Girls Weekend to LA for "The Sing Off"
Have you met my BF, Eliza Jane? (Friend from NAU, transfered to U of A, convinced her to come back and be my roommate (at NAU)? Remember, we had an a cappella group with a couple of guy friends? Well, you may have seen her recently on NBC's "The Sing Off". Crazy right? She is in Afro-Blue, from Howard University. Isn't she gorgeous?? (She's the white girl, kind of hard to miss) Anyways, I knew that she was in LA, although I didn't know why. She finally called one day after the cast listing for the show was announced and was able to tell me that she was on the show!! (thus the secrecy about her being in LA, and not talking to me for over 4 weeks) YAY! Janey lives in D.C. so we aren't able to see each other but maybe a couple of times a year, and I miss her terribly! Knowing that: 1. she was in LA and only 6 hours away made me stoked, and 2. that she was taping for a nationally televised show, I knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity to cheer her on! Too bad I can't tell you what happened while I was there! AHHHHH!! I called Kathy and she was game for a totally spontaneous trip to Cali--thanks, Kath!!
Venice Beach
Two-headed turtle
I stopped at this cute cafe for lunch. I had an awesome Panini and then some homemade doughnuts. YUM!
All Kathy wanted was to get a sunset picture, but because of our schedule and the taping of the show, this was the best we could get. I pulled over (probably illegally) and Kathy jogged up a hill to get this shot.
Of course we couldn't pass up the opportunity to spend all day Sunday on Huntington Beach. It was so nice to have a day off!!
These are so out of order but it was really funny that on Saturday night we went to the pier (we are talking 10PM) and there were gobs and gobs of people fishing. Whole families with very little children were there past 11, so strange! But it was fun to see some night life!
Umm, we totally ran into Andy McDowell. She was alone and taking pics of people on Venice Beach.
You may or may not see this sign on an upcoming episode (Props to Kath for making it). Just to let you know it was the talk of the night. It even got a laugh out of Nick Lachey (did I mention how good looking he is in person?) Did I also mention that we were interviewed by Sam Tsui? He's an Internet star, look him up on you-tube. I will be completely embarrassed if my interview shows up on the website, I acted like a silly teenager! But it was so fun! Being apart of the taping was awesome, but tiring!!
Meet Grace, the Kindergartner!
I'm not sure who was more ready/excited for Grace to be in Kindergarten, me or her. Although I was pretty apprehensive about sending her away ALL DAY LONG! She LOVES school (are you really surprised? I mean, look at her parents!) She has loved making new friends, loves specials classes, and loves learning.
As soon as we got to the playground the first day her shoes and socks were off in a matter of seconds! I had to explain that she couldn't strip them off every time she went to the playground.
She was so ready for me to leave. It was me that was wanting to linger and watch. I can't believe she is old enough to be in school. I'm afraid if I blink I'll be dropping her off at college!

Grace 5, Sydney 2
Two of my three girls share a birthday. Yes, I was induced with Syd, so I kind of had a choice. Although, the choice was to wait a week until my Dr. got back into town OR share a birthday. I was done being preggo, so I chose for the girls to share, and they love it. It was Grace's year to have a big party. She chose a "Tangled" theme. Thanks to the internet, someone else planned the party and I got to copy it! (I really love the internet!! and the wonderful lady who let me copy her party!)
Would you believe it took THREE adults about an hour to braid 18 feet of Rapunzel's hair? But, it was sure cute, and so worth it!
Jello Boats
The tower cake
the girls at the food table. Grace has some really good friends. They are all really sweet girls!
Homemade birthday banner (thanks to my old friend, Megan for helping me with the circles!)
The girls colored pictures of Rapunzel and Flynn to wait for their other friends to arrive.
We played pin the frying pan on Flynn (thanks to Bella for getting us the poster!)
Pascal making (see below too)
After the good were eaten, and sun cookies decorated, we went out front to light the lanterns.

Good thing my dad was around to help!! We tied yarn to the lantern so it wouldn't really fly away and we came close to lighting a couple of buses on fire. But I had the hose ready and doused a couple of wildly lanterns.
We had such a fun time. Thanks to Grace's friends for making her day so special!
All three got a pillow pet on the girls' birthday. How could we leave Kams out?
Just so Sydney wasn't left out, we got her an Oreo cake to celebrate her as well. She's got the sweetest little face!
