tend to fall off when I’m posing it for photography. With all the weapons and accessories attached, it’s even harder to get a decent action pose. Hence the lack of action shots. But you can take a look at my previous attempt at the green psycho frame Banshee for some action poses.
In conclusion, the RG versions of the Unicorn/Banshee have very nice details and proportions, but if you want something to play around with, the HGUC versions might be for you.
