Thanksgiving and Kaden's blessing

We've been playing catch up this holiday...now that Christmas is over, here's an update on the Lanenga happenings at Thanksgiving...

For Thanksgiving Matt's parents and sister came to visit! It was nice to have them meet Kaden and they were great taking care of him and letting me get some much needed rest. Our Thanksgiving meal was AMAZING and because family was out, we had Kaden blessed at church. What a sweet feeling it was to hear the Priesthood blessing given to our son. He didn't even cry--I kept thinking he was going to poop because he does it so much and it's so loud! But he was great! My brother also came out for business and was able to stop by and meet our little man.

Our little man

It has been so fun to watch Kaden grow and develop. Even though he is only 1 1/2 months old, he has changed so quickly. He now loves to talk and smile--especially around 2 am!!! When I see that big smile I know all of the lack of sleep and challenges I face are SO worth it!

Kaden: One month and counting!

It's hard to believe our little man is already one month old today! It has gone by so quickly...and yet so slowly. Here are the current stats:

Kaden:

-Height: 23 inches--90th percentile
-Weight: 10 lbs 10 oz--75th percentile
-Head: 15 inches--50th percentile

-LOVES to eat--he would eat all the day long if I let him

-Makes all sorts of funny sounds especially as he is nodding off (like father, like son!) :)

-Hates to have his arms swaddled but sleeps much better when they are

-Fights sleep during the day, so consequently I get next to nothing done

-Sort of giggles as he falls asleep while eating

-Loves looking at any lights or walls
-Stretches all of the time--no wonder he is so long!

-Loves his hands--perfect to suck on, perfect toy...

-Captivated by the sound of water

-SO lovable!!!

Kaden: Our bundle of joy

I've come to the conclusion that those who have mild or 'easy' pregnancies are destined to have a rough delivery. Such was my case. But our little Kaden was worth it, and we love him to pieces!Image

THE Countdown...

The crib has been assembled (with some difficulty), his bed is made, the shelves are up, his clothes are washed and put away...now where is he?! Our son's due date is in one month! October 17, and it is coming so fast, and yet so slow. Yikes! I love his cute little jungle bed set...don't you?!Image

So cute!Image

California Dreamin...

So this past weekend flew by and was a complete blur. My sister was getting married in the Oakland Temple, so Matt and I ventured back to California. The airlines, however, were doing their best to keep us away as we were delayed, stranded in the Atlanta airport, spent the night in Atlanta, and then finally made it a day late to California. Then the rest was all wedding. Linds went through the temple Friday, we had a delicious grooms dinner in downtown San Fran at a Thai place, spent the night in Oakland, and traveled to the temple Saturday morning for her wedding. She was such a beautiful bride, and everything turned out great, even with some minor problems. Got to visit and catch up with friends and actually eat at this reception! It's nice when it's not your own. :) And where would the fun be if we weren't delayed on our return flight home? Can't wait til we go out to California again!Image Isn't my nephew just the cutest?! Crossing the Delaware

We are not George Washington, and we did not cross the River in attempt at a surprise attack, but we did cross the Delaware! On Saturday Matt and I canoed down part of the Delaware River. It was absolutely beautiful, and the weather was perfect. Not too hot with a slight breeze. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing afternoon. Next adventure: Home to California. ( yay!)Image
