Halloween was fun this year. I got a little too into making costumes. But, hopefully they will be used for years to come!
All October long, when asked, Millie would tell people she was going to be a bunny for Halloween. She would even give a sample of her little bunny hop. But when time came to put on the two pink leotards that were going to be layered as a part of her bunny costume, she wouldn't let me put the fuzzy one on top! She didn't want to cover the pretty ballerina skirt or rose. So, on the day of the parade at school it was determined that she would be a ballerina! Good thing we had pink tights, shoes, and lots of hair gel.
William chose to be a mummy because he really wanted to be able to scare someone. He was quite disappointed when his teachers and friends at school recognized him and weren't really scared. The costume was redeemed a week after Halloween when we begrudgingly pulled them on again to get pictures. Millie finally gave the reaction William was looking for. She was scared to death. When we weren't looking he would follow her around and make scary noises. And that is why we allowed her to have her Binky for the family picture.
Spencer was inspired to be a Centaur from reading his Percy Jackson books. He was loyal to it too. He put this costume on for 3 parties and even trick-or-treated in it. It isn't the most comfortable with two elastic straps pulled as tight as possible around his little waist and hips. But all his wearing of it made making it worth it!
After last year dressing up as the famous 90's Lip-syncing group Milli Vanilli, Lincoln and I thought we'd dress up as another highlight from our generation--Heman and Shera! I guess we like dressing up as things that only people born within about 15 years of each other will appreciate. At our ward party everyone about 10 years older than us, or 10 years younger didn't know quite what we were, and were a little disturbed by Lincoln's skirt and hair. But those in their late 20's to late 30's all appreciated the nod to those nostalgic days of watching Heman cartoons.
