Birthday Fun

Cassidy turned 6 years old on tuesday. She was really excited. Monday night Cassidy and I went to the NFR Rodeo in Vegas with some of her cousins and aunts and uncles. She was ready to go home by 8pm but when the barrell racing started she was excited.

Tuesday we threw her a family birthday party, had dinner and cake. She was really excited and played with all of her gifts until it was time for bed.

I drank the water!

Mesquite's water is contaminated, it makes pretty much everyone who drinks it get pregnant and it happened to me(On purpose)! It is the running joke in my ward because there are about 10 girls pregnant and 6 that have already had there babies. It is so much fun, but if we are still in the same ward when all these kids turn nursery age somebody is going to have to tear down a few walls. So baby number 4is on it's way, he or she will be born sometime in June.

We didn't do much we went to our wards trunk or treat and then door to door halloween night, thankfully our neighborhood isn't filled yet so my kids didn't get a lot of candy.

I almost forgot we also carved pumpkins, I waited until the very end of the month and lance was out of town, so Cassidy and Jace got a pumpkin and they carved them all by themselves. I was quite empressed.

Our Quick Hiking Trip

This past weekend my family went hiking, location: if you go north on the I15 just before the Gorge there is a road called farm road. We found a dirt road, got into the Prowler and followed a trail until we couldn't drive anymore then the hiking started. The morning weather was great especially for all the up hill climbing we did. We found what we believe to be a big horn sheep fence, some was taken down but there was still a lot of fence left and in still good condition (I wish I knew how long ago it was put there) also, we got to our stopping point and found a water trough. The walk back down was cake and quick, Jace was practically running and he scared me the whole way down. We got back to the Prowler and had lunch, after lunch we packed up and headed back home, we all had fun and I can't wait to do it again.

Jace and Cassidy taking one of their many rests going up the mountain, I really didn't mind the breaks.

The next day we had a surprise birthday party, Grandpa thought our lunch party was just going to be family he didn't know all his friends were showing up.

Internet Predators and Their Young Victims

Image

The Internet can sometimes seem like the Wild West for child predators—a place that largely operates outside the law. While trading in pedophile pornography is illegal, lack of adequate funding means law enforcement officials are able to investigate just 2 percent of their leads. And, according to Interpol statistics, only one-half of 1 percent are ever prosecuted.

"What you are going to see is going to shock you to the core, but I'm asking you to please don't turn away," Oprah says, "because this is happening in our country to our children in the United States every day."

The map behind Oprah shows how quickly one pornographic image of a child being molested can spread. It starts with the large red dot from a computer in Washington, D.C. Within 24 hours, it has spread all across the United States—from coast to coast and north to south. "This is just an average day in America—24 hours," Oprah says.

The demand for new videos and photos is so high that authorities report tracking increasingly brutal pornography with younger and younger victims.

"For once, you and I can do something about it!" Oprah says.

Image
If you are enraged, disgusted and fed up with child predators slipping through the cracks, there is something you can do right now. Camille Cooper works with PROTECT, a group working to pass better laws to build protection for children, and says there is an important bill going before the Senate this month.

Senate Bill 1738, the PROTECT Our Children Act, will provide valuable funding for child protection task forces. "If you don't put the money behind law enforcement and fund them and have more cops that are dedicated to going after these guys and protecting our children, we won't rescue these children," Camille says.
Camille stresses that it is important to contact your senators immediately and put pressure on the Senate before Congress recesses on September 26. "It passed the U.S. House almost unanimously. We have to get it out of the Senate. We need to go rescue these children."

"This is not about politics," Oprah says. "It's about our children. It's a bipartisan bill supported by both Republicans and Democrats. I believe that it really is up to us to tell the Senate not to go home until you pass that bill."

Help Pass Senate Bill 1738—The PROTECT Our Children Act

Hundreds of thousands of children are victims of sexual abuse each year. Due to the sheer lack of resources, law enforcement is unable to follow up on the majority of leads they have.

The PROTECT Our Children Act will:

Authorize over $320 million over the next five years in desperately needed funding for law enforcement to investigate child exploitation.
Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding.
Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators.
Act Now!
Your U.S. senators will be voting on the bill soon, so it is crucial you contact them immediately.
Go to www.senate.gov to find contact information for the senators in your state. Search for your senator by name or state by clicking on the arrow from either dropdown menu. Contact information is provided here. To send an e-mail, click on "Web Form" below his or her name, and e-mail your letter to make a difference!

Call Your Senators
If you choose to contact your senators by phone, be sure to tell them, "Vote yes on Senate Bill 1738—The PROTECT Our Children Act."

Write to Your Senators
If you choose to write a letter, fax, telegram or e-mail, you may use the following sample letter—and modify it how you see fit.

Dear Senator:

I know that you believe, like I do, that we must do everything possible to protect children from sexual predators. That is why I am asking for your help.

Last year alone, U.S. law enforcement identified over 300,000 criminals who were trafficking in movies and pictures of young children being raped and tortured. Experts say that one in every three of these criminals has local child victims. Child pornography trafficking over the Internet has given us a trail of evidence that leads straight to their doorsteps, but the vast majority of these children will never be rescued because investigators are overwhelmed, outnumbered and underfunded.

As your constituent, I urge you to do everything in your power to pass the PROTECT Our Children Act (S. 1738, Biden-Hatch). This bipartisan legislation passed the House 415-2, but it is now the victim of petty partisan politics.

Now that we know where these children are and how to protect them, there is no excuse for the Senate to fail to take action this session.

Midnight Sun

The following paragraph came from my sister and I agree so I copied hers.

For those who may have not heard about what happened to Stephanie Meyer's partial draft of Midnight Sun, check out her site...

Click Here to her web site

It's a shame that there are some people who are very inconsiderate and have no respect for how much hard work she has put into her novels, especially someone she trusted.

I haven't read it yet and don't know if I will. I don't know when she'll finish it but I kind of want to wait until I get the whole thing without any errors.

I took this from Twilight Mom's blogsite
A popular Utah morning show, Studio 5, wants to hear from YOU!!! A poll about reading the leaked chapters of Midnight Sun will be open at 10am Mountain Time. Co-Host Brooke Walker will be discussing the leak and may include some of your comments on the show this morning at 11am Mountain. The poll will remain open for the full day so head over there to take part!

Thank you to Brooke Walker and Studio 5 for contacting TwilightMOMS.com and inviting everyone to participate!!! We look forward to seeing the show… and hope to have a video of the segment to play for everyone.

Jace celebrated his birthday last week. He had a party with his cousin Garrett (their birthdays are days apart). We went to the park, had dinner and birthday cake, had a water balloon fight, and both boys ended up with lots of presents. It was fun and the clean up was a sinch.

Remember When

Remember awhile back when we had that major rain storm in Mesquite, and I mean major! We were just coming into town off of the freeway and got slowed down to 35 miles per hour. We couldn't see a thing, The kids were all excited, they wanted to get home and play in the puddles, we drove around town checking out all the floods then went home. From that moment on we never made it inside the house until it was dark, the kids played and played, the neighbors joined in and it turned into a small block party. That is what's great about having fun neighbors. We all can hangout all afternoon and into the evening.

Here is Alexis and her friend Elizabeth, it is raining hard and they are playing in the sprinklers.
